Itās just disappointing. Thats why its 1 star. It wasnt gross or vile, it was just didnāt have seasoning, didnāt have character, service was almost completly non-verbal, music was too loud, table was sticky, and when the bill for Ā£83 came I felt fairly ripped off. Three of the five if us have worked as chefs with 18 years experience combined.
To go item by item.
Greek Salad- You can do it better at home, unremarkable, lacking salt, mainly red onion, for some reason slightly warm (???), watery salad tomatoes, low grade olive oil, and mid tier feta. When working with such simple ingredients they need to be of the best quality.
Calamari- 8 pieces (Ā£1 per ring) and they were tiny rings. Batter falling off, a garlic mayo that tasted like the one they serve in a chicken shop, tasted of bitter fryer oil (likely needs changing).
Gyros Pork and Chicken- meat was dry and flavourless, no marinade? Felt like the scraps of the good cuts, tzatziki tatsed of cheap cream cheese mixed with mayo for some reason. I saw another diners review compare it to a wet nappy, Iād say this is correct.
The halloumi version of the gyros was even more bland.
Sweet potato burger- falling of the bit of slate tile it came on, the āsaladā had some balsamic dribbled on it. Working in restaruants its easy to recognise the classic ābriocheā catering services are always trying to sell, cheap, crumbly, and just a bit depressing. One slice of hallumi in the burger so you got a bite of it 30% of the bites. Sweet potatoe patty was forgetable and a waste of a chance to make something tasty.
I know this is in glasgow and not corfu, but it cant be that hard to source greek ingredients and seasonings.
Everything we got served was cold, in fact the greek salad was the only thing served in a heated dishes.
Greek food deserves better representstion. If you want a good meal in glasgow go to SUGO. Prices are nearly the same and you can have a bice meal.
Weāve had better gyros for Ā£6 out a food truck next to a home base in...

My recent dining experience at this charming Greek restaurant left me utterly impressed.
First and foremost, let's talk about the star of the show ā the Lamb Skewers. Succulent, tender, and bursting with flavor, they were grilled to perfection. The marinade was a symphony of Mediterranean spices that made each bite a delight.
The Greek Salad was a refreshing and zesty companion to the lamb. The ingredients were incredibly fresh and crisp, and the feta cheese added a creamy richness that balanced out the acidity of the tomatoes and the tangy olives. It truly transported me to the sunny shores of Greece with its authenticity.
Now, let's not forget the Potato Chips. They weren't your average chips; they were crispy on the outside and wonderfully fluffy on the inside, just as they should be. The seasoning was spot on, and they were the perfect accompaniment to the lamb and salad.
The ambiance at Halloumi is warm and inviting, with a touch of Mediterranean charm. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring that your dining experience is top-notch from start to finish.
Whether you're a Greek food enthusiast or just looking for a fantastic meal in Glasgow, Halloumi should be your go-to spot. The Lamb Skewers, Greek Salad, and Potato Chips combo was a true culinary delight that will keep me coming back for more. Halloumi offers a genuine taste of Greece in the heart of Glasgow ā a culinary journey you won't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been a customer at Halloumi since they first opened years ago, but sadly the service has gone downhill. Iām not sure if management has changed or not, but unfortunately I wonāt be coming back.
I booked a table for 10+ people for a birthday, and they placed us right by the entrance with hardly any space for usāor for the waiters. It got so bad that staff were shouting across the table because they physically couldnāt get past to serve.
When we asked for recommendations on portion sizes (since we were a large group), the waiter simply said, āYou should tell me what you want.ā I pushed back and explained that he should know whether the quantity was too much or too little, but no help was given. Friends also asked for beer recommendations, but with all the noise it was hard to hear. When they ended up ordering something else, the waiter actually said, āIf you ask for a recommendation and choose another one, then why ask?āāunbelievably rude.
We requested a small birthday candle, which never arrived. On top of that, although the service charge was already included and paid, they charged us almost Ā£20 extra without saying a word. I only realised two days later and went backāonly to be met with disbelief until they finally refunded me.
Overall, Halloumi is nothing like it used to be. The service was poor, the attitude was rude, and the experience was disappointing. Sadly, I wonāt...
