The food and service does not live up to the reviews , they were busy but seemed to have plenty of staff based on the groups of employees mingling by the bar , thankfully it’s not too pricey , so if ur willing to take a chance and waste about $80 for 2 people I’d say try it and hope u have better luck.
I was really looking forward to eating here, my spouse and I were visiting Dallas for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary, after seeing all of the reviews of people visiting on their anniversary I was really excited to try this place. We were seated quickly. Our server didn’t really give us any recommendations for appetizers, or ask us if we had been here before which was really disappointing.
Appetizers- We order the mozzarella, prosciutto cheese sticks and the bruschetta.
The bruschetta was really good and tasted fresh. The mozzarella cheese sticks were burnt and had no flavor. Caesar salad was mediocre we ordered 2 and only received one. Nothing interesting about them besides the fried cheese instead of croutons.
For our meals we ordered the chicken scalpolini , half order of joeys bolognese and half order of carbonara. This is where i became extremely disappointed, the carbonara literally tasted like Alfredo and just had burnt bacon on top, the scalpolini was ok , just tasted like chicken picatta nothing special about it. Joeys bolognese was ok , it reminded me of the bolognese you’d get at school as a kid , decent flavor profile but nothing special.
Our server wasn’t really friendly and didn’t even bring us any of our food someone from the back brought it, I did pull her aside to ask her about the carbonara I had ordered since she did not check on us after we got our food . I mentioned to her that is tasted like Alfredo and no other carbonara I’ve had she said “the carbonara is just Alfredo sauce whipped with egg to make it creamy and they just add bacon on it” I was shocked to hear this and asked her about prosciutto because carbonara typically has prosciutto, she then told me she could “bring me a side of prosciutto to mix into the pasta” this experience was overwhelming disappointing , our server didn’t offer to switch out our meals or comp them even after seeing that we barely ate our food and said we wouldn’t be taking the rest home. I did try the cheesecake and it was just as disappointing as the entree but we did manage to...
Read moreVictoria the waitress was wonderful. The food was awful, zero flavor, no salt no pepper, low grade zero flavor mozzarella. Spaghetti was awful, eggplant soggy with oil, zero zero flavor: Caesar salad ok, huge chunks of core romaine lettuce not one green leafy leaf… Now, my father owned restaurants… is Italian and so I was expecting Italian food with oregano, garlic, basil … delicious mozzarella cheese. My friend had Veal and it unfortunately was not fresh. Now they comped our meals and that was nice. But it was all bad we still paid for the other items. The meatballs were not very good definitely needs an update on the recipe. Now if you’re looking for quasi Italian cuisine it will do but I was very disappointed with the food. Clearly whoever is in the kitchen is not Italian because no Italian would serve this food. I was sad because I picked this restaurant and it was the worst Italian food I’ve ever tasted but I grew up in an Italian family with delicious flavorful fresh Italian food so maybe my standards are different. Invest in an Italian Chef, because this food was not Italian or maybe re-visit the menu preparation standards. This food had zero salt zero pepper zero garlic and zero organic, bland and blah. The mozzarella cheese was not very good it was not tasty and maybe add basil and parsley something 😬 Again if you’re Italian this may not be the best option. I was disappointed to say the least and felt it was a waste of my money. I appreciate our waitress it’s not her fault she has to serve the food but I’m positive the problem is in the kitchen . It’s was just not very...
Read moreI can’t say enough about Kenny’s. This is the best Italian spot in Dallas, bar none. We have been quite a few times and they have knocked it out of the park every time. We went last night to celebrate my sons’s birthday and it was again outstanding, but last night also showed why the are the best and not just for the food. The service is on another level. My wife had mentioned when making the reservation that we were celebrating our son’s birthday. At the end of the meal, our server, Kayla (she is awesome by the way and knows the menu front to back) brought our son a cannoli. If that wasn’t enough, the manager, Cody, came out with a handwritten birthday card, signed by several staff, along with a gift card for a future visit. Who does this? My son was surprised, to say the least. This is above and beyond what is expected of any restaurant. Not that we needed a reason to come back, but these gestures sealed the deal for us.
As for the food, ask for the “Ricardo.” Now tie pasta with mushroom cream sauce topped with blackened chicken. WOW! Mushroom ravioli is also top notch. And of course they are known for amazing chicken parm.
If you haven’t been, you need to make this next, and only place for great Italian food and wonderful staff.
Ask to have Kayla or Cassie for service. They are fun and provide top level service. Cassie wasn’t even our server but remembered us from a previous visit and stopped just to say hi. You better keep those two Kenny.
Sorry, no photos. I am there to eat...
