I have been wanting to visit here for ages but the stars have never aligned until Saturday. We were extremely lucky to get a walk in for the two of us.
We were greeted by the owner and shown to a table. As we didn't have any drinks with us Peter suggested Tesco a few doors down and I was able to grab a bottle to enjoy with the meal. The service was wonderful and friendly and it felt like we had been going there for years, with just the right amount of care and advice.
The food was exceptional from start to finish. We had the chicken satay and spring rolls to start and they were beautiful. The satay was amazing and was much darker in colour than any I have had before, but much better in flavour than any I have had before, I would definitely have these again.
For main I had a chicken rendang and my wife ordered gule monkfish. The rendang was again perfect for my tastes. Spicy but flavourful with a generous portion that would satisfy the majority of eaters. I would have had seconds, even though I was stuffed because it was so good.
I can't comment too much on the monkfish as I have a dislike of seafood, but my wife raved about it and said she's having the same again next time without question. So I think that sums it up.
We finished with deserts of a rice pudding dish I think was called bubar, which was black rice and coconut, and the second dish we ordered was a Banana coconut pancake to which I forget the name. Again I couldn't find fault if I tried another 10 out of 10.
At the end of the meal we met owner and chef Ami, who came to chat. It was lovely speaking to the owners and their passion for the food and customer service was clear.
We cannot wait until...
Read moreLittle cosy restaurant with incredible food. Everything we ordered was perfectly made, we especially enjoyed Pergedel Java from the starters, and the lamb Krengsengan was just a master piece. Tender lamb that melts in your mouth , the dish is full of flavor with a bit of heat . Also had chicken soup that was the perfect comfort dish on a cold night and the Satay chicken was the perfect bite. The special Noodles is my new drug , I could eat it every day for the rest of my life. Ani and Peter the owners are very welcoming and accommodating. You can bring your own wine and we enjoyed our dinner with our favorite bottle. We only went yesterday and if the place was open today I would go again. Little gem inside Swansea that will become our regular now. Couldnt...
Read moreI loved the superb food, which is consistently first class and enjoyed a wonderful reception from the staff, as I haven't been there for some time. Cosy atmosphere, prompt service and probably the most authentic Indonesian food in Wales. Good value food with an extremely interesting menu; it is so nice that you bring your own alcoholic drinks which significantly reduces the cost of eating out, especially as there is a Tesco Extra close by, which was useful when we ran out of booze! Total cost of the meal, for seven of us, excluding the bring your own booze of course, but including some soft drinks was only one hundred and sixty pounds, plus the tip. I recommend...
