It is an era of extreme competition and the ones who don't care, can not maintain a good business. I want to share my horrible experience with chunky chicken. Few days before, I went there with my family and ordered few items. They had pasted a notice outside takeaway about 20% discount for students. Me and my boys (All being student) asked about 20% discount but the person at counter refused and told us that I will only facilitate with 10% discount. I hold my anger and told him to proceed with the order. He told us that it will take 20 minutes to prepare the order. My order was around £56. After about 10 minutes, He came to our table and started offereing other items which we never ordered. He told us that we don't have chicken to prepare your order. You should check our wings, you should taste our strips (all these we didn't order). It was very strage as he wasted our 10 minutes. He insisted us again and again to move ahead with other items. I asked him about the refund. I had less cash and balance in my debit card was also low. He didn't tell us that refund will take few days. He could manage this situation by returning us cash but he didn't cooperate at this stage even and made the refund through bank account. So i was left with low cash and very low balance in account. They left us to go no where except home .... While returning back, I told him that you people will loose your customers by not informing about exact situations. He never bothered about loosing customers and didn't care about it. One of my friends faced a similar situation with this takeaway 2 weeks before but still i decided to go to them and try but it was a wrong decision and I will NEVER GO AGAIN there. They are not respecting their customers. It is an era of competition and we have too many options.
Bye Bye...
Read morePlaced order on their website at 11pm. It’s now 1:40am and I don’t have my order. Spoke to restaurant several times who told me a new lie every time, even got me to go stand outside cause ‘the driver had been there 10mins’ but there was no one. The guy hung up on me after speaking to me aggressively on each call, your call won’t always go through either as they can stop them incoming.
I repeated my address several times and they kept saying my ‘number isn’t working’ and ‘there’s no address’. After several of their passive aggressive calls and accusations that I’d done something wrong on my side (this was the 3rd time placing an order from their website and haven’t had an issue before other than missing items and portion sizes), it turned out that the guy was still looking at the completely wrong order!!! An order that I had told was wrong on an earlier call.
The burgers are alright which is why I was ordering for a third time but to be spoken to the way i was just wasn’t right. The restaurant is a 5 minute drive from me and I’ve had to go through all of this on my Saturday night. If they don’t refund it my bank will. I’m a little gutted tbh but they had one job and made a mess of an exact order that they’ve made and delivered twice before. :(
Update: they really charged me for an order they never delivered, this is being refunded through my bank. I forgot to mention in the review that the guy tried to tell me it was 12:30am when it was 1:30am and smugly said ‘yea, yea’ before hanging up on me before I could even respond. The guys...
Read moreI am a highly qualified individual with a Master’s degree and over 3 years of experience working in busy food establishments such as McDonald’s and other takeaway restaurants. Recently, I was looking for work in a halal restaurant and received a call from Chunky Chicken in Glasgow City Centre.
On my first day, I worked a full 8-hour shift without being offered food or even water, and no one discussed my pay or working conditions. On the second day, after completing another 8-hour shift, I asked about the pay rate and duty hours. To my shock, I was told that this was “training” which would last a week, paid at only £3 per hour, and afterwards the rate would be £6 per hour.
For reference, the current minimum wage in the UK is £12.21 per hour. When I refused to work at such an exploitative rate and asked to be paid for the two days I had already worked, they refused to pay me a single penny.
This behaviour is completely unprofessional, unethical, and against UK labour laws. Exploiting workers under the guise of “training” and refusing to pay for hours worked is not only illegal but deeply shameful.
I strongly advise others to avoid working here. No one deserves to be treated with such disrespect. Businesses like this should be held accountable for exploiting...
