Found this shop a while back when I was out walking with my dog and saw the work being done …. Told it was dog friendly!! So today visiting my mum we walked around Partick/Byres Road checking out eating places - nothing inspired us! Then I remembered this place - wasn’t sure if it was open yet but it is!!! Great warm welcome! Lucky to get a table as very very busy! We had decided to have a coffee and then decide on food but from moment we walked in the door we knew we had to eat here! We chose Eggs Florentine and Eggs Benedict - oh wow!!!! Best eggs Florentine I’ve had! My mum raved about eggs Benedict too. Well presented very artistically done! The tastes !!!!!! Yummy!!! Coffee is superb!!!! Even the drinking cup it’s served in!! We had a breather as we had saw the cakes on way upstairs to our seat …. Looked amazing and very tempting! Our waitress (sorry didn’t get her name) was very knowledgable and enthusiastic- described them all and made recommendations! We opted for apple crumble and lemony tart (not sure of name of it!) They were so good!!! (We did share) so delicious we bought two more to take home!!! (My mum was super impressed and so was I) we will definitely be recommending this place and will...
Read morePremium Flat White by people who know what they are doing? Absolute(ly) not!!!!
Asked for a flat white with a sugar. Was told in no uncertain terms by the passive aggressive brunette serving me that the sugar was by the machine and I should add it myself (there are multitude of reasons why you should add the sugar directly to the espresso and you would do well to educate yourself) . The FW was made in ecord time by the cap wearing Barrista - you can see from the picture why. Luke warm milk on a freezing morning in Glasgow unceremoniously dumped in a cup of coffee with no texture, body, head, craft or indeed love.
If I wanted the equivalent of a Nescafé instant I would have made a coffee at home, not paid £3.40 for the sad excuse of an artisan coffee you served me. For anyone reading this, I would suggest going to Fern round the corner where I went the previous day for a far more genuine welcome, a far superior FW, and an altogether different experience.
Ps they don’t do drink or eat in so don’t be fooled by...
Read moreUpdate: Following their move to their new permanent location, they have taken on more of a cafe/brunch vibe. Most of their seating is upstairs though they do have a few window stools and a table downstairs which are much more accessible, and a few seats outside too.
The brunch menu is excellent, with a wide range of vegetarian and gluten-free items (poached egg items all served on potato rostis rather than bread, so all GF). The food is delicious and the portions are generous.
The staff remain friendly and helpful. The coffee is excellent.
Original review:
Excellent little 'hidden gem'. Great tasting coffees. Using delicious well-sourced beans, which they also sell in bags, along with a variety of coffee-making gear. The staff are all genuinely friendly and keen to help. Also delicious cakes/pastries including amazing gluten-free and vegan range. They now have a new range of sandwiches and salads which look very enticing. Fast becoming a firm...
