My wife and I enjoyed a thoroughly sumptuous lunch at Numero 28 in Allen. We started with the Garlic Foccacia bread, a tasty bread seasoned with garlic and a hint of rosemary. We then had the Arancina Tradizionale, perhaps the best arancina we have ever had. The saffron risotto was full-bodied and flavorful. The Bolognese meat sauce perfectly complemented the appetizer. We then had the Alla Cesare with nicely shaved parmesan and a subtle dressing. My wife had the Spinach and Ricotta Cheese Ravioli, mouthwatering heavenly pasta packets of flavor and lightness. I had the Bucatini All'amatriciana, larger spaghetti served with a pork-based mildly-spicy tomato sauce. I loved the Italian umami of this dish so satisfying with the interplay of subtle seasoning and delectable richness. And as if it couldn't get any better, we opted for the Tiramisu. We both have eaten at exquisite restaurants all over the world, but we can categorically report that the best tiramisu we have ever had was here in beautiful Allen, Texas. Who knew? The wisps of coffee and cocoa energized our senses as we consumed this dream of a dessert. This smooth, soothing, decadent yet amazingly light dessert left us both replete. Put this restaurant on your list if you want authentic Italian fare expertly prepared and presented. There was love and joy in each dish!

Per a bunch of recommendations we tried Numero 28; pizza was definitely good; got the Austin pizza which was really good! We got the trio bruschette which was good; we liked the pureed artichoke the best, didn’t care for the us dried tomato one. Also ordered the gnocchi which were soft and light, very nice. Atmosphere is good, just like any other smaller shopping center restaurant, service was friendlier than most. I will say I was disappointed because we asked for boxes so they take your food in the back to be packaged, the server returned with a styrofoam box, I asked her if everything was in there because I had sent 75% of my gnocchi and 75% of a pizza to get boxed and she said yes. Because it was tied I didn’t want to insult her. Get home to find gnocchi not in the box, waste of $20. I’m sure this is an exception but definitely annoying.

Nice little place to have dinner with friends. We went on a weekday night, it wasn't that busy & we got seated right away. My friend had the Lasagna Bolognese & I had the Cannelloni Con Punghi, both of our entrees were very generous portions! We both really enjoyed our food. The wait wasn't long & the bread they gave us while waiting was also good. The place seemed clean, people seemed to enjoy working there which is always a plus. The table for two was a little small. We also felt a little rushed, there were people outside but not many in the inside, actually we might have been the only ones left but it was a good half hour before closing when a lot of closing duties were happening. Staff was very nice though. It is a cute place, parking is up front which is convenient. I'd go back & recommend you try them.

The prices are absurd, the menu is ignorant, and the services was non-existent. It all starts with the way the owner conducts the operation. The owners' responses to low Star reviews show that he thinks his operation deserves high-end consideration because some of his staff members are Italian but that's just delusion. Read the menu and anything other than ordering a pizza is rather inconsistent. The antipasti items are much more like Secondi or Contorni items. The pasta items for order are so expensive that it confuses patrons in to expecting the possibility of two items with the order. The Piatti Forti items contain descriptions that elude to the concept of meet served on top of pasta...sometimes... but sometimes not....sometimes served with vegetables. Very inconsistent and confusing which is why the owner should train the wait staff to offer presentation. The waitress was absolutely nothing more than and order taker...if you were lucky to get that much of her attention. My group came for Ferragosto and it was just a cluster of people being lucky to find a random seat. Random people are my table, as well as the others got random attention and orders taken from this waitress. I order a Morretti and a Peroni expecting them to be on draft. What type of an establishment that attempts to market itself as an pizzeria doesn't have Italian beer on tap...what a fake bar. The waitress returns to my table 15 minutes after ordering the beverage to proceed to pour a bottle of beer into a water glass. The owner should had trained her to be more humble and state that the beer was only in bottle and then ask with words or body language if it were okay for her to pour the damn bottle beer into the damn water glass. No, it is not okay because that way it tastes like crap. With no explanation of the menu I ordered Insalata Mista Verde for $12 which was worth $2. Where do you get off thinking it's worth $12? Nothing more than a small portion of packaged spring lettuce and a few cherry tomatoes. Worst of all was that it was brought to me after all the members of my table had already finished half their meal and it was brought at the same time as my pathetic Cacio e Peppe. It's not Cacio e Peppe, rather a lie because it's no longer Cacio e Pepe when the owner uses butter to make the sauce. It was very dry and worst of all the portion size was only a few spoon scoops yet charged me $20. Not one bit of protein in my dinner which cost me $64. 2 flat beers and a massive automatic gratuity racked up my bill for a horrible night. Oh..and how did I finally get to pay? I promise you that many of the members in my party had left 45 minutes before I finally got to pay. The waitress took sweet time waiting one by one to ask people to circle the times they were paying for on one printout receipt which she had in her hand. What a slow way to again not offer any service. Upon paying my bill there was another line for other tip which I filled out and offered more tip because I know this is the type of owner who pays his staff $2/hr and relies on his patrons to pay his staff members for their untrained work. After this sorry evening, I had to go home and cook a decent dinner. I think I should get my money back. Train your staff to present the menu and check on your customers. It's not hard to be a waitress. You just have to present and care about...

WORST SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED! I wish I took a picture to show how insane this was. But my husband and I showed up with our 2 kids for an early dinner around 5pm on a Saturday and it seems that it was the owner who greeted us as she was dressed in normal clothes unlike the other employees. Instead of welcoming and greeting us, she immediately asks us if we have a reservation and I said no. She proceeds to tell us she cannot sit us inside and asks if we would sit outside. I looked around the restaurant that probably has about 10 tables and every single one was empty! I asked why we couldn’t sit inside and she said she “usually gets busy” around 6pm and she needs to be able to guarantee she can turn the table in time for her potential future customers. I told her we didn’t want to sit outside in the heat and she said well I can turn on a fan. My husband had been excited to try this place so we took the outside table. At no point does she apologize or even offer a smile. Instead she comes back to the table with her business card and bluntly says “here, so that next time you can make a reservation “. At that point we decided to get up and leave because of the lack of kind service and audacity to treat customers this way. It is beyond me why she could not seat us in one of her many empty tables for a rush she was simply predicting and would rather make the customers that are actually there sit outside in Texas summer heat. But then to not even be nice, welcoming or apologetic about it. But I guess things happen for a reason because We ended up going to Roman Cucina instead for the first time and they blew us away with not only the food but the...

I really wanted to like this place but sadly the experience was not good. The restaurant is family friendly and crowded during our visit. The two of us were seated at a table for 4 and the owner rushed over and said we must move to a table for 2 and would comp either an appetizer or dessert. Ok, that was fine. I have an allergy to garlic and onion and asked about certain dishes. The owner said no problem with sauces but checked anyway and all had garlic. I settled for the steak which no extra seasoning. The wrong wine was brought and thus returned. Our salad sat under the food light for 15 minutes before brought to the table because the owner was our waiter. She couldn't quit micro managing the staff and pay attention to the tables under her care. My steak arrived with garlic sauce on top even though I requested simple seasoning and no sauce. Had to send my food back and by the time it was delivered, my husband was done. The food is excellent but the service was terrible. Lastly, the owner slapped our bill on the table without presenting a dessert menu. What happened to comping an appetizer or dessert? My husband said forget it and sent his card to pay. A receipt was returned with no place to sign. We could have walked with no signature and no gratuity. My honest husband grabbed a waiter and asked if our receipt was normal and of course it wasn't. Our card had to be rerun but we left a modest tip because frankly the experience was horrible. It was our first and last time we'll visit...
