Buddy's Crabs & Ribs — Restaurant in Annapolis

IF I COULD RATE 0 STARS I WOULD ! MY PEOPLE OF COLOR AVOID AT ALL COST TO AVOID CATCHING A CASE ! THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING FROM THE FLIES LANDING ON EVERYTHING , SITTING ON EVERYTHING INSIDE THE BUILDING TO THE STAFF WITH NO KNOWLEDGE, AND THE INCOMPETENT RUDE CONDESCENDING MANAGER !

I CANT EVEN EXPLAIN WHY ON TUESDAY JUNE 25TH 2024 I DECIDED TO VISIT THIS PLACE AND TRY SOMETHING NEW ONLY TO BE GREETED WITH A TRULY TERRIBLE UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE.

I CALLED AHEAD AND ASKED SOMEONE WHO CLEARLY KNEW NOTHING …WHAT CRABS WERE OFFERED SHE LISTED STARTING FROM LARGE WHAT THE PRICES WERE AND HOW MUCH.. I ARRIVE & AM SEATED BY A WAITER WHO FIRST SAYS THERE ARE NO LARGE THEY HAVE SMALL OR SUPER JUMBO… I WAS SET BACK BY THAT AS I WAS TOLD THEY SOLD LARGE…. NO ISSUE I ORDER THE SUPER JUMBO AND AM TOLD THEY ARE $140 SO I ASSUME I AM IN FOR A TREAT DESPITE THE EARLY MISCOMMUNICATION…..

BOYYYYYYYY WAS I TERRIBLY WRONG !!! THE CRABS COME OUT AND ARE EXTREMELY SMALL TO BE “SUPER JUMBO” THEY LOOKED MORE LIKE LARGE … IF YOU ARE USING THE NAME SUPER JUMBO I AM EXPECTING A HUGE CRAB…. I ASKED FOR THE MANAGER AS THE WAITRESS HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANYTHING AND ONCE I STARTED TO QUESTION THINGS SHE BECAME DISTANT AND DID NOT WANT TO HELP WHICH WAS DISGUSTING IN MY OPINION…..

A TRIFLING MANAGER APPROACHES OUR TABLE WITH THE OUTRIGHT MOST NASTIEST ATTITUDE!!! HE BASICALLY SAID THIS IS WHAT IT IS AT BUDDYS AND TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!!!

HE LEFT THE WORST TASTE IN MY MOUTH ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE I TASTED HERE THIS DAY !!

AFTER HIS RUDEEEEE ENCOUNTER I DECIDED TO STILL TRY ONE AND SEE IF MAYBE I WOULD PAY THE PRICE FOR THE SMALL CRABS ONLY TO BE MET WITH SEVERELY OVERRRRRR COOKED MUSHY DISGUSTING BOTTOM OF THE BARREL CRABS !!! I INSTANTLY IT SPIT OUT AND ASKED TO RETURN THEM AND COLLECT THE BILL !!!

ONCE THE WAITRESS NOTICED WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN SHE PICKED UP THE ENTIRE TRAY FROM IN FRONT OF US AND TOOK THEM TO THE BACK… IM SURE TO COUNT THEM AND LOOK AT THEM OR TASTE THEM !

WE GET THE CHECK AND THE RUDE NASTY MANAGER COMES BACK TO SETTLE IT OUT AND IS MET WITH A MEMBER OF MY PARTY TELLING HIM HOW RUDE AND NASTY HE WAS , WHEN ALL WE WERE COMING TO DO WAS SPEND ALOT OF MONEY ON YOUR NASTY CRABS ! WHICH THANK THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WE DIDNT !!!

HE TOOK THE CRABS OFF OUR BILL AND SETTLED IT OUT, I ASKED FOR A BOX TO TAKE CORN ON THE COB HOME AND THE WAITRESS DECIDED SHE JUST WASNT SERVING US ANYMORE SO WE SAT AND WAITED AND NEITHER THE MANAGER NOT WAITRESS WOULD COME BACK TO THE TABLE TO GIVE IT TO ME SO I ASKED ANOTHER GENTLEMEN WHO TOOK A WHILE AND THEN BRUNG IT !

I COULD NOT WAIT TO LEAVE ! WE WERE SAT DIRECTLY UNDER A DUSTY AIR CONDITIONING UNIT THAT WAS FLICKING OFF DUST FROM A DUSTY FAN EVERYWHERE! THE PLACE IS FULL OF ALL TYPES OF FLYING CREATURES LANDING ON YOUR FOOD AND DRINKS IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR BUSINESS !

I WILL NEVER COME BACK NOR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE EVER !

WORST...

This was our first time at this particular location in Annapolis and I was extremely disappointed with the behavior and disrespectful attitude of the waiter who was undeniably arrogant, blatantly disrespectful, insensitive, rude, with only a slight hint of some resemblance of professionalism!

We were greeted, then the waiter began to take our order, as he sat on the table adjacent to us 😳 he then moved from the table and propped his behind on the back of a chair, all while taking our order!

I starred in disbelief as to what was actually happening & knew that things were not going to get any better and they didn't!

We placed our orders! My order was a Angus beef burger with crabmeat on top! When I got my burger, I removed the bun, the lettuce and tomato that were on the sandwich. I picked up my knife and fork and cut a small piece of the burger, put it in my mouth and crunched down on what appeared to be, small crab shells! I immediately took the shells out of my mouth and placed them on the side of my plate and waited for the waiter to return. When he returned, I told him what happened and showed him the shells! ! He unashamedly boldly said “there’s always some crab shells in the meat.” I got up from the table, went back to the kitchen and asked for the manager! I cannot remember the managers name but he was extremely nice and very accommodating! He had the chef prepare a fresh burger for me! The manager also assured me that he was going to talk to the young man about the service or the lack thereof, along with his mannerisms, basically how he handled himself and me as a customer!

There is more to tell but I will leave it with this one last thing: if I ever go back to that restaurant and that young man is still there, my hope is that he either went through some necessary retraining of how to provide excellent customer service or that his responsibilities were changed to washing dishes in the kitchen, so that he would not have any contact with...

This place was recommended to me by a coworker who stated that her family had been going to this restaurant for years and they loved it…I’m sure that they’ve had some good experiences but mine was terrible. I should’ve known something was wrong when I saw that the restaurant was nearly empty, but I thought hey, it’s cold outside and maybe people wanted to stay in. After trying their food, I can see why. As an appetizer, I ordered oysters, which tastes delicious and fresh.

We then ordered the dinner for 2 (which I think was around $125, it included crab, 2 sides, 2 salads, 2 soups, corn, and crab cakes).

Let me start of by saying DO NOT order the crab cakes. It tasted disgusting and old. I have never tasted a more disgusting menu item as this in my life.

The potatoes as a side were brought cold.

The Caesar salads were mediocre, dry. I could’ve made a better one at home using allrecipes.

The corn was…well corn. You had to take the husks off yourself, as the chef is too lazy to do it themselves.

The pound of shrimp that came with also still had the veins and shell on, which should be taken off BEFORE giving it to the customer, that was just insulting, I mean really. You’re making the customer do the work for that price?

The crab cluster was okay.

The “butter” that was served with the crab was disgusting. It had a distinct artificial taste so I’m assuming it was margarine or maybe some off brand, whatever it was it was gross.

The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because I really enjoyed the oysters. Maybe this place has better menu items and I just didn’t pick the right one, but if you’re charging that much, your food better be good. Overall, I wish they would put more care and quality into what they serve. I will not be returning, and I urge others to steer clear of...
