For the (at the time of writing) 2nd best restaurant in Plymouth, expectations were naturally going to be high. However to say my experience was underwhelming would be an understatement. If this is the best Plymouth has to offer then I dread to think what might be lower down on the list. But first I must start with the positives, the restaurant occupies what appears to be a small converted chapel that was very spacious, warm and welcoming. The service was fairly decent, staff were attentive and quick to greet on entry and supply menus. In addition to this, food came out the kitchen in a swift fashion. My problem however was the food. The moussaka we had been served occupied less than half the plate and was bereft of any seasoning. I don't know what portion control is happening in the kitchen but to pay over £12.00 for the little that was served seemed a joke. The Nachos came with a melted vegan cheese. This might as well have been water, little to no flavour and if anything off-putting. The olive bread I must accept was delicious and packed a punch in terms of flavour. The vegan scotch egg too was over-priced at £6.50 but was admittedly quite tasty. The side salad that came with the moussaka was soaked in olive oil which was bitter in taste. Further work to the salad dressing is apparent, I would suggest incorporating a splash red wine vinegar with a touch of dijon mustard would lift this dressing to the next level. Overall a poor serving of food which...

The menu remains top notch, with a carefully curated selection of fresh, vibrant flavours. I opted for the natchos this visit and was not disappointed, flavourful, rich chilli and smooth creamy cheese sauce made a lovely contrast, and the chips remained crisp and tasty til the end. My wife went for the rainbow bowl and the name doesn't lie, a plate full of beautiful colours and flavours. The children (4 and 2) were very welcomed by friendly staff and shared a generous portion of mac and cheese, luckily there was even some left for us to sample, and it was delicious! Even more highly recommended now in this much more accessible and beautiful venue.
Original review: Vegan or not, this place is a hidden gem. Cosy, relaxed atmosphere and very welcoming staff that were super accommodating. The food is amazing. A great varied and fresh menu that is full of clean, vegan and delicious food. Beautifully colourful salads, huge well filled wraps and inventive specials. The crown gem in my meal was the scotch egg! How that is vegan, I don't know!...

Having read the reviews online I decided to book in to here when visiting a friend in Plymouth. Booked on Wednesday 11th Aug, for Friday 13th.
Set off from Manchester at 4am, and due to being caught in a 5 hour motorway closure, and arrived in Plymouth 10.5 hours later.
Quickly freshened and changed and set off for Cosmic Kitchen. On arrival we were told that they had a very limited menu as all kitchen staff had been forced to isolate due to Covid.
They said that all with reservations had been called that day. I spent 10 1/2 hours in my car, didn't leave it once, with my phone literally 18 inches in front of me mounted on the dashboard connected to the car bluetooth. I did not get a call and no voicemail was left.
This was rather disappointing as it left limited scope to make alternative arrangements, and we had to phone a lot of restaurants to find somewhere that could take us last minute.
So my rating is based upon the experience I had with the restaurant,...
