Found this place by accident on a trip to a Glasgow to see Wishbone Ash playing at the Ferry. Dropped in for a bite to eat, greeted by friendly staff and shown to a table. The eating area is lovely to sit in, had a few bottles of ice cold Corona with fresh lime to flavour. My friend had the burger and huge it was…the chips along with it tasted amazing, I had the steak pie, came in a crockery pot, complete with marrow bone to flavour the gravy. It was excellent, full of meat and came along with mash, roasted carrot and parsnip, broccoli and green beans….highly recommended. It was so comfortable and the staff so helpful that we stayed for another bottle of beer. As we left the bar and eating area had filled up, so customers must know about it… all in all I’ll be back when next visiting….hopefully Wed 19th April when Joe Bonamassa is playing in the Armadillo...flying over again...well I dropped in again that Wednesday, . Not quite as good as before, as there were some items not available on the menu, but had the steak pot again, lacked some veg that I had before but excellent anyway. My friend had the Caesar Salad, had the chicken done to his specification (not too hot) and the service was again outstanding.. back again 15/5/23.. menu again updated, my friend had the ribs, I had buffalo chicken wings with chips as default with both items.. plus the usual bottles of Corona. Went down a treat...
Read moreMy friend and I visited last week before a show but today it was my husband and I who wanted something to eat. We were offered a seat in the elevated restaurant but chose to eat in the bar near the main windows. I pre-empted the waitress by going to the bar to get our drinks myself. We looked at the menu, I was going to choose the steak sandwich but as my husband was interested in this as well I chose the Cajun chicken flatbread with peppers/caramelized onions instead. I also ordered the hand cut fries too.. There wasn't too much of a wait for our meals and looked appetising. My husband had a large plate and this was because his steak/caramel focaccia came with vegetable crisps. My flatbread with plenty of peppers/onions and guacamole spread with lots of rocket covering it looked appetising. Got to say that apart from the bread it was tasty.. It's a shame that the flatbread was very dry and a little hard for the knife to cut through... Would reccommend not serving the bread overdone and not so much rocket over the top of the meal as it looks as though you are trying to hide mistakes. Salad can be served on the side. Overall a nice casual relaxed atmosphere and the price of £14.50 for 2 mains/1 side for city centre wasn't bad and will probably go here again just for the relaxed vibe...
Read moreFrom London - staying nearby and popped in with work colleagues. Don't be fooled by the lack of pomp and ceremony... I doubled checked that they did food... OMW - I'm do glad we stayed. The woman taking our orders advised of the couple items not on the menu. There were 7 of us and we orders starters to share.. haggis balls, haloumi fries, chicken wings and something else...I forget.. alas every single mouthful was simply divine. I love pies so had the beef pie.. the mash was ridiculously smooth and rich. This has to be one of the best filled meaty and hearty pies I've ever tasted. It arrived with a marrow bone in it and the sauce was so rich - it would be such a sin to leave any behind...so I ate very slowly.. it was piping hot and the pastry top was beautifully flaky. Initially I thought I'd rather have a pastry base but they know what they are doing.... it was not required as the lovely veg and mash were more than enough... If I cone back to Glasgow, I will definitely come back and have the fish and chips which looked soo tempting. 100% loved every morsel and all the staff were attentive and the chef knows exactly how to produce amazing food... Extremely great value for money... wow!! ...
