We expected a charming historic, musky, small room in a great location. Maryland Inn delivered on those points but added a few features, not in a positive way.
Upon checking in, we waited 30 minutes for the valet. When we stepped into the room (1301), we thought our eyes were playing tricks on us. The middle on the room was concave by about 3 inches; this was quite strange. We put a full water bottle on one side of the room, and watched it roll to the center. Looking up wasn't much better, with severe stress cracks in the ceiling (above the bed). So noticeable, it had us worried about the structural integrity of our room and the room above us. My husband went to take off his shoes, looked down at the floor, to find a long needle (like a garmet or sewing needle) about 2-3 inches long along with a paper clip. Wouldn't have bothered me except the room itself had clearly not been cleaned well. Dust caked on the TV unit and bathroom shelves. The bathroom had the remnants of a towel bar, the ends were still mounted to the wall but no bar present as if it had been ripped or fell off at some point. We checked in late so we stayed the night. Next day, we called the front desk for our car and explained the room was unacceptable and that we would need to check out. Front desk gentleman said we would be refunded and that he was unaware of the state of the room. We left, and were still charged for both nights. I waited a few days to see if they would credit us the one night. After not seeing the credit, I reached out to their reservations team for support. I have now tried on 3 occasions to contact then with absolutely no response. Now I am disputing the claim on my card.
It's extremely unfortunate how their staff has chosen to handle this event. One small unlikable experience, easily corrected with an apology and a credit. Instead, a customer is being ignored and...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a place with genuine historic charm in the heart of Annapolis, this hotel delivers. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear you’re stepping into a property with character—original architectural details, creaky wooden floors, and period-style furnishings that really bring out the colonial-era vibe. It’s a perfect spot if you’re a history lover or just want to soak in the atmosphere of downtown Annapolis.
That said, there are a few trade-offs that come with staying in a property like this. Parking was one of the more frustrating aspects— valet will drive you in your car to one of the 3 buildings you could be assigned. You need to walk back to the main building to check out. Or drive back however there is narrow roads and very little parking. One suggestion would be to have staff operating golf carts to assist in this process.
Another downside was the layout of the property: there are 3 separate buildings located in different areas of the town, so be prepared to do some walking outside to get to your room, which isn’t ideal in bad weather or if you have mobility issues.
The rooms themselves had a certain old-world charm, but some felt a bit musty and could benefit from better ventilation or minor updates to make them feel fresher. Still, the overall stay was comfortable, and the location can’t be beat—just steps from shops, restaurants, and the waterfront.
In short: if you’re prioritizing atmosphere, history, and a central location, this hotel is a great pick. Just be ready for a few quirks that come with staying in a...
Read morePositive: The Inn is located in the center of Annapolis which is ideal, it is very easy to navigate around the area, we enjoyed a day trip to DC also. I appreciated that I didn't feel pressured to use the valet service however it was a pain having to consider parking. We were able to park for free at Calvert St garage during weekend days/nights which was great. (We used South St lot for the rest of our stay at $15/24h) — Negative: Unfortunately, we paid over $300/night for a queen bedroom including additional fees, this was way overpriced in our opinion. The room was small, noisy and lacked attention to detail. It felt unnecessary to have so much large furniture in such a small space - making it difficult for two people to move around. The room had a coffee machine, coffee, teabags but no sugar, no cream, no bottled water etc. We bought milk on the first day but after using the teabags, no more cups/teabags were left out in the following days which was frustrating. — As others have stated the main lobby is in a separate building so you feel a bit abandoned/left to your own devices here. Overall, the inn felt unwelcoming and lacked atmosphere. A lot of what you see online is of the main building/lobby which is misleading. — To round it off a large cockroach ran across the room on our last night, this made me really uneasy and had me waking up several times throughout the night....
