I must have done something to offend these guys or something.
It was the service I am taking issue with here, the food is average for authentic NYC Italian places and this more then Hits the mark for Anchorage.
So, I walk up to the glass at the counter and the young lady at the register was in the phone talking about non-pizza stuff, not taking orders, it was a personal call, all the while rubbing her teeth with her rubber food glove. This went on for like 2 actual minutes as I stood there. Very rude, she was looking straight through me.
The another lady came up smiling and took my order, two slices.
I sat at my table and after 10 min, I went up to the counter to see if I missed them, and the lady says “Oh yeah, let me get you your cold slices”, I was thinking “what is a cold slice”.
She hands me a take-out box with the unheated slices in them, and I say “Can you heat these up please” and she says “you want this hot?!” And I say “of course”. I am from the east coast and have never had to special order hot pizza slices.
They threw them in the oven for like 2 min and gave me these sad luke warm slices in a take out box.
Everyone one else that came in didn’t have to special order hot slices on a plate.
It was rude. I don’t know if they did it on purpose, but I work hard for my money and don’t deserve to be treated like an asshole.
Instead of eat my second-class-citezen meal. I threw it in garbage (it is bad for hunger but good for the...
Read moreWowza! Who knew that there is a portal to New York City right here in Anchorage, Alaska? I used to live in New York City, and I have missed the flavors and crusts and sauces of authentic Italian cuisine since moving away. At Saverio's, from the moment I step into the door, I'm back in NYC, excited to eat life changingly good food. Yes. I had the small Mediterranean salad and the cannelloni. As I waited, I listened to the Italian music while watching one of my favorite Netflix shows, with no sound, but subtitles. I soaked in the bustling to-go counter, I enjoyed hearing the laughter of a table of men who looked like they just got off work and got together for beers, pasta and pizza. I had ordered my food at the counter and was happily surprised when my amazing salad came out and the runner rushed to bring me a set of silverware. My cannelloni had a healing effect on my spirit. The sauce, the flavors, the textures and the bread crescendoed into a cascade of comfort. Comfort food. Kind, authentic, people. This is my new favorite restaurant. I can't wait to try the pizza.
Update:. The pizza is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! It is so great to mix and match slices. I've also ordered a full pizza. My favorite is the bruschetta, but love also the five cheese and the jalapeno one. ...
Read moreWhen my partner suggested we eat here, I was thinking that this would be just another pizza place with greasy pizza, dirty floors, and blunt staff that you can tell just can’t wait to get off work. That I not what I got at all. This place had an atmosphere that immediately raised my opinion, the place was clean! And it was quirky and had a lot of personality, I was even impressed with the bathroom funny enough! But the pizza is what did it in for me. I got this cheesy mushroom spinach pizza, I have genuinely never been so immediately impressed by the mere flavor of a pizza before. It was so so so good. And these slices were huge, they did not skimp out on toppings at all. The crust was beautiful, perfect. The staff were so amazing. They were kind and had genuine smiles, amazing service. We were left alone the perfect amount. We also didn’t realize that we were there past closing, they didn’t say anything and they let us eat. We were the last people and didn’t even know until another person tried coming in to order. I can tell that this place is so loved by the people who own it and work there. This was the most quality restaurant that I have been to in a very long time. Very few places have...
