Let me start off by saying that in all the reviews I have posted I have never given a bad review, but I also must insert that this has everything to do with customer service and not the food ,the taste, the cleanliness, but they all go hand and hand!! The food is amazing, I can't say anything more about it, no matter what you get ,you'll get rich flavor, the heritage, the waitstaff themselves are great, friendly, attentive, the restaurant itself is very clean, but you will pay top dollar for all this ! Now I get to my 1 star review, like i stated earlier its about the management and their lack of customer service So since we were in this pandemic we would order take out instead of risking indoor seating, in the 5 times we ordered they forgot to add our tortillas to our order, and it wasn't just 1 platr to go, always 3 to 4 plates per to go order, this happened 3 times out of 5, each time would call to let them know, and all they would say is sorry , we can go back up there to get them but because it was tortillas it wasn't a big deal for the 1st, 2nd time but the 3rd time was the breaking point but only got the same response of Sorry, but because i love the food i continued to order but started to check my food to make sure everything was there! Now I spoke with the manager directly, person to person,, now as this person is very friendly and did not speak down to me this person does act as if they owe nobody anything for a screw up on their behalf. They look at you as if they don't understand what your talking about and not saying a single word, even tho they speak perfect English, like a deer in headlights, What i did get is every reason in the book as to how forgetful they are or how busy they are on take out orders, Now you may be asking what would I have them do ,they offered to make it right by having me go back up there, thats the problem not only am I paying top dollar for a service, which includes all the essentials that go into running a successful business, not just 1 or 2, but all of them! I would have to drive back which depending on where I live and the time it was would make it a easy 20-30 min drive just for tortillas!!
Once again this review is only about the lack of customer service from the management and not the waitstaff on to go orders only!! Every time we did indoor dining, we didn't have any problems!! Other than this i would have given then 5 🌟 What I did learn from this is to check my order before I leave and ask them to repeat my order to me. This review is not intended to bash this establishment, but hopefully the opposite, that they take a step back and can learn from and correct this apparent glitch that they continually have!! Be safe, have fun,...
Read moreMe & my friend ate here on Friday in February 2022, at about 3:00 PM. There were 6 or 7 other tables with dinners eating. We were seated immediately with menus and napkin wrapped flatware. A nice server lady came and took our drink order and returned a minute or two later with our teas. A minute later, she brought us a bowl of chips, a full, large squeeze bottle of salsa hot sauce, and two small cups. She came back a few minutes later and took our meal orders. I have noticed from eating here several times before, that the cooks don't heavily season the food, which allows people with heart and other medical conditions to eat here safely. El Tejavan does provide, at the table, shakers of salt, black pepper, and hot pepper powder so that dinners can season to taste. We always put more salt on the chips, which were fresh & tasty, but a little thicker than we prefer. We both got the Chiles Rellenos, with Spanish rice, beans & a server of hot flour tortillas as sides. You don't get a choice of stuffing here; they only serve the chile rellenos stuffed with mozzarella cheese. Our meals came out in 10 or 15 minutes hot and smelling good. The chille rellenos were cooked to perfection and could be cut easily with your fork. My friend likes his hot sauce hot, so he ordered a bowl of that. The squeeze bottle hot sauce they brought with chips was at best medium hot, but the bottle came in handy putting the sauce on my meal. The tea was good. The eating area looked clean and organized, and our nice server lady was attentive. Good food, good...
Read moreUpon walking in the hostess just stared at us for a couple minutes before rudely asking how many. Should have been our cue to just turn around and leave. She then grabbed menus and silverware and walked off without another word, put the menus and silverware down on the table and walked off. We then proceeded to sit and wait for roughly 10 minutes before a waitress finally came over and took our drink orders and left some chips and salsa. If they’d have been busy I would have understood, but I watched this particular waitress and 3 others stand behind the bar talking the whole time we were waiting. Chips were cold and stale, and salsa leaves much to be desired, no flavor or kick. Upon asking for something spicier I was informed this was the only salsa they had for chips. No biggie, after reading the reviews online I was here for the tacos. Unfortunately these too left much to be desired. Cold tortillas, flavorless Asada, add in the fact that the red salsa they brought out was barely enough for one taco and I was left very unimpressed. I’m not sure if the reviews from others are due to people with lack of variety (I’m from AZ and taco trucks are a dime a dozen) or if we just had a poor experience. My brother did have some pretty good enchiladas, only reason they get two stars. My mother ordered the burrito plate and her burritos were barely lukewarm inside. Never offered a refill on our beers, and pretty much ignored us the whole time. $50 plus tip, I expect better...
