Driving thru Arlington the day before, we noticed Olympic Steakhouse was new to the area. So we decided to try it Sunday afternoon. We arrived around 4pm. The parking lot was pretty light so we hoped that it wasn't busy. And it wasn't. We were greeted immediately upon entry. We had 6 and a highchair. So a table was cleaned off for us. And we were sat right away. The other table next to us however was not. This is an important note for later. We were greeted about 10 minutes after we sat down. We placed our drink order and received them pretty quickly. We then placed our food order. All seemed well until we ran out of bread and the baby started to fuss because she was getting hungry. We finally got our meals and everything was hot and some were burnt. I had the grilled Tilapia with shrimp. Today was the day that I found out that you can burn shrimp to a crunch. So was my Tilapia. My son ordered Philly cheese steak. It was burnt to crisp. I ate mine but my son couldn't stomach his. Everyone was already done eating before our server came back. But this was after I had to stop the hostess to go and find her. She ended up swapping out his sandwich for a burger, which he said was pretty good. The baby had Mac and cheese but it was rotini noodles with white sauce. This is important if you have a picky baby that is a Mac and cheese expert. Needless to say she did not eat one bite. Also when our food arrived we went into full war mode with the flies. Probably because of the dirty table that I mentioned earlier. It was still there while we ate our meal. And trying to eat and enjoy a charred meal while being attacked by a gang of flies while sitting next to a trash pit with a baby who hates flies and screams every time one lands on her is NOT FUN!! And not for the weak!! Let's talk briefly about the salad bar before we close this adventure.... it leaves much to the imagination! Very skimpy, not many options. And very watery ranch. I did get excited for the banana pudding, tho! So while we patiently waiting for our server to return so we could pay. I went back to bar to try a little and maybe share with the baby. As soon as I stuck that spoon in it, I was hit with immediate regret. BROWN BANANA PUDDING?? WITH WHOLE COOKIES STILL ON TOP? Which makes me think that no one had any yet! Oh and 1 more thing before we packed it up and went to the car. I went to change the baby before we left, I guess someone decided that it would much more fun to try to pee down the floor drain in the handicap stall. Let's just say... they missed! I think this is my last time visiting this spot!! I have never tried Olympic Steakhouse before today and have heard nothing but good things from everyone including my husband. But I say to...
Read moreWish I had a chance to eat the food. My family went there after my grandfather's funeral. The hostess was nice and they sat us in a section with other big parties. My cousin asked our server for 3 pitchers of water for those who wanted some. Instead of the server bringing pitcherd, he just brought each individual cups of ice water. Not everyone wanted it because some are sensitive to cold water. I had to keep asking for lemon and he never brought any. My cousin also had to chase the server down to provide us some bread. He never even asked if we wanted any or told us it was available. We just happen to see the other tables being served bread. After they brought our food, 2 of our steaks were not cooked right and they did not bring out my sisters order. They brought out my uncle a new steak but it still wasn't cooked right but he ate anyway because by this point we were all hungry. Meanwhile my sister and I are still waiting. 20 minutes later (everyone is done eating at this point) they bring me out my steak but did not give me the side item I ordered and they gave me the wrong cut of steak and it was not cooked right again. At this point I just gave up and told them to take it back and take it off the bill. After all this my sister still did not get her food and she was the first one to order so she decided to have hers taken off the bill as well. The server decided to not take my food off so he had to redo the bill which kept us there even longer. They did offer a complimentary dessert and he blamed it on the kitchen being backed up but the tables around us got their food and everything was right for them. If you do go do not go with a big party. Even the manager did not come by to apologize and I left...
Read moreFriday at upm resturant dead. Diary tables everywhere a day where still dirty when I left. Cashier at front door was rude, and made me wait without acknowledgment for a minute or two. A simple "Hello welcome to the Olympus I'll be right with you", would go a long way. Asked should I seat myself. She snaped. I'll be with you shortly," Went back to doing her thing. Wait staff 3 or 4 standing around by order station, near me. No one said hello. Then a lady comes out ONLY PARTY OF ONE... Just ask him many... Yes ONLY and I tip 30-40% typically. I hate that ONLY. Would you say ONLY PARTY OF two?
I asked to be seated in a quiet spot. She puts me by kitchen and the main drag where wait staff goes by and near salad bar, very bright lights. I say no please, get seated at table, no booths I asked for, most booths and tables dirty. Who is the Manager?
I waited 5 min to be approached. The sever was a nice lady and handburger and side good. I checked out (you have to do it yourself, self serve).
The men's restroom was closed... 20 min ride home.
The dining room is not relaxing or comfortable, especially with all the dirty tables. Friends brought me here months ago. I decided to try it again. I liked the waitresses and tipped almost 40%. Worked. Y way through college as waiter. I was good at it. I don't expect perfect but basic "Hospitality".
PS the parking lot has Pot Holes like it was bombed in a war. Really bad parking and hazard to driving and walking. Lawsuit...
