I booked to dine here with 6 friend for their bottomless brunch. The staff were lovely and attentive as the Prosecco kept following. However, the chicken and waffle dish was overly disappointing. The 3 friends and I who ordered it were served with what looked like shop bought waffles that had been toasted for too long because they were burn and hard when they arrived. Accompanying the waffles was a dry breadcrumb chicken fillet breast that was halved as if the kitchen was running low on chicken. The one strip of streaky bacon was the highlight of the meal as it was big and succulent. I made it known to the staff that I wasn’t happy with my meal. They were very accommodating and the supervisor offered to give me something else on the menu. I ordered the shakshuka which I enjoyed. After travelling to Oxford for 2.5hours in 30degree heat that day, my 3 friends who had not eaten breakfast, were too hungry and exhausted to reorder another meal but they expressed their deep dissatisfaction during and after eating the meal. It a lovely spot, with decent food for the most part and incredibly friendly staff but I’d avoid ordering the chicken and waffles if you do go.

Before I go any further, I will say that I would have given 3.5 stars for this review if I could have. It actually was a pleasant experience to visit here, great vibe & attentive service despite it being packed out. The hot drinks we had were all on point, however 3 of the 5 meals our party had were disappointing. Two of us had the pancakes with bacon & maple syrup, however as you can see from the photo there was simply way too much syrup on the plate. Even for those sweet-toothed youngsters it was simply far too sweet & sickly. A suggestion would be to serve the syrup on the side so that it can be added to individual taste. I myself had the chorizo shakshouka. Although the dish itself was filling & tasty, the eggs were completely hard with no runny yolks at all. Also I would expect for the price that fresh grilled tomatoes rather than tinned tomatoes would have been used. I hope these suggestions are taken in the spirit they are meant - I certainly wouldn't be put off coming again

An interesting experience at George Street Social. My party and I were so excited to visit this brunch spot during our weekend away in Oxford. We ordered via the app, which was a mistake. Half the food came before the drinks which was frustrating. When the rest of the food arrived, one dish was missing for around 20 minutes. We realized that the order had not gone through the app. There was no notification from the app or information from servers to say the order had not been received. These complications weren't met with the best customer service. The eggs Benedict looked fantastic, however the eggs were over cooked and the hollandaise was cold. Despite this it was still a nice meal. My friends ordered smashed avo on toast and loved it. My advice would be to order through your server and not the app, to avoid any complications. If you like your eggs runny, definitely let them know to avoid any solid yolk disappointments. Overall, it was an okay experience.

Would have been a nice experience as v cool interior and nice food, but the experience was ruined by a couple of very rude staff members. Bottomless brunch was painfully slow; we constantly had to remind staff to top our prosecco up, and the waitress who took our order acted like she wanted to be anywhere else but there. Food took forever to arrive, then when it did the portions were so small my friend asked for a croissant. 45 minutes later it hadn't arrived, and when we reminded them, it arrived without an apology. Another friend asked to hear what cakes were being offered, and the waitress said she didn't know? My friend then asked if there was a cabinet, and the waitress said yes, but that we should check ourselves, implying she was too busy. We asked another, nicer Australian waitress, who went down and checked without question, but then once we'd ordered, brought up the wrong cake. This was a genuine mistake, but when we finally got the bill (which we waited bout 20 mins for), neither the croissant or cake had been taken off as a sign of good will. We raised this with the nicer waitress, who took our bill and forgot about us, so we then had to ask our original waitress, who was just plain confrontational, and challenged us with: 'well did you eat the croissant?' Eventually she got the owner, who gave us 15% off, which was much appreciated, although it was done somewhat grudgingly. However, we still won't be going back after such bad service, which is not what you expect having paid so much for...

I would like to start by saying that I have been a regular to George Street Social for 5 years and have never had a bad experience, it is one of my favourite brunch places in Oxford and therefore I took my partner and parents there on my graduation day. However, what happened was disappointing and I won’t be back anymore.

It was the morning of July 29th around 10:15. We went in to have brunch before my ceremony and we were the first to have ordered food at the time. The hot drink came in glasses and were extremely hot to handle, and upon observation everyone else either had a proper coffee cup or a glass like ours but with the sleeves. We then waited 20min+ for food, only for other people’s food to arrive first. We then nudged the manager and he immediately showed up with just warm food, which have clearly been sitting up there for a while.

We decided to removed the discretionary service charge when we were getting the bill, and we explained to the waitress at the counter the reasons behind it. She did not comment anything about the above and didn’t say anything either. From a customer point of view this made me feel it was done intentionally for whatever reason hopefully not any sort of discrimination.

It is sad to see a place I loved for the past five years providing this level of service on an important day. If any management team reads this, please reach out, I am happy for...

Came here for birthday lunch, we ordered 2 beef burgers & 1 cheese+tomato toastie (they ran out of ham). First thing we noticed was how expensive everything was... which would've been fine if the quality wasn't so terrible. We weren't asked our preference for how the burgers were cooked so we assumed they cook all one heat like typical places that don't ask. But no, turns out they just do whatever they feel like in the kitchen because one came out medium-rare & the other was well done. They were both bland as well. When the toastie arrived, I should've extracted all the oil on my plate+soaked in the bread to open my own oil business (there was enough of it drenching everything) & make back the money I spent. To this day I'm still questioning if they put any gin into my Raspberry Collins or rum in my Dark & Stormy because I sure as hell couldn't smell a hint of alcohol let alone taste it. The stool heights were disproportionate to the table (the 6-seater near the bar), making it uncomfortable to eat the awful food. There's no point coming back here because the only thing to do would be sit there & play board games or go on my laptop or chill with friends without ordering anything to eat/drink, and I'd rather go do those things in a place where I can eat/drink decent stuff like in Thirsty Meeples...
