We found after staying at other downtown Annapolis hotels that the location of the Capitol Hotel is perfect for walking to the Main Street shops and restaurants, the harbor and Naval Academy. It has a good lobby bar, including an outside patio with perfect views of the Capitol building and good food. The staff are friendly and helpful. The guest rooms (we’ve stayed in three different ones) are tastefully decorated and comfortable. ||Note: there is no elevator, so there are one to two flights to walk up depending on what floor your room is on. There are no room keys or access cards; your room is pre-coded for you and given to you before arrival.||There is no hotel parking, but you can drive to three parking garages the hotel recommends that are within walking distance. The hotel does a great job in communicating in advance helpful check-in information, including the name and addresses for nearby parking lots or on-the-street...
Read moreThe hotel was a real disappointment. First the pro's: the location was extremely convenient; the rooms were large and spacious. The con's: the door code for entry at night sent to us did not work; the laundry and linen rooms (left open at night) had trash on the floors as did the hallways; the room furniture was sparse and badly painted unfinished wood; the bathroom heater was rusted and dusty and may have represented a fire hazard; towel hardware fell off the wall; the faucets in the sink and shower were not properly installed and leaked; the sliding shower door groaned loudly when moved; no help was available at our 10 AM checkout so we carried our bags downstairs; the general atmosphere was not welcoming. Though the Google listing says free breakfast, nothing was offered to us and indeed the restaurant was closed at our departure.
In no way did this meet our expectations for a...
Read moreHad an amazing time during our visit! The hotel is located about as "downtown" as you could possibly be in Annapolis. Very easy parking though in the garage across the street. Our room had an incredible view of main street. Step outside the front door and you're looking right at the capital building, literally a stones throw away! The hotel has a bed and breakfast type of feel---quaint and very relaxed. Chef Anthony is hands down one of the best chefs in Annapolis, we had several excellent meals and basically came to the conclusion that there wasn't much of a need to try anywhere else! We did try some other spots to eat (Masons a few doors down for an excellent lobster roll) but found the food at the Parley Room downstairs to be the best we had on our trip. Very tasty cocktails as well. Spacious and cozy rooms and GIANT showers. Highly recommend this...
