Zizzi - Plymouth — Restaurant in Plymouth

Went to Zizzi as we had a £30 voucher to use. Was very busy & the staff seemed super rushed. We were shown a table & before long were asked for our order!! We had just sat down. Asked for jug of tap water, it never arrived! Placed our order of two starters, two mains with glass of red & sparkling water with fresh lime. My starters came first, my husband’s 5 mins later. We had to ask where it was. Our mains came quickly. I had a gluten free/vegan pizza, my husband the belly pork. The pizza wasn’t as nice as I’ve had before. Although one of the basic pizzas, there was hardly any topping of pepperoni! I asked for mayo & chilli sauce. They only had mayo & said there would be a 35p charge??? I would expect that at Pizza Express but not Zizzi. My husband’s belly pork was fine but surrounded by about 10 new potatoes. Far too many, would have preferred more veg as there was hardly any there. Asked for my sparkling water with fresh lime but it came with cordial. Not to my liking but I drank it. The French waitress was lovely but totally rushed off her feet. Dirty glasses were pulled up at the bar next to where we were sitting. So not a nice sight. The girl behind the bar was in no hurry to was them. I appreciate she was mega busy but stopping to chat with fellow colleagues whilst helping themselves to cold drinks isn’t a good look for the customer. Visited the Zizzi restaurant in Plymouth for a casual meal in the weekend and I would say it was an alright experience. After having quite a disappointment with a delivery order we did from this place sometime back we were quite surprised with the quality of service and food served when dining in. Restaurant is quite busy, so it is wise to make a booking before you arrive. Staff were somewhat friendly and the dishes we ordered (A pizza, The hanging Kebab, Some wine and the cheesecake) tasted fresh. Truly enjoyed the hanging kebab and the cheesecake. I would recommend this location for dining in rather than delivery orders.

Old review : We had a very positive experience at Zizzi in Bristol which made us order from them again. I was craving some Pizza for dinner, so I went ahead and ordered the Chicken and Fiery Roquito pizza from their rustic range. My husband ordered the King prawn linguine. The order was made through Deliveroo and was delivered fast and the food arrived in lovely packaging. Although, The quality of the food was very poor. The Pizza was super dry and the filling was so poor. The whole pizza had 4/5 small chunks of chicken, some tomato bits and basil (As shown in the image). Last minute meal at peak time Saturday evening, we were seated at one of the remaining 2 free tables. I ordered pasta as did my dining partner, we ordered a side of garlic bread and non alcoholic drinks

Meal came out in good time, was piping hot and beautifully tasty - a rarity with pasta!

We didnt get desserts as we already had plans elsewhere BUT the ones we did see being brought out looked amazing!

We loved it so much that we BOOKED a table for Monday night, 8.30 - Very much less busy this time, but we had the same server, who was again excellent, and I didnt get his name!

Dining partner had the Wild boar pasta and I had the pizza, because after clocking one the few nights before, I KNEW I had to!

We had sides of potatoes and chips ( but these were more fries than chips ) and everything was absolutely delicious!

My only small teeny issue was that the drinks we ordered were canned, and a small and standard at that, after being served lovely fresh drinks the first time, if I'd know they were canned, I probably wouldn't have ordered, but they were good nonetheless

Food was excellent both times

Cost was incredibly reasonable given the portion sizes

Staff were brilliant, attentive and efficient - I will certainly be visiting this chain in other parts of the country.
