Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Abington Township

Where do I begin. I rarely write reviews but as a server myself I had to share my thoughts. Was here on 5/24 with my boyfriend and two friends who arrived about 20 minutes before we did. When we got there our two friends still didn't have their drinks. Pathetic. I think it took them almost about 25 minutes to get them. And the weird thing is my friend's blended drink arrived before her boyfriend's draft beer.....I already knew this dining experience was going to be bad. After sitting there for about 10 minutes I was finally able to order a drink. A perfect patron margarita which I asked to be served on the rocks as it comes served straight up...it didn't come served on the rocks. When we finally got to order food, my boyfriend ordered the loaded waffle fries with cheese and bacon. When those arrived at the table I literally laughed out loud because of the four bacon bits on the whole plate. Mind this whole time the server hasn't come up and checked on us. So the food finally arrives. My two friends got burgers cooked to medium and they would have liked them well done but the server never asked them what they preferred. I had a bacon chicken ranch sandwich which wasn't awful but would have loved more ranch on the side. Would have been nice if they server came over at least one time to check on us. My boyfriend also ate his whole meal without a drink because again the server did not check on us one damn time throughout our meal. She wasn't even busy, the restaurant was closer to the empty side and also I saw her standing over by the bar talking to people. Like I said I am a server and I personally work hard for my money but I guess not everyone is the same. That being said I also always tip very very well but I think we left her a $1. Sorry...

THE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE POSSIBLE BEFORE AND AFTER FINDING HAIR IN MY FOOD! I found hair in my plate almost to the end of my meal, when I advised the server she went to get the manager. The Manager Irene or Aileen advised she was TOO BUSY to come to the table and advise there is nothing she could do since I had eaten most of my meal. "I am sorry that I did not think to inspect my plate for hair"! The server Brittany was very nice and she was so apologetic, we tipped her because her service was great and she had nothing to do with the food preparation or lack of management. I decided to call and speak with the General Manager and that was insult added to injury! I reached someone by the name of Christine at first she advise she was a manager as I was speaking to her about my lack of service maybe I was speaking fast enough she decided to cut me off and tell ask "what did the manager do?" If she had the common courtesy of listening to a customer/guest without interrupting she would have known the Manager did nothing! Then she proceeded to tell me that ALL the Managers are in a meeting and all the times I can call back. NO THANKS!!!! This is not about the $40 we spent on a meal, it was about customer service and the lack there of in this case. Applebee's will never have my business again and anyone who have any sense will not go here to eat hair in your food. I am going to report to the Montgomery Health Dept. about this hair in your food continuing issue, I am not the only person who have complained about this. As Christine continued to over talk me, I realized I am not going get any Customer Service here, it like attaching an IV to a stone expecting blood....

Thought about this for sometime , What occurred was about 2 months ago. My wife and I were often visitors of this Applebee's . I Drop my wife off at the door and find parking. When I went in she was seated at a table. She told me the server first tried to put her at a booth. She told the person in his twenties that a Booth wouldn't work since my husband was a big man. He insisted on the Booth and said he could put a chair in the isle for me. Mind you there were plenty of tables since they were not busy at this time. Plenty of tables were empty. The young man gave my wife a dirty look and hard time about getting a table. And was very ignorant and rude to her. Anyway she did get a table. The waiter at the table was very very nice. A server bought us our salads and drinks. We couldn't find our server so my wife went to the counter where the waiters put orders in and ask for something they kept in drawers under that counter. There were two waiters there. She asked the waiter she had the first encounter with to please give her some. He again was very rude and Made a face at her and hissing sound we don't have any, Meanwhile the other waiter reached under the counter and got my wife what she needed. When my wife came back to the table and told me what happened i called for a manager. After about 5 minutes the manager came out and started to try and treat this lightly. Which made me very angry. I told my wife lets go. I told the manager that the server had to go now. He had issues. We left at that point and will never go back there again. Shame because there food is decent.
