THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!! I suggested that we order lunch from here for our office. NEVER AGAIN!!! The waiter Curt (at least that's what he said his name was as he walked away) had to be the RUDEST waiter I have ever seen. The place was VERY smokey and because I have asthma I immediately started coughing. He asked if I was ok I told him no the smoke triggered my asthma. Not once did he offer water to held with the cough. When I got my order, it was wrong. I told Curt that one of the items was missing. He began to argue and said no that's all you ordered. I told him which item was missing and he said no you didn't order that. I smiled and said may I please get your cajun combo. He turned and rang up another ticket. I looked at my ticket and the prices on the menu differed from that on the menu in the restaurant. I mentioned it to Curt and he said updating the website wasn't his job as he walked away. When he came back, I asked to speak with the manager. He said the owner is in the back. I said may I speak with him please. He walked to the other end of the bar and then went to the back, stayed about 2-3 minutes and said that the owner must have let for lunch. He never stopped walking while talking to me. He said he could make the adjustment to my bill but, instead of taking care of me, he took the order of two other customers that had just walked in. I gave him my money and he threw my change on the counter. I left it there. I was always told you only throw to animals or to a teammate during sports. Neither applied to me. If this is a representation of how you treat your customers at this establishment, you will lose more than my co-workers and me as future customers. This was my first visit and DEFINITELY my LAST!!!
One star is too much 1/4 star because my food was cold and not good! THE WORST...
Read moreFirst; This Shuck & Jive is NOT affiliated with the Shuck & Jives located off the Turnpike & on Greenville Ave. I wanted to make this clear as I wasn't aware until the man waiting on us made it clear. Second; Smoking allowed inside! I wasn't aware Addison was one of the few jurisdictions in DFW left that people could still have smoking in businesses/restaurants.
Guy who waited on us was friendly, but he never introduced himself so I'm not sure of his name. My fiance & I visited on a Saturday afternoon, dark, smokey & small area open at this time. Food was okay. I had the shrimp PO boy, pretty good, huge sandwich & a ton of fries (fries were delicious). My fiance had the catfish filets, his first filet was okay he stated, the second he said seemed undercooked. He mostly just ate his fries. The filets were large but not worth it when they weren't edible. His "red beans & rice" was a tsp of rice with a spoonful of beans poured into a ketchup serving cup. Seems like a place for mostly middle aged people to smoke & day drink, as that was what was going on as we came & left. Just an odd atmosphere for Addison being such a lively place with a mostly younger crowd. Plenty of large TVs to watch whatever sport is in season. Very loud, & it wasn't the TVs or even the customers, it was the men who worked there. My fiance & I had to yell at each other to hear one another & we were sitting at a two-top table. Not a terrible place if smoking & drinking in a small space is your thing. Food isn't anything I'd go back for...
Read moreI am from Louisiana and really have high expectations of a Cajun-esque seafood restaurant. I first went here about 4 years ago and sampled the seafood poboy and gumbo. The poboy was fine but the gumbo was bitter from a too dark, possibly beef based roux. Flash forward five years and I'm once again working in the area so I decided to try it again. This time I had the fish tacos with fries. Let me tell you I was expecting some phenomenal fish (fried) tacos. They were not. By any means.
The fries were really good and I like to eat my fries while they are hot. I first noticed the tortilla was a little hard on the edges, not crispy as in fried lightly in oil but possibly bordering on stale although I hope I'm wrong. I take a bite of the taco which came with a cabbage slaw and some spicy type of aoli. The slaw would have been better with pickled red cabbage. The fish was not fresh or freshly fried. It tasted oddly similar to frozen fish. I say this because the edges of the fish were hard and dried out. I continued to pick at my fish, mainly at the center where the meat was somewhat flaky and not dehydrated. Meanwhile a neighboring patron feasted on a mighty fine looking seafood platter.
Pennywise, the price was reasonable for 2 large albeit dry fish tacos and fries along with a very large drink bringing my tab to a little over $8 with tax. However, the quality of the tacos made it seem less of a deal. I really hope they read this review and make some improvements on items outside of the customary...
