This was my first time eating at any Jims and Let me preface this complaint with this, the food here was delicious and enjoyable. I was treated like no one wanted me there from the second I walked in the door. The gentlemen who greeted me to and showed me to the table was rude. When asked how many I responded "6 I think....yes it's 6." He stopped walking and at me and said "well is it six or more" I responded "6, im sorry there are usually 8 of us but today there's only 6 which is why my count was off." He then stopped again and said "well is it 6 or 8." I repeated 6 again to which he sighed rolled his eyes and said "your sitting here. He didn't give me a choice before he walked away. I would have requested a different table since the table next to us was pinning one of our chairs to our table, which forced us to rearrange the seating. The waitress took our orders and walked away without saying a word. Our food took a half hour to cook which I think is excessive but it was busy and I understood. One of our party asked the waitress if he could add a side a fried and she said "no, it's to late to add." Then walked away, who refuses more money? Your waitress did. When our food showed up I had to ask to get my water refilled, said nice it was empty and she hadn't seen it. When she refilled it she spilled the water when filling each of our cups and didn't apologize or offer to clean it up. Then at the end of the meal we asked for a menu so that we could select some dessert, to which she replied "I'm sorry Hun I don't have any dessert menus" we asked if the normal menu did and she informed us that it didn't. We asked her what pies they had and she listed 3, we then played a game of 20 questions to find out all the pies that were available. Finally when trying to leave and pay we had to take the bill to the register and have it split, not unusual. But when the cashier started asking who had what I pulled out my phone to check a text. I know i probably should have waited but I didn't think it was a big deal. After spending a second reading I I realized she was asking who had ordered my meal. I spoke up and said "I'm sorry that was mine" she shot back "Hello?!?? I've repeated this several times!!" I apologized and she just looked back to the computer and said "whatever" I cannot believe how rude everyone was at you American fork location. We weren't rude or loud or obnoxious and yet we were met with hostility at every turn here. Not only will I never eat at your establishment again I will never recommend you to anyone. I was very disappointed at how terribly I was treated because the food was so good but I cannot eat at a place when everyone makes it their personal goal to make me and my party feel like we...
Read moreTonight I decided to just try a restaurant without any research. What restaurant is it? It just says Jim's out front. Jim's what? Well, it's called Jim's Family Restaurant. I've driven past this restaurant so many times on State St. always wondering what kind of food they served inside. A lot of you have probably felt the same way. Do I try something out of my comfort zone or do I go down the street to a restaurant I always frequent and will be guaranteed with a satisfying meal?
Well, took a step inside and it felt cozy. Their set up reminded me a lot about the Black Bear Diner. The staff was very friendly. Looking through the whole menu, I honestly didn't venture far into trying something new, but decided to go with something I'm particular about. I love a good country fried steak, so I ordered the Cowboy Jim's Breakfast. It was a plate of thinly sliced scalloped potatoes with a slice of cheddar and a slice of american white cheese on top of it. That is topped with a country fried steak that is all smothered with white gravy. Then adding 3 scrambled eggs and 2 sausage links. The country fried steak was really good but a lot smaller than I thought. The gravy, eggs, and sausage were great. The top layer of potatoes were cooked nice and tender, but the bottom half of the potatoes were a little bit crunchy and raw at some parts and completely bland, so that's probably why the waitress brought over the salt and pepper and ketchup. Sorry, ketchup does not belong on eggs or homestyled potatoes.
Next I decided to swap out pancakes for french toast. I think it was margarine because it didn't melt very well and the syrup rolled right off of it. I can deal with that. They had your normal syrup, strawberry syrup, and boysenberry syrup. Boysenberry was my favorite. The strawberry syrup tasted too much like syrup you put over shaved ice 🍧 and not something over french toast. The french toast was great. Nice thickness to the toast. I really enjoyed it.
I would definitely be interested in trying a few other items on their menu. The prime rib is something I'm very picky about so that could be next.

Read moreI went in today with my two small children and my SERVICE animal. We were seated & my dog was sitting under the table. Two waitresses came up to me and asked me to see proof that she was a service dog. I told her that I legally do NOT need to show proof of my dog being a service animal. She gave me a dirty look and walked back into the kitchen and another waitress walked out. She told me I need to leave if I am unable to show proof of my animal being registered as a service animal. I said I want to speak to a manager. After this waitress giving me disgusting looks and saying very rude things to me, the manager finally came to the front where you pay. I told him what happened and that I wanted to speak to the owner or to have his phone number. He told me he is not allowed to give me that information. The waitresses were still being very rude and giving me looks that could kill. As I’m trying to deal with two small children as well as my pet, and all the while I am pregnant and becoming very upset and stressed out, they will not leave me alone & stop staring me down. The manager finally came out and told me he spoke to the OWNER and the owner confirmed with him that I am not required to show proof of my animal being a service dog. He did not tell his waitresses to apologize to me or anything he just asked if i wanted to stay to eat there and i said no. And I will never eat at this restaurant ever again for their lack of KNOWLEDGE and SERVICE to their customers. I’m very disgusted. The waitresses names I believe were raven and Donna. Both with blond hair. It’s so sad that my rights as a disabled person were violated and my kids that to see that and go through that. I do not recommend this place to anyone unless you enjoy being mistreated!! This place doesn’t even deserve...
