In the heart of downtown Appleton, Wisconsin, Appleton Beer Factory stands as a beacon for both craft beer enthusiasts and food lovers alike. While the brewery is celebrated for its artisanal beers, it’s the culinary offerings that truly elevate this establishment to a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. On a recent visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in several standout dishes that showcase the kitchen's creativity and commitment to quality: the Nashville Hot Chicken Wrap, Avocado Tacos, and, of course, the legendary Cheese Curds.
The Nashville Hot Chicken Wrap: A Spicy Symphony of Flavors
The Nashville Hot Chicken Wrap at Appleton Beer Factory is a dish that commands attention. Perfectly fried chicken, with a crisp, golden exterior, is slathered in a fiery Nashville hot sauce that tingles the palate with just the right amount of heat. This is no ordinary wrap; the chicken is nestled in a soft tortilla, accompanied by a cooling slaw that provides a delightful contrast to the spice. The balance of textures—the crunch of the chicken, the creaminess of the slaw, and the softness of the wrap—creates a harmonious bite every time. The addition of pickles adds a tangy punch that cuts through the richness of the chicken, making each bite as satisfying as the last.
Avocado Tacos: A Fresh and Vibrant Delight
For those seeking a lighter, yet equally flavorful option, the Avocado Tacos are a revelation. These tacos are a celebration of freshness, with perfectly ripe avocado slices taking center stage. The avocado is complemented by a medley of crisp vegetables, all lightly seasoned to allow the natural flavors to shine through. The soft taco shells are the ideal vessel, holding the ingredients together without overwhelming them. What sets these tacos apart is the thoughtful combination of textures and flavors—the creaminess of the avocado, the crunch of the veggies, and the subtle heat from a sprinkle of chili all work together to create a dish that is both refreshing and satisfying.
Cheese Curds: A Wisconsin Classic Done Right
No visit to a Wisconsin eatery would be complete without sampling the Cheese Curds, and Appleton Beer Factory’s rendition does not disappoint. These curds are everything a cheese lover could hope for: perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, with a gooey, molten center that stretches with each bite. The curds are lightly seasoned, allowing the rich, creamy flavor of the cheese to take center stage. They are served with a side of tangy dipping sauce that adds an extra layer of flavor, though the curds are so delectable on their own that they hardly need it. It’s clear that the kitchen takes pride in this quintessential Wisconsin dish, making it a must-order for anyone visiting the restaurant.
Conclusion
Appleton Beer Factory is more than just a brewery; it’s a culinary destination that offers a diverse and thoughtfully curated menu. The Nashville Hot Chicken Wrap, Avocado Tacos, and Cheese Curds are standout examples of the kitchen’s commitment to quality and creativity. Read moreOne year ago we had our rehearsal dinner at ABF The beer was great, and the food was amazing! We were so jazzed to finally get back there yesterday. We were so tickled that we were able to reserve a table ahead of time! We got there at half time during the badger game, and there were only a couple other people in there.... Because they didn't have the channel to watch the Badger game! Since we had kids, we requested to be in the back near the kitchen on a low top table. We got sweet potato fries, which were delicious. We later got pub fries, which are just french fries.. That were nothing special. For dinner we all split a flat bread. For our rehearsal dinner this is solely what we served. When the pizza came out, it was basically a deep dish burnt pizza. The overall flavors had the right idea, but it was burnt! The crust was hard as a rock, and it was NOT a flat bread pizza. We were so sad to see that the quality has gone downhill. We had a chance to catch up with the manager before we ordered, and she barely took the time to address us. We tried to jog her memory as to who we were, and she made a comment that didn't relate to our conversation, and walked away. Very very disappointing!! We hope this isn't what the restaurant...
Read moreOn our way to Appleton Beer Factory my friend checked the menu because we were hungry. We saw the flatbreads and immediately knew that's what we wanted. On arrival I noticed the front dining area was about half full which was pretty good for a Sunday night. Our server was very nice girl and pleasant to talk with. The beer was average. I got the amber. The food was good but I didn't get to order what I wanted. I did order the pickled egg which was delicious but they were out of flatbred and the Mac and cheese. The two main things that we came there for were unavailable. I know it was just after the weekend but I have been in the industry for a long time and you can run out of steak or lettuce or anything that might go bad if you order long on it but flatbreads or pasta or cheese?!? Or was the kitchen just too lazy to make a new batch of cooked pasta or the cheese sauce or flatbreads? I'm sorry but just getting sick of the whole "no big deal" attitude. When I go out to eat I should be able to eat whatever is on the menu any day that the restaurant is open for business and if they are out of something it better be something that is very perishable...but our server...
