Overall it’s not a terrible experience, but I probably wouldn’t go back again. Had quite high expectations as it was renown in London. The atmosphere was very nice, there was only one other table when we went in, but since the music was on and staff were busy and welcoming. We didn’t feel awkward at all. We ordered the tapioca milk tea, papaya salad, Thai calamari, pad Thai and cashew chicken. The food arrived really quickly and it wasn’t cold like the others were saying. So that’s a plus. I did find the pad Thai a bit bland, so I do prefer Ting Thais given the price. Needless to say I was disappointed. But at least it had more “wok hee” than ting Thais. The actual milk tea was really good, it’s got some depth to it. But I did not like the tapioca at all, it’s very different the typical bubble tea tapioca, it’s very soggy and mushy. The Papaya salad was delicious , but they could definitely be more generous as it is just a salad without any meat of any kind. The cashew chicken had a lot more flavourful than the pad Thai. But I do wish they had use chicken thigh as the breast was kinda dry. Bonus points for the cashews (nearly all the times I have had in other restaurants it has been soft, but this one was roasted and super flavourful) The rice is outrageous tho, £3 for a small bowl of rice… The calamari was on the crunchy side in my opinion, almost too crunchy that it felt like chewing on dried bread crumbs. If it had been cut bigger than it would tasted a lot better. Finally the service. As I have mentioned previously, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. We had some issue with the stability of the table and it was resorted very quickly. The only thing that upset me was the payment. The optional service was added to the final bill, which we weren’t aware of.( it’s our fault for not reading the fine print, the % were not stated however) But we were accidentally charged an extra £6 on top of the service charge + final bill. It was odd as the whole transaction happened very quickly. Usually they would input the amount and show you to confirm if it’s okay. She kinda just tapped the card with the machine and didn’t even ask if we wanted a receipt (neither of us saw the amount) It was only when my partner checked his bank soon after to find out that they have charged an extra £6 for no reason. So we had to get another waiter who was very apologetic and resolved it for us quickly. But if it wasn’t for us checking it while we were still in the restaurant. We wouldn’t of known. £6 isn’t a lot of money, but it still left a bad taste...
Read moreOverall this was an extremely disappointing experience. We arrived shortly after 9:00 PM on a Friday night, and waited over 30 minutes until we had to flag down a waitress to get waters and our order put in.
We ordered spring rolls and satay which came out quickly, but the satay was flavorless and tasted as though it had been microwaved.
We then waited over 50 minutes for the rest of our food to come out, and our waitress never came back to check how things were going. We ended up having to get the attention of another server to inquire about our entrees. It turns out our waitress had never submitted them to the kitchen.
The second server and the bar manager were quick to try and rectify the situation, but at that point we had waited well over an hour for two noodle dishes and were left extremely frustrated with the experience. This was mostly due to our original server who failed to ever return to the table after “taking our order” and never apologized even after failing to put the order in, leaving us sitting for close to an hour as other tables were served and closed their checks. We didn’t catch her name, but she was the taller server with straight long hair. Everyone else was helpful when we brought up the issues.
We ended up being the last people in the restaurant as they were in the process of closing up for the night while we rushed to finished our meals.
Props to the bar manager and the server who were not responsible for our section, they were extremely kind and stepped in to make things right. But overall the bulk of the night was extremely frustrating.
UPDATE- THe restaurant manager responded asking me to reach out to them directly because they’d like to hear about the issue directly. Emailed them over a week ago and have received no response. If anyone else leaves a less than favorable review and they ask you to do the same, please don’t waste your time like I wasted mine. Go figure considering the...
Read moreFalse Advertising & Average food! Was looking fwd to trying the highly acclaimed Rosa's, unfortunately it was a dissapointing experience. We booked a table of 5 to take advantage of the special opening offer of a free starter with a main+drink. The offer says per person but the manager decided to change the terms to just 1 free starter for the whole table! A bit ridiculous tbh & implies I would have been better off booking 5 tables for 1 person! Nevertheless, the entire table still ordered a main & drink each as we were excited to try it out.
Food review: Below average. A number of dishes suffered from basic faults. The Summer rolls were awful. Very thick rice paper was used resulting in a chewy mess. The corn patties had way too much batter & were not at all crispy. Pork Skewers were overcooked. The Pad Thai had 5 King prawn in it, was far too sweet & should have come with a warning for diabetics. Beef content in the Masamman was a bit low as well.
Service was also lacking. We had no knives at the table! We managed fine without but they would have been useful tools to have. Had to ask multiple times for some water for the table. Had to do the signature in the air handsign to get anyone's attention 20 mins after we were done eating & then had to wait another bit while they figured out why my free starter email didn't have any code on it.
Suffice to say, we did not have a satisfactory experience at Rosa's & there are far better Thai...
