Let me start by saying the important thing- this shop offers Increadibly good value! Freshly fried chips with a delightful crunch vs standard soggy chip shop fare, good variety on the menu (would have liked to see a burger but given the present global pandemic perfectly understandable that it may be limited to primarily fried goods) and absolutely delighted to see fried halloumi on the menu for an excellent price for a vegetarian option. I got the mini chips portion and the halloumi. Mini chips came in a sturdy cardboard parcel box (love to see that over styrofoam!) with two good sized sticks of battered halloumi rested on the top- less fuss and packaging than other places ive gone to! All for about 3 quid which was more than reasonable to me for a very late lunch but much appreciated lunch :P Staff were exeptionally friendly and communicative- they were catering a large order at the time i went today but they gave us updates and were clearly working hard with the limited staff considering the present pandemic. Didnt take long at all even so, very reasonable five or so minutes for fresh, hearty food! I was also very encouraged to see posters in the window reminding patrons to maintain social distance from each other and keep a mask on while ordering and queueing, and orders taken at a table in the doorway to prevent patrons queueing inside but provision of tables and chairs outside for waiting if required. Felt like a responsibly and thoughtfully run shop from the customer experience to the quality of the food itself to the packaging it came in. It was a spontaneous decision to visit today (owing to watching many people coming away with massive bags stuffed with food while we were parked up for an errand) but we will absolutely come back again soon- its more than worth a...
Read moreIt was the first time I had bought fish and chips from Simpsons in Stroud? The last time I was here it was a different shop. The service and the food were excellent. All credit goes to the two members of staff working there. I arrived at one forty-five, fifteen minutes before they closed at two. They were both cheerful and attentive, and I will certainly call in again in the near future
As promised today, Wednesday 17th of June, just after 12:00 I was in Stroud, and first place of call is my newly found Fish and chip shop. There is the usual polished welcome from the two staff members today who were different from the staff on Saturday. I ordered my fish and chips and with them mushy peas. This time, I sat inside and ate them. Once again, good quality tasting fish and chips. Call in yourselves if you enjoy finding new and refreshing fish and chip shops, and you will not be...
Read moreThe opening of Simpsons Gloucester had more hype around it than the recent Super Bowl so naturally I was rather looking forward to tucking into a delicious portion of chippy chips. I was asked what size portion I would like and trying not too look to greedy I chose a regular. When I was presented with the tiny box I thought to myself that they must’ve given me a child’s portion. I questioned the size and was told that it was indeed a regular. Now I know times are hard but I didn’t realise we were back on rationing! Ignoring the tiny size (suit you Sir) I uttered the famous words “quality of quantity” so I tucked in Even more disappointment followed. I had read reviews of how amazing the chips were and frankly they were nothing special at all. Over cooked and...
