Kadir's Indian Street Kitchen | Indian Restaurant and Takeaway Southsea — Restaurant in Portsmouth

Wow! On my way home this evening I popped into Kadir's for a takeaway, how glad I am that I have finally made it to a place that I have been keen to visit for years. I asked for them to choose my meal and I was given a delightful, delicious new food experience, I could actually taste the individual aromas and flavours of each spice and herbs in my beautiful just right proportioned meal. The chef asked to serve the starter (Pani Puri Shots) in the restaurant, it had never occurred to me before but street food is really designed for being eaten immediately and not for packaging and carrying home. It was wonderful, a delicate explosion of flavour with a lovely crisp shell. The main meal I took home was equally well cooked, a wonderful balance of flavour and texture. Casual street food type restaurant. Nice decor. We were allowed to bring our own beer as it isn't licensed and there was no cover charge. We were presented with 2 piping hot poppadom each and a range of chutnies: delicious and most welcome. The menu was confusing. Rather than starters there was a list of street food. Some of the dishes mentioned weren't explained and some of what we ordered seemed different from what was explained to us. Good food and good portions though the Peshwari naan was a bit soggy and I didn't see or taste any egg in the egg rice. The pistachio kulfi was nice. Went here for my boyfriends dad's birthday and honestly, it's one of the best Indian restaurants along Albert Road that I have eaten in due to food and customer service. Every seat in the restaurant was full but it didn't stop us getting looked after throughout the evening. As expected, their vegetarian range is superb and they even offer vegan meals!

After a lovely dinner we were given slices of fresh orange and chocolate, and we even got a surprise birthday cake before we left 😅

Great staff. Very attentive, polite, and do not seem troubled by a busy restaurant.

I'm coming back everytime I want to eat Indian food. Thanks for a great evening. 5 star service. 5 star food!!
