I visited this place a few years back and must admit it was really nice, and respected as a authentic Lebanese restaurant... I recently visited after 3 years and I was far from impressed.. firstly, they got our order completely wrong and when you at any point try to discuss, it's always the language barrier card, which is deeply frustrating as in the end, you just give up, and accept it , but in hindsight, why should you settle for a wrong meal, if you're paying... Secondly the food quality has dropped massively, the chicken seemed hard and no flavour, the vegetable rice again seemed like they been reheated the 8th time.. and as a result, that same day and day after my stomach was messed up.
Irrespective of the above, I decided to give them another chance, I had the sheesh Tawuq ( however you spell it) ... Grilled chicken and rice.. and salad... Deeply disappointed to say,the chicken once again tasted super dry and hard... And the salad was losing its colour.. clearly not fresh... The plain white rice was ok... Best thing was the fresh bread you get for free.
In conclusion, it's evident this place has lost many customers as it's always empty... On two occasions, I've been really disappointed, chicken tasting off and hard as well as the rice and salad, clearly they are using food that is just sat there... I will not be going back again... Period. We have far greater choices for Lebanese food, such as Persian Palace in caversham ( amazing) as well as Palymer on Oxford road, meat is fresh and so is the salad....you can literally taste the difference.
Choice is yours peeps... Price wise it's all...
Read moreDuring my visit to Reading, I had the pleasure of dining at Bakery House - Lebanese Grill, located at 82 London Street. This gem of a restaurant offers an authentic taste of Lebanese cuisine that is both delightful and memorable.
We started our meal with the Hummus, which was exceptionally fresh. The chickpeas were perfectly boiled and blended with sesame, lemon juice, and seasonings to create a smooth and flavorful dip. Paired with their fresh home-made bread, it was the perfect way to begin our dining experience.
For the main courses, we chose the Grilled Whole Seabass Fish and the Lamb Shawarma Platter. The Grilled Whole Seabass was a standout. The fish was nicely marinated and chargrilled to perfection, maintaining its moistness and flakiness. It was served with a fresh salad and a side of rice, making for a balanced and satisfying meal.
The Lamb Shawarma Platter was equally impressive. The lamb was marinated for 24 hours in a special blend of Arabic spices, which resulted in tender, flavorful meat. It was grilled to perfection and served on a platter with salad and rice. The combination of spices and the meticulous preparation made this dish a true highlight.
The ambiance of Bakery House is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for both casual meals and special occasions. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish.
If you are in Reading and looking for authentic Lebanese cuisine, Bakery House - Lebanese Grill is a must-visit. Their expertly prepared dishes and welcoming atmosphere will leave you wanting to come...
Read moreI’ve dined in and ordered takeaway from this place several times back when it was Bakery House, and I’ve always enjoyed the food. Since the rebrand to Lebanese Flavours, the menu and overall food quality have definitely changed, unfortunately, not for the better.
On my latest visit, the waiter was friendly and seated us promptly, which was appreciated. I ordered the mixed grill: the lamb cubes were dry and very small, and while the chicken wasn’t dry, it lacked flavour. It came with some grilled vegetables, but nothing particularly memorable. My side was the vegetable rice, which used to be a favourite, it was always fresh and tasty, but this time it was dry, overcooked, and the portion was slightly smaller than I remember.
One thing I really missed was the complimentary bread, salad, and sauces they used to provide, none of that was offered this time, which was disappointing.
On the plus side, my partner had the chicken shawarma wrap and really enjoyed it, said it was full of flavour. He also got a portion of grilled chicken which was fresh and tasty. We ordered a small portion of chicken shawarma with chips for our toddler, it was fine, but it would be great if they offered proper kids’ meal options.
Also, be aware there’s paid off-street parking nearby, limited to 2 hours.
Overall, quite disappointed with how things have changed. This used to be a go-to spot for us, but it’s lost a lot of what...
