Unfortunately, I cant post less than 1 star or I would.
We ate at Buffet City for 5 years approximately, on average 3 times a week throughout.
We tolerated paying adult charges for all of our under 10 year old grandchildren so as not to make a fuss, apparently they were too tall to qualify for a junior charge.
During our patriotism in the last year, in particular, we saw a number of anomalies of concern, i.e. the manager pouring drinks from glasses into bottles and serving them to the customers thinking we hadn't seen him, as well as overcharging the customers resulting in argumentative and upsetting behaviour and a flagrant display of chauvinistic arrogance in general from the manager.
Over the years we saw guys leaving BC with a variety of assorted food in their hands, chips, satay, chicken balls etc as well as Ice cream, cornets bits of fruit, cake, other bits of desserts, dolly mixtures, fruit gums and more.
But can you understand my horror when we left on my last occasion, I took a few jelly beans off of my plate for the first time and kept them to give to my grandchildren; at the till, after I had paid, the manager went mental, diving into my bag pulling me and everything around and out of my bag telling me I was not to leave with anything, but I had just paid for them.
As an OAP and a lady of 76 years old, I left shaking with fear after this shocking and appalling treatment by the Manager which bordered on assault, I will never go there or recommend it again. The staff all know who he is.
It would appear that only 76 year old ladies will be confronted by the manager as they leave but he definitely wont challenge the men.
To the Owner, Don't follow this up with your pathetic 'your feedback helps us improve', just accept I was assaulted and treated appallingly and deal with your staff appropriately. try- his immediate dismissal for unfitting conduct.

Response from the owner in the last week Thank you for comment. It is the company policy that customers are not permitted to take food outside the restaurant for consumption at home unless they are buying takeaway food. Staff endeavour to treat all costumers with respect for enjoyable experience. ..........................................................................................
My reply to your response below, copied and pasted above for clarity.
I notice that you have not denied any of my allegations, but you have chosen to side step the points in my review even though I have made the circumstances crystal clear.
This is what you did with all the complaints you have received from other decent people who were trying to support you.
The disgusting treatment I received and all of the complaints you have had, which you defend, informs me that you are evidently from the same gutter as your manager came from.
I feel sure that many other decent citizens in Plymouth will agree and stop frequenting the shabby third world service you provide as there are many other places you can go to.
You have not addressed the problems I had one jot, but you have defended your manager of his assault on me, a 76 year old widow, over a few jelly beans which I had just paid for. Let me tell you something: Brits do not tolerate this kind...
Read moreI moved to England ten years ago, and since then, I’ve been going to this place, though lately I find myself going a lot less frequently. In the years of going there, I’ve watched quality backslide and prices keep climbing. It’s even where if you decide not to buy a drink (which the drinks are extremely watered down and flat, but still cost close to £3 each), they will make you pay more for the meal if you decide to skip the drink? I’ve never seen any place ever do that.
Anyway, as for the actual food that’s being offered, I found the chow mein to be absolutely without any tast (I know it’s plain chow mein, but it should have SOME taste to it),the chicken balls were extremely tough to even get a for into, the prawn toast was like bricks and the curry had no flavor either. It was pretty obvious that everything that was out had been there for several hours under heat lights and it’s clear that the preparation has included plenty of corner cutting.
So, when it came time to pay (for two people with drinks was over £25),the cashier asked if everything was alright. I wasn’t rude, but I did tell her that honestly it hadn’t been. She of course asked this AFTER taking payment, and when I explained to her the what I didn’t like and I even told her how I’d been going there for years, she dismissed them without a word and didn’t seem to take what I was saying seriously. For example, when I explained that the chow mein had no taste, she half grinned and said “it’s plain chow mein”, and when I told her it should have at least some sort of flavor, she didn’t respond. In the end, I told her I would not be coming back, and she honestly didn’t seem to care. The service level there is such a joke and nobody really cares as long as they get their payment. I put a review up on their Facebook page, and the promptly removed it with no response. They’d rather hide those sorts of things than to try and resolve the issues, so it will indeed be my last time going. I hope they get crushed by the new places opening up on Exeter street. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving business...
Read moreHORRIBLE PEOPLE! Rocked up yesterday for dinner, their was 6 of us in our family 4 paying adults a 2 year old and a 8 month old baby we was told we would have to pay full kids price for my 8 month old baby when we refused as we know she wouldnt eat we was told thats fine but if we check the cctv and see her eating ANYTHING EVEN (ABIT OF JELLY) “boss man” will come and deduct money out of their wages for her eating (SCARE TACTIC INTO US PAYING FOR FULL PRICE) So in the end they offered us to pay £3 instead which we agreed to for her to eat a-bit of jelly! We was handed a slip with what we had to pay for my partner and i had a pushchair and the 2 young ones to carry to the table myself never got halfway from the front door to the table before i was told 3 times i must pay now (HANDS FULL OF CHANGING BAGS & PUSHING A PRAM ALSO) why so needy i don’t know…? The whole entire time we was eating we was watched like hawks everything we was saying and doing! Towards the end my 2 yr old daughter got really excited because of there deserts so as most 2 yr olds do she ran to the desert counter and was holding onto the side to try and look and some chef lady come out the kitchen and told her off for peering at the deserts! Disqusting behaviour! Food was average at best! They charge for waste left on plates (LUCKILY WE NEVER HAD WASTE) Yet there is dishes up there which havent even been touched so im assuming charging customers is a way to not loose money on the dishes they have over cooked and put out which NO ONE is touching! Will not be returning thats for sure Rather of gone to McDonalds and...
