Good Company — Restaurant in Appleton

I went to Appleton to visit my sisters on Tuesday, September 16. We decided to go down to College Avenue to have drinks and an early dinner. We decided to go to this place as they have been there before, and we walked in around 2:50 in the afternoon. There was absolutely nobody in the bar area at all when we came in. We saw that happy hour started at three, so we sat at a table in the bar. A gentleman walked over and ( with a less than thrilled voice) told us his name and that he would be our server. We proceeded to ask some questions about happy hour, and he was very standoffish and was not welcoming at all. :( Again, there was nobody in the bar. We felt like we were intruding and that he did not want to be there at all. He was not pleasant. He offered no friendliness at all and did not tell us about any happy hour specials. Even after we asked about them. We ordered a drink and thought we would see how things go from there. Well, it did not get any better. We decided not to stay to eat, and to go down the road to eat. It was very disappointing as the menu looked good. But we did not want to give our business to the place that acted like they did not want our business. I did not catch his name, but he was tall, balding, thin and in his early 30s? We ended up going down to D2, and had an absolute wonderful dinner and server!!

Just thought you should know about your establishment especially since these times are hard. We would’ve been happy to tip above and beyond had we gotten any...

Waitress didn't know the menu and argued with us about it. I had New York strip that comes with a generous salad and rolls...per the menu. I also ordered a cup of the french onion soup which she insisted was my selected side and wouldn't let me have the items that came with my meal as advertised even after reading the menu item description herself. My wife ordered the french dip sandwich which comes with fries, and she ordered a crock of french onion soup and was told she would be charged for fries since she also ordered soup. She kept telling us "it's alright that's how your meal comes when you order soup in addition to your entree". Um....no, that's not how it works and this wasn't the first visit here nor the first time I've ordered this dish. Also ordered my $30 steak as medium well because usually they heavily undercook their steaks. This was no exception. A medium well steak came to me 80% medium rare. The outer inch of the steak was perfect. The inside was still mooing. Christmas music playing waaaay to loud and couldn't carry on a conversation without the whole dining area overhearing. Paid the bill as it was, no tip because server never came back to check on us. Drinks sat empty for half the meal and desert wasn't offered. She also got the order incorrect for the couple at the next table. Additionally , our server was showing way too much cleavage and showed zero class. Won't be back which is sad because we use to like...

The only thing good about my experience tonight was the company I was with to lighten an extremely poor experience. I haven't been to the good company in years and I won't be returning. We had reservations, so at least we were seated right away but our waitress still took over 15 minutes to take our order. She was rude and very much in a hurry. We stated then how we wanted our checks to be divided as well. When she brought our salads she pretty much threw them on the table, leaving lettuce leaves on the floor and tray. When we got our bread an hour after being seated, the waitress said "here's more bread.", throwing down 3 rolls on a plate. We never got our bread before and we didn't get plates! No refills either yet. Now the table next to us complains to the same waitress about their lack service. After another 20 minutes passes, she brings 4 more rolls(no plates) and apologizes for the delay. After we asked questions she had no explanation for the delay and states the owner is even in the kitchen and our food will be up shortly. After waiting a total of 90 minutes our food is finally up. Once it comes time to pay the bills, they were all mixed up. We had to have the waitress fix them 3 times! Finally I demanded the manager. The manager only offered apologies with gift cards or free dessert. I'm thoroughly disgusted by the lack of organization and service...
