Reserved a table for a Saturday night here which requires a ÂŁ10pp deposit in advance. When we arrived and made our way up the narrow staircase to the dining area through a lovely archway made of books we were guided to our table and asked about any allergies etc.and our food and drink orders were taken shortly after. However this is where the night started to go wrong as my house cocktail which cist ÂŁ10 was brought out to me in what I can only describe as an oversized shot glass (picture included). Not long after this another table were sat down by a different server and informed by the staff the the menu was a tapas style menu we had not been informed of this by our server and had only ordered 2 dishes each at this point. The food arrived quite quickly however we only received 3 of the 4 small dishes and were informed that the 4th dish would be with us shortly. After we finished our food we were still waiting on the other dish arriving which has now been around 20 minutes we were not able to ask a server about this as they seem to have an alarm system in place for communication with the kitchen and would scarcely appear in the main dining area outside of this. Quite frustrated at this point and dissatisfied with the overall service we finally managed to speak with a member of staff to let them know we were still missing one of our dishes.Once informed of this we didn't even receive an apology or that they would follow this up with the kitchen to see what had happened. This was definitely the last straw for us and we asked for the bill however we were now worried that this would not arrive or come with the 15% service charge mentioned in another review for what can only be described as terrible customer service. To top it off while waiting for the bill we were nearly given somebody else's food even though by this pint we were already getting ready to leave as we were looking to get out of there as fast as possible. Thankfully the one redeeming thing I can say about my experience was the actual cost as our original server did come over with the bill and apologised for the missing food even giving us a discount with the item also removed from the bill. So we did only pay just over ÂŁ9 in the end with the deposit coming off the bill. Even with the food and drink we got being so cheap I unfortunately cannot recommend this to anyone at the moment I understand that they are quite new to this so I can only hope things improve bit I will not be returning to find out. P. S most of the 5 star reviews look to be the old restaurant that this replaced very cheeky way of misleading customers.

The food was amazing, the service not so great. Booked a table for 8pm had to wait 10 mins to be seated and then a further 20 for any orders to be taken. Ordered a couple of oysters, scallops, octopus and a couple of lobster rolls. We'd been in the restaurant for over an over before the first thing arrived, the oysters which is bizarre because there's no cooking involved. The scallops and octopus arrived at the same time then the lobster rolls arrived just as we were finishing those. The server did mention that the dishes are served tapas style and would arrive when they're ready which is fair enough if it's all small sharing plates but I think they'd be better just listing the menu as starters and mains and serve it like that rather than small and large plates. The lobster roll is main course size and the octopus and scallops starter size so having them all arrive at the table at roughly the same time just makes the whole thing a bit disjointed. Anyway apart from that and the really long wait to be served and any food to arrive at the table, the food itself was amazing and it's a very good menu. The oysters were fresh and tasty, the scallops and octopus were both cooked perfectly and really were top quality. The lobster roll was also excellent and packed full of lobster meat with a big portion of very good fries on the side. The only criticism would be that with the hot lobster roll, whenever I've had a really good one the roll is toasted, it just adds to it and makes it even better but they don't do that in here. The prices are fair especially considering the quality of the food and they serve really good cocktails too. As good as the food is I probably wouldn't rush back though, maybe for a lobster roll at lunchtime but not for dinner

What do you get the woman who needs nothing for Xmas? Well my hubby decided he'd take me out for dinner once a month and I mean out out, not just to the local McDonald's lol. We went to the Fat Lobster as he's been with his ex workmate and they both loved it. He was a bit wary because I'm not that into fish, I do like lobster though so we went along. We had the hot lobster roll and mussels in sauce with peas, scallops and triple cooked chips. What can I say? Cooked to perfection with empty plates at the end. There are just no words good enough to describe the level of expertise from the chefs, absolutely outstanding and the waiting staff are on it! Very attentive. Not a massive menu but a small and perfectly formed one. I even ate scallops for the first time ever as they looked so appetising compared to all the restaurants we'd seen them in. I absolutely loved them. Price was average, the decor is rustic but clean and fashionable. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. So thanks to expert chefs and professional staff, you now have a fish convert but only at the Fat Lobster. I have never eaten so much seafood in one night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If I knew how they got a Michelin star award I'd nominate them. Well done guys. We'll defo be back before my year of decent dining ends (probably more than once) 👌👍 Cheers! Nb... I don't normally take pictures of my food hence no food pics but just look at the other pics on the other reviews. How anyone can give even a mediocre review and sleep at night I'll never know. Take no notice whatsoever of any less...
