After recently moving to Sheffield, me and my partner decided we wanted to visit a nice local steakhouse & after looking at reviews, we decided we’d give chop shop a go… I’m saddened to say it didn’t live up to the hype.
We got to the restaurant late (granted bad on our part) but when we walked in, the table wasn’t ready even though many tables were free? Almost as if they weren’t expecting us? We were told to sit at the bar and wait, which was fine, but we weren’t offered a drink until we had been sat down and then it didn’t come until 25 minutes after arriving. We should have taken this as a sign…
On first observation, harsh or not, everyone looked like it was their first day on shift. You could clearly tell they were short staffed, walking around frantically and seemingly quite unorganised.
The most disappointing part of the experience however was the waiting times for the food. We didn’t get our starter until after an hour of being there, which then had to be sent back because it was at best luke warm meaning we didn’t properly start eating until around 1 hour 15 minutes after arriving. The mains weren’t any quicker either; they arrived 1 hour 45 minutes after our arrival. Which in all honesty, was a shame because the food was actually nice when it was warm.
Now - this is the worst part for me. I’m not sure if there is something wrong with their ventilation but my word both our clothes SMELL. It stinks of oil in the air and it’s left us both with headaches. Whilst this may sound dramatic, I’m regretful to say it was the case.
Lastly, I’d just like to make reference to the staff. Whilst they were very apologetic, nice enough & discounted the bill (as they should), unfortunately this doesn’t make up for an overall poor experience with how slow things were!!!
Honestly, I think you can conclude I don’t think you should waste...

I also don't want to get into a back and forth, and I may remove my 1 star review if I receive a satisfactory repsonse instead of being called idiotic and drunk.
We arrived before 6pm and the place was virtually empty, I find it hard to believe no tables were available at that time (ahead of people arriving for their reserved tables) for a group who wanted to eat quickly before going for their train.
A review from later the same evening even praises you for finding that group a table despite the restaruranmt being busy at that time! Enough said, and goes back to my original issue of our group being instantly dismissed as soon as we stepped in the door for some reason (apparently fully booked, except not for another group of walk-ins later on..)

Wise to call potential customers idiots? And I don't drink Stella as you wrongly presumed. Nor am I drunk. Your flippant response says it all.
We arrived to see many empty tables and having enjoyed eating here previously we were planning to quickly eat and leave for our train. We were (too) briskly told to leave and when we asked why when so many empty tables we were dismissed straight away. Yes it is possible fully booked and yes you cannot magic extra tables but unless all those reserved tables were arriving imminently it seemed v dismissive. It's not 'rocket science' to offer someone a table if it won't be needed until later. If everyone was due to arrive imminently then fair enough but maybe communicate better.

Lots of empty tables, yet oddly turned away... Why? Strange. Never mind, we went next door for excellent pizza. Recommend others...
Read moreVisted Saturday evening as part of a celebration. Start of service was quick, having ordered drinks and food within approx 5-10 minutes of being seated.
Ordered The Chop shop burger and the chicken shack. Food took around an hour to be served which was disappointing. Serveal other tables were heard to complain around the food wait time.
The burger was pleasant and as described.
The chicken served as part of the chicken shack was shocking- the meat within the chicken strip was an abnormal colour appearing purple and grey. Made staff aware, to whom looked shocked and took it back to the kitchen and brought out another.
On the chicken shack description it states " Chicken Mac N cheese" with no mention of chorizo. Due to our previous concern with the quality and colour of the chicken prior we politely asked a staff member if it was chorizo or if this was part of the bad chicken, to which they replied " I dunno " . When we escalated we were concerned it was part of the bad chicken they replied " its chorizo so what is your problem?" Absoloutly shocked by the attitude of this staff member and the food / service received. The rest of the meal was left and we requested the bill.
The bill was paid in full.
No apologies, poor customer service skills and a bad reflection on what was previously a fantastic restaurant having visited before and been very impressed!
A little kindness and understanding goes along way. Although busy, customer service should never be that poor.
Unable to take photos of the meat due to being taken back to the kitchen immediately when noticed.
Unfortunately we will not be visiting again following...
