We stayed at the premier Inn next door and had breakfast booked for 2 days. We booked our slot the evening before and waited at the door in the morning to be seated. However, there was no one to greet customers. Us and a family in front were waiting ages to be even seen by the minimal front of house members of staff; staff members had their heads down and avoided looking at us both. We finally were seated by, I assume, the manager who failed to greet us. Just 'room number?'
He sat us down and we looked at the menus, made our decisions and waited 30 minutes. No one came over to ask our order and we counted about 3 waitresses for the apparently fully booked up restaurant - we had to take a 8:30am reservation as there were no others. At 30 minutes, we asked for our order to be taken, the waitresses were rude and didn't seem to be in any hurry. The manager took our order at 9am. As more customers arrived, the place filled up and no more waitresses appeared. There was no hurry in any of the staff and customers began queuing out of the door as there was no one on meet and greet.
Our juices and coffees arrived at 9:25am, almost an hour after our booking. At the point the restaurant was almost full and other customers began complaining. We then waited for our hot food. We had to flag down a waitress to ask about our food as, at this point, we hadn't seen any hot food leave the kitchen. Customers were complaining that even cold food wasn't arriving. The whole place was disorganised with no one attempting to even diffuse the ever growing situation.
Our hot food arrived at 9:45am and as it was placed in front of us 1 hour and 15 mins after we sat down, other customers were then starting to look over and ask about their food. It was a domino affect across the restaurant, no apologies from the wait staff and again, no ounce of hurry in any of them.
We ate as the complaints and customers tutting erupted around us, the food was luke warm and over cooked, as if cooked in bulk and has been sat there for ages. But I find this hard to believe, as it was basically the only thing that left the kitchen in the last 30 mins. We quickly finished as the tables had run out and the queue of customers with bookings was out the door. We went back to the premier Inn and complained. Cancelled the breakfast for the next day for a refund. The hotel staff were not at all surprised that we had an awful time, seems like the norm. Don't bother with breakfast, go to a local cafe. Staff were more attentive, food was better, service was excellent. Not so this evening. Staff were sharp- maybe due to understaffing. Not many staff to cater to the customers. I have a hearing disorder that means I find it very difficult to sit in very loud and busy restaurants. When we came in we asked for a quiet corner, the staff member was obliging but also quick to point out that it would get busier as the evening went on. We were fine with other customers- not a problem. I did ask our waiter to ask if the speaker next to our table could be turned off prior to us ordering food. She said it wasn't a problem and that she would be able to get that speaker turned off. The music was causing me discomfort at the level it was playing at. I have asked and had the speaker turned off before-absolutely no problem. We then ordered food. It became apparent that the speaker had been turned down but not off . Our food had arrived by this time so it would have been awkward to leave then. Food wasn't as good as I have already had, wrong order, small portion of fish.......anyway we ate up as we had already ordered and were hungry. I asked the waiter for another drinks order, also to ask the manager to turn the speaker off. A few minutes later a chap appears at the table and asks who it is that has "the problem with the music?" It isn't a problem with the music,it's the volume.if that speaker was turned off like it could have been, and has been before, I would have had a reasonably pleasant meal. He said that it couldn't be turned off as it's part of the whole restaurant. Also it's company policy to have music playing in the restaurants. Fair enough you may have a policy. The manager was unable to produce this policy. He also seemed unable to understand how to turn a speaker off or indeed the reason for lowering the volume. Now, in an environment where there are umpteen speakers in the dining area, surely one being off would not violate company policy? I doubt other customers would even notice. Infact I would have been more than happy to poll the customers around our table as I am confident they would have more customer service skills than all the staff that we met this evening. We...

We were seated promptly, we were introduced to our server, Lynn and our order taken. Lynn was very helpful, courteous and kindly complimented me on my outfit; which was very kind of her. 💜
Drinks order taken promptly and explained helpfully.
Free refill of fizzy drinks. I chose sparkling water and was told I could have a bottle of sparkling water of 750ml or a 330ml can. The bottle was a great option for me!
Also, Lynn explained to us and showed us that we can receive 25% off our next meal of food AND drink. We were able to scan the QR code.
This was above and beyond what we expected! 🤗
Not long after, our hot food arrived on hot plates; which we love. Hot food on cold plates is a big no, no for us.
We all found the food beautifully presented and utterly delicious!
Lynne checked in on us and asked how our meal was very politely and kindly.
My husband was to go and refill his drink for free but Lynn kindly said that she would do for it.
We have never experienced such lovely service before and really appreciated Lynn's attentive service. 💓
We did have desserts and coffee; all beautifully presented, lovely, hot and most delicious! 🥰
Lynn came and checked in with us again to see if everything was fine with our desserts; which we really liked. Really excellent service!

I am sorry that I didn't catch the other lady's name (I think she is the restaurant manager). Her customer service is always excellent, too and it's the same great service at breakfast, as well. 💓
In summary, excellent food, excellent customer service and extremely reasonable prices and excellent value for money!
