When I'm craving for some meat and have a big appetite, the first cuisine I think of is Hawaiian BBQ. This place has been on my radar for quite awhile, but I haven't had the craving for it until recently. What drew me to this place was their beef ribs. The only other time I've had beef ribs was at a famous BBQ chain in San Diego, so I was ecstatic to learn that I don't have to drive all the way down there for some tasty beef ribs. The prices are super reasonable if you consider all the prices going up due to inflation and their portions are generous.
|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are Lincoln Ave. and Delano St. -Located within the Grand Center strip mall -Private parking lot with plenty of parking spots
|| F O O D || Beef Rib Plate "Sam's Plate" ($16.75) - We opted for the combo with the rice & macaroni salad. While I think I've had better macaroni salads at other places, the meat did not disappoint. I do want to put it out there that there's a decent amount of meat on the bones but the amount of meat cannot be compared to the bbq spot in San Diego. You do have to consider that Matiki's is super reasonably priced so to me, I got what I paid for and I was pretty happy about it! If you have folks that don't have really good teeth, I would not recommend the beef ribs and would opt for the galbi and the chicken.
Big Kahuna Plate ($35.00) - Such generous portions of galbi, teriyaki beef and chicken! My favorite was definitely galbi. The chicken was pretty good too but some of the pieces were a bit dry even though they used dark meat. I thought the beef teriyaki was A-OK. This is definitely one of your best options if you want to try a little bit of everything so you can decide what your favorite is when you order...
Read moreI don't know how this is rated above 4 stars. I see a lot of rave reviews are from customers who had the ribs. Maybe the ribs are good. Go figure. I ate here once some time last month. I got the barbecue chicken plate. Now chicken is pretty simple right? Some say you can't go wrong with chicken. Well their chicken was horrible. It tasted like it was grilled the day before and was reheated for me to have that day. The chicken was hard and the sauce it was marinated or cooked in was very bland. The chiken was also burnt. The mac salad was horrible as well. Seemed like it was in the fridge for a couple of days and it just wasn't good how it was made. All in all, it appears that this establishment just scrounges something together as fast as they can without a care for quality and maybe as cheap as they can. It was just horrible. The rice was even so-so, something was little off with it as well. And then they price it that much? I can grill better barbecue chicken than that with my eyes closed. That is the level of carelessness these must have to make food horrible like that. The food SUCKED! It just straight SUCKED! Maybe the ribs really are good but I'll never know because I'll never eat there again. They can't get chicken right so I won't bother eating anything else. If you want good hawaiian barbecue, go to Aloha Hawaiian BBQ in Tustin or Santa Ana. Not only is it a 100 times better than Matiki but its also cheaper and yet have way bigger portions! Don't ask me how that is. It would seem to be that Matiki is trying to rob us of our money by providing horrible and very disproprtionate portions compared to the price. Do yourself a favor. Go to Aloha Hawaiian...
Read moreWe took a trip to Disney and wanted to check this spot out. My actual rating for is 3.8 out of 5. We arrived and the atmosphere is simple & clean , of course there was island decor on the walls. Aunty who was our cashier she was nice-ish lol. IYKYK! I liked the plate I ordered just wished the short ribs and the Teri beef had a different marinade, don’t get me wrong it was still good ,but given two different meats (& this is just my opinion) I would have preferred a different flavor for each meat. However I know ppl love that marinade so I get it. I was not a fan of the Mac salad ( I just prefer regular Mac salad ( they had it with potatoes & it was ok.) My husband got the beef rib plate and man those buggahs are nice and big and loved how they tasted. We are from San Diego so if I ever go back I would definitely buy that plate again 🤤. Musubi was cool, also just fyi if ppl are going to this location for the musubi on their IG pg , served w/ Mac salad in it.) they don’t sell that one there only regular. Order the panipopo I liked it , the sua (the coconut sauce.) was delicious, My husband on the other hand he wasn’t feeling the Bread/bun it comes with. Last but not least we got a dole whip float ( that was nice, I don’t like artificial coconut flakes so that was my fault I didn’t know it comes topped with that cause you can ask them to not put that on there.) Free Parking is shared in the plaza with...
