When we arrived at about 6:30pm on a Wednesday, it was quiet and got a table. We had left waxyoconnors as their tables were all booked. wunderbar had no reservations so we sat down at a table for the 8 of us after my sister graduation. Was having a great night, then a member of staff at 8pm put a piece of paper down and mumbled something about it being reserved and just left. We then looked at the piece of paper that said, we had to leave the table at 8:30pm. My mum who needed a seat due to heart and lung conditions and was waiting for a knee operation was worried but we left it as they had just disappeared and we expected they would come back and explain why they had done this. They then came back half an hour later and asked us to move when we politely asked them why as we were a table still buying drinks and I had never experienced this before. Being asked to move whilst you and your party are still using the table. I get it at the start of the night when you sit down and there is a reserved sign, like in waxys it’s made clear this is booked at such a time but they are basically kicking you out for someone else, with no explanation and not notice from staff apart from a quick drop of a piece of paper and no notice on their website that they will do this. My dad then asked to speak to a manger to explain as we knew the server had no power and was behaving like a nippy sweaty when asked any questions, so wasn’t wiling to listened anyway. They then called security/ bouncer and that guy couldnt give two cares, we could have recited Rabbie burns to him and he would have nodded along saying it wasn’t up to him but policy. We just wanted to know the accessibility policy and he was like I’ll give her a seat at the bar, about my mum, but that was up on a high stool but as they were not budging, we took it but that is us away and we’re still waiting on this sat at the bar as it never materialised. Just a lie to get us to move. He was so rude and so was the server at just being questioned on their own policy. I get it’s not their job but we asked repeatedly for a manager and they blanked us so what can you do? When we left there was another party kicked out as there was 18 of them and they needed the table? Surely you can say if a party’s leaves you can get a table but we won’t be kicking them off but that’s not what they do. They think their above common decency, as it a popular place but sorry I’m not a fan of anywhere that treats people...

I am currently a Bar Supervisor of about 3 years (this becomes more relevant later in the review)
We visited here about 3 times on our 4 day holiday after it being recommended by one of the staff at our hotel. The first 2 were absolutely brilliant. The atmosphere was brilliant and the live music every day and fantastic beer really make this venue a must visit. We started on cocktails and moved onto the beer very quickly and stayed on that because of how good it was, including the Guinness which is one of the best I have had, in a personal and professional view. If you are going to visit I highly recommend booking a table as it fills up quickly and all the tables end up full from reservations.
However, on our last day in Glasgow and therefore last time visiting here, ruined our entire experience and out a downer on our first two visits.
To put it shortly, over charging, but not in a way that it was a bit expensive but to a point where it seemed malicious. The more we were going to the bar the more drinks we didn't order we were getting charged for. In all fairness, we were given the drink and not just having our money taken, but we didn't even like the drinks given to us. As previously stated I myself work in a bar and therefore, it is my job to retain and remember drinks order which I am very good at, which is why I believed this was malicious. For example, I ordered a coconut rum and orange juice and a pint of beer, I was charged for and given a pint of beer, a spiced rum and coke and a coconut rum and pineapple juice. I can accept that maybe, maybe with the noise they misheard which juice in the rum, but an entirely new drink which neither me or my partner have ever had before added, made me feel this was on purpose. This continued to happen all night with drinks either wrong or just random drinks added on and payment taken before they were made so we were unaware what we was being charged for.
Despite all of this, I would actually still recommend this place. It was fantastic on our two previous visits, the staff are very friendly and the live music is very very good. Drinks are slightly expensive (compared to where I am from, not local prices) but are worth it as they are top quality, and they clearly pride themselves on good beer. I would just advise you ask the price before you pay to make sure they don't charge you for drinks that...
Read moreFantastic place. However we were absolutely disgusted at the behaviour of the bouncers. I can honestly say I have never experienced such a rude, egotistical bunch in my life (59 year old). We attended Wunderbar last night, a bunch of good girls, for a Hen do. We thoroughly enjoyed a sing song and a dance and had such a good time in the karaoke room. However, the ONLY mic lost charge, we were then informed they only had one mic ????. For a karaoke room to have only one mic is just ridiculous. We had a wee moan about that to management, and given complimentary drinks, fair enough. Hopefully they have taken on board our recommendations to ensure there are enough working mics. So to the bouncers... can I suggest to management if you want to continue with the popularity of your bar, then you must take heed of all the negative reviews folk have left. One of our girls was accused of being caught on cctv "in the toilets"???? taking drugs. This was a complete and utter lie, and is in the process of being investigated. The girl in question was utterly devastated at this blatant lie and slur on her reputation. This was unforgivable. When trying to reason with bouncers their attitude was appalling. A bunch of our girls were all professionals trained in deescalating situations. The bouncers and their attitude completely escalated and heightened a situation that totally avoidable. Management need to get their bouncers sorted out if they want their bar to continue to be as successful. Their mannerisms are very unprofessional and I am convinced that they are deliberately causing issues and inventing false accusations, just for kicks. My question is how would they deal with any actual real trouble???? Sack your current bouncers please (they are the trouble and no doubt causing unnecessary hassle) and hire people who are professionally equipped to do the job. Those guys have no idea the impact their behaviour had on the girl in question. And on the importance of our hen to have the best time ever. Sorry Wunderbar but you thoroughly let down our lovely girls. We will not recommend your bar to...
