New chef and boy did it show! My family and I used to love to eat here but never again! My mom ordered a breakfast item but wanted scrambled eggs rather than a poached egg (people are funny about how their eggs are prepared) we were told sternly that the chef would not ever change an item and that we were to order it as it was on the menu. The waitress said that the chef had given her strict orders and she told us throughout ordering, after we ordered and as we were leaving. We got it! We will not change the menu! (Even though the menu said "roached egg" not poached egg. But ok. We have a Seinfeld episode here, this reminded me of "no soup for you!" Our food took 35-40 min to arrive. No one else had ordered. The place was empty. One meal came out first. My mom and I waited 5 min for ours. My toast took an additional 10 minutes. Have you ever seen toast like this? I didn't order croutons.. I ordered toast. But, ok. The first 2 pieces were ok since they were hot and the rest of my meal was ice cold. My third piece cut my mouth it was so hard. Probably why baguettes are not used for toast...! We were told by the waitress that the chef only uses all "Alaskan" items, nothing off the truck like the last company and that not only is she a chef, but a pastry chef. We were still hungry because our meal was terrible so we thought... how bad can dessert be? Oh.. it's bad. Not only are the torte crusts not fresh but the fruit was spoiled. The strawberry was literally cut in half but the chef still left it on my plate to eat. If you say everything is made from scratch, please... don't use crusts that are obviously not... Also, putting an unwrapped dirty wet wipe on a dessert plate is unappetizing. Maybe it was placed to keep the bowl on the plate but.. gross! A wet wipe was not provided for the other two desserts. We removed the bowl so the wet wipe could be seen clearly in the photo. The floors were un-swept. Wait staff polished silverware as they placed it, an extension cord was rolled up under the table going nowhere ... we also had waitstaff interrupting our dinner by bad talking the previous contract by name by not one but two employees... I loved the old restaurant and talking badly about the previous contract will not change my mind... my tastebuds do and I can tell you, it was an epic fail.

Muse was a great place to take a break and have a snack or light meal while visiting the many exhibits and floors of the Anchorage Museum. It's run by Crush Wine Bistro which is one of the nicer restaurants in town nearby so you're definitely getting a local, nice fare while at the museum. There are a handful of vegetarian options including 2 salads, baked make and cheese, falafel, a grilled cheese sandwich, and a couple of bowls. So a decent amount of things to choose from along with wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks galore. My wife and I shared the goat cheese salad which we thought was really fresh, good, and hearty enough for the two of us...especially when I added the grilled cheese sandwich...a very slightly upscale version of a basic grilled cheese with American cheese...no bells or whistles here, possibly a tiny bit saltier than I would have liked it to be...but not over-buttered...it was almost like it was very lightly grilled or baked even so, despite it being a grilled cheese, it felt a little bit healthier. You order at the counter and they bring you your food into the dining area which had plenty of comfortable places to sit. I don't know that we would head to Muse on it's own, but it was a perfect and satisfying place to go while visiting the museum.

I’ve been here before with relatively good service and food. But last night was terrible. We waited over an hour for food. My steak came out lukewarm and my fries were cold and hard. Thankfully the waitress brought me new fries, but nothing could be done about the steak (and at this point I was too hungry to care. On top of that, steak was tiny and we left hungry. Normally, I would have assumed a comped dessert or something but the waitress had the audacity to ask if we wanted to order dessert. You can do better Muse. The one shining light was whatever the dressing was on my little salad because it was scrumptious and amazing.

Terrible. I'm being generous with 1 star.

When you walk in the cafe looks pretty nice, the menu items sound delicious. The actual food.... nope. I ordered a chicken sandwich. I could see it was burnt when the waitress brought it out and as soon as she set the plate down I told her it was. She looked at me like I was crazy and told me that it was not burnt..... when everyone at my table looked at the chicken they looked back at her like she was crazy and agreed that what she brought WAS burned (I did not order any blackened or BBQ chicken) she seemed annoyed and said that She would ask if the chicken could be remade and then asked if it could not be made would I want something different. I asked that I would like what I ordered without the burned chicken and if it could only come out burned then I did not need anything. She came out to let us know that the chicken would be remade. This 2nd sandwich was not burned I took a bite and a friend of mine took a bite only to be grossed out by the smell. If they will let you I suggest ordering from the kids menu (if you can't make it to a different place or home to cook that is)I can't recall the exact name of the sandwich but ultimately I received smelly fried chicken on a decent bun that included Cole slaw and caramelized onions with pickles hot sauce on the side. Took one bite and ended up only eating the cole slaw, my friend ate a quarter of the bun and we left it there.... I will never go back to actually eat here. I can't say that the waitress was terrible (I tipped her well even thought it was not without a turn in my stomach doing so) but she was not great either as I've never had a waitress argue about something that was so clear as burned chicken, to myself and the rest of the people at my table. The salad is nothing special but edible, the fries are fine. None of it though is worth the price you will pay once the bill arrives Oh yeah, and the...

Our entire experience was terrible. We waited for the hostess for 5 minutes. She said she would be check to see if there was a table available and was gone for another 5 minutes. When she came back there was zero communication about whether or not we would be seated, she straightened and then flipped through a few menus before telling us We could follow her. It was an extremely long time before our waiter came over with water and he took our drink order and walked away before we could order or meals. Nothing happened in a timely manner. We ordered our appetizers and meals and waited. 10 minutes after we received our appetizers we were told that the kitchen was out of broccoli for their chicken, goat cheese and broccoli linguine. They offered asparagus as a substitute. Somehow the linguine came out 5 minutes before my husbands meal. The food was very disappointing. The chicken pot pie was more like a soup and the linguine was unimpressive. When we received our bill it was less than we expected. We assumed that our waiter had comped one of our meals because the kitchen wasn't able to prepare the linguine as stated. We paid with a credit card and were more than a little upset when the amount charged was almost $30 more! The waiter realized he forgot to charge us and printed a new bill and ran our card without notifying us! ...
