I have been on a relentless journey, a tireless search, a never ending pursuit of my "White Whale." For years I have traveled on a tumultuous black sea of bitter overroasted sludge. During my voyage, I have searched through the rolling hills of Umbria, the beautiful countryside of Tuscana and the busy ports of Trieste; only always to leave me feeling incomplete confused and unquenched. Many merchants have tried to lure me in with their sweet confections, chocolate covered masks and fluffy pillows of creamy designs. They try and hook you with fancy hand crafted machines, trendy pour overs and stories of single origin beans picked by a 120 year old blind goat hearder. After years of anguish and frustration have I reached the summit, the pinnacle, the end of my quest? Located in a cozy unpretentious building, you walk in and are immediately greeted with the essence of carefully roasted beans and the beautiful aromatic bouquet of perfection. As I wait in anticipation, I can hear the sound of burrs grinding, steam expelling and espresso extracting. I watch as ground beans and pressurized water slowly transform from an earthy umber to a velvety carmel; creating an exquisite nutty nectar. Do I dare sip of this cup? Will my tired taste buds be tormented once again? I slowly sip the heavenly concoction! My husband and I were looking for a random coffee shop to kill some time before a concert and came across this place. When we came in we were immediately greeted by a very nice man who I’m assuming is the owner. He informed us that the shop was actually closed but he would be happy to make us some to go drinks. We didn’t want to impose so we said we’d come back another time. He then offered a drink on the house of our choosing. It was delicious! I wish we had some cash on us to tip him, but we will absolutely be back another time during his actual hours and will tip him for sure! Beautiful, unique coffee shop and very friendly service! I've been here a few times and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The atmosphere is quirky but laid back, and it is just a very calm and chill place. Truthfully, it is very much like how I envision coffeeshops in movies to be like. The owner makes all the drinks by hand right in front of you and he is a great guy who, if it's not too busy, enjoys a chat with you as he makes your drink. Which by the way, speaking of drinks, are some of the best espresso drinks in ABQ. There's some chairs outdoors and some seats inside.
