Listen, Laynes is SO DAMN GOOD, and to me, it's 1000 times better than Cane's in flavor. Which is why it hurts me to put a low review...most likely the issue is this location. Reason? They've been getting our orders wrong for the past 5 times in a row that I've been there. So I'm writing this review in hopes that someone sees this to make this location better.

And it usually happens when we order for a family of 4. If it's just me, it's usually fine...any more than that, it's like they don't pay attention to the order and just assume by looking at the number of pieces and don't read the rest.

I ask for spicy, they give me regular, I ask for Gravy, they give us Laynes sauce... I let it go the first couple times but now it's gotten too frequent. All I would like is for the staff to start paying attention to the actual orders. I dont want to have to stop and hold the line to check my order because I no longer trust them. Then when I check, I end up being right. They mess it up every single time. It's so unfortunate, because again, they're so good.

Another thing that has been kinda bothering me lately is there service. Nobody smiles, nobody says have a good day, nobody actually acknowledges.

For example, this last time, I personally went inside to let them know that they forgot the gravy, he did apologize and gave me gravy, but when I brought to his attention that this is the 3rd time this Gravy thing has happened(not including the othe rthings they messed up before), in a very nice way btw, and to please have the people who make it to double check the orders. It's like he didn't know what to say and just stayed there staring at me....didn't even acknowledge, I just walked away. I dont know if the people that work there are just socially awkward or what, but its been like that recently, which sucks.

Their food delicious, their customer service though, definitely lacks. And for that, I'm giving a 2 star since it has been going on for too long now.

I may change my review if this gets fixed. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend this location to anybody if I'm...

First time to visiting such place thinking of Having g a good experience, but... augh! To begin with I had a new team member helping on front counter struggling to survive without any help in spite of the fact of having 5 people around him! Nobody coaching the poor guy helpless trying to guess such complicated keyboard for him at that time while 3 of them by drive thru having shakes and chit chatting without even acknowledging me , I patiently waited for 5 minutes or so till the front counter guy got through with his customer, I understood right away he was a newbie for he didn't even know where the small shake key was, finally another associate who was wiping counters down harshly yelled: "Small is the same as regular!" Well I only ordered a small shake and a regular lemonade, he typed the wrong flavor which after me telling him he replied he would correct it because he would make the order himself. To finish it up he ended charging me only for one item and told him it was not right that he needed to correct it but se ignored me so I just nodded my head only then finally another employee approached me asking if everything was OK, I explained and complained about the other people not helping and doing nothing then he apologized identifying himself as " Pedro" who by the way was the cook and the store manager being very apologetic and saying they were in training for a longer time. so anyway I will absolutely never come back to such place with a lack of service...ps. pedro corrected the amount so I did pay the right...

The food here is pretty good. They really keep me coming back for the fries. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the toast but that's just my opinion. Slightly more objective though is the inconsistency in the doneness of the chicken. Sometimes it's fantastic- perfectly done and tender, other times it is basically battered chicken jerky. Usually though, it's good. What really bothers me about this place is that every time I order, I have absolutely no idea what will be coming through the window to my car. Genuinely I tell you, maybe only 15-20% of the time is what I ordered actually what comes through the window. I always ask for no toast, sub extra fries, and I'd say about 50% of the time the toast is still there, sometimes with and sometimes without the extra fries that were supposed to replace it. If you request no drink, there may or may not be a small discount. I'm fairly sure there is supposed to be per company policy, but it seems utterly random. Sometimes I get extra or missing fingers, sauces, or incorrect sauces. A few times, I have gotten an entirely different order and didn't notice til I got home that instead of original fingers and fries - I had a spicy/bbq sandwich with cheese, on the toast I'm not especially fond of.

I guess what I'm saying is this - if you feel like you need to gamble just a little bit when you are hungry - go here. If you will be bothered by an incorrect order, you will be bothered probably 8-9...

Been passing Laynes for about a year now and decided to stop in and check them out. I was the only one in the restaurant, so I felt like I could take my time and check out the menu. I was warmly greeted by the woman behind the counter and given some great guidance. She told me that everything is customizable, so if you don't want toast you can get extra fries or vice versa. I told her that my mom and I would be splitting a meal, so at first she recommended getting two three piece boxes as we could each get our own drink. But, I asked how much it would be for a five piece and to add three extra tenders. The latter turned out to be less expensive, so I went with that. While I waited for my food, as they make it to order, I checked out their teas. Their tea was amazing. I did a 75% unsweetened to 25% sweetend mix and it was just right. Tried the chicken tenders and fries and they were food. Definitely a good value for the price. I liked the variery of sauces (their house made sauce is the best one) and that I had the option to swap things out. Also, because it was my first time there the lady gave me all of the sauces to try.. However, the fries were a little softer than I would liked and it does very much remind me of RC--nothing really wowed me about the food. But, the tea and customer service was great!

I consider myself quite the lanes vs canes connoisseur since I went to Texas A&M and did a side by side comparison where I rated each menu item against each other. Don't be fooled thinking this is the same food at the Layne's in college station. There's no potato salad which was a big bummer, because I always liked that Layne's had that as a side instead of coleslaw (because I don't like slaw). The chicken is also different. The best way I can describe it is an in between of college station Layne's chicken and canes chicken. The breading at this Layne's is much more like canes where it's crispy and flaky as opposed to original Layne's where it's more on the chicken itself. I always liked canes chicken better, so this worked out for me here. They also have more menu options here than the college station one, I assume to appeal to people other than Aggies looking for a nostalgic dinner. The service was good, and it's nice not having to deal with the complete inconsistency in quality that the college station laynes has. Overall though it's similar enough and is a tasty meal for even those who didn't go to Texas A&M and experience the original.

Since Cane's has gone downhill, I was excited to try Layne's after reading such glowing reviews. Boy did I make a huge $15 mistake! It was the worst tasting chicken I have ever had and I am probably the least picky eater ever. I bought the 5 piece spicy and every piece tasted burned & bitter and I'm not even sure it was actually spicy because there was only the slightest hint of spice every now and then. Idk if it's because it was right before closing and they had been sitting under heat lamps for hours or what, but it was not fit to be served and should have been in the trash. The fries and the toast were good, but I came for spicy chicken and that was a horrible, expensive disappointment. The sauce is Cane's sauce plus a little BBQ sauce added maybe. It's definitely not better, especially on bitter, burned chicken. And the drive thru staff weren't even friendly. No smiles or even a hi and they slammed & locked the drive thru window before I even drove away. I get that it's closing time, but I'm still a paying customer and I didn't keep you one minute past close. It was just a terrible experience all around.
