It's early Tuesday morning, and I'm venturing out to try out a local donut cafe. I'm on the Westside of St. Louis, and it seems to be a great side of town. Where I found this jewel 😍

Now, when you walk in this establishment, all of your senses come alive. The smells and the colors will draw you to the showcase of goodies.

The variety of donuts from sweet to savory. Don't be afraid to ask questions. These ladies are there to serve and inform you on all of their pastries.

I had the privilege of meeting the owners wife. She is so polite and engaging. Made me feel right at home. Love her story, and I'm looking forward to traveling to Cambodia 🇰🇭.

Now I have the apple fritter and a glazed donut. What I actually look for in my pastries is the taste and ingredients. Some donuts are weighed down with oil, and you taste the grease and are heavy. Also, the fruit pastries are missing the fruit, or they are really stingy. I'm happy to say this isn't the case here. Loved my apple fritter because it was light and not burnt on the bottom and plenty of apple inside. The donut was good as well. You know there are places that can absolutely destroy a donut. I will travel for good pastries. 😋 Now, this isn't a one horse pony. They also do have ice cream. That's right here in the Midwest. The heat can be a little ewwwww. So come and cool off here.

I found out they do a lot of specialty donuts on the weekends. So if you can hold off your sweet tooth till Saturday. 🤔 Or just come out and support local businesses in this community. They have a constant flow of customers, and they can handle a few hundred more. Come help them sell out!! This is one to keep on your radar.

Also, depending on what direction ypur coming from, slow down, or you might miss...

I went during afternoon hours, for "donut ice cream sandwiches."

The ice cream was something like BlueBonnet, in large buckets...the choices were limited to 6 or 8. The only donuts available, were for the sandwiches & those were fluffy, fresh, and near perfect. Being warm would have been the only thing they could improve upon. :)

I don't expect donuts in the late afternoon, from a donut shop. However, if you're a donut shop OPENED in the evenings...yes. please have donuts! Im excited to see what flavors they offer!

My grandlittle had a generous "small size" scoop of "Superman." I had the ice cream sandwich with strawberry cheesecake which had the delicious donut with an ample amount of ice cream. I did NOT LIKE not having prices posted! It ended up being a reasonable price of about $6 but I like to know in advance!

Wishes: *Better selection of ice cream flavors. Maybe something with nuts, or coffee or caramel & a low or fat free sherbet? *More donuts in the evening hours. *Toppings. Those available were minimal & not appealing in appearance. *Move the giant self service cooler back & make a mini toppings bar with squeeze toppings and shaker add ins & some water in a nice covered pitcher with small cups for complimentary water. Have some wet wipes available. Kids get sticky! *If permitted in this little plaza, some seating outside would be incredible...just a couple of cafe sized tables with umbrellas. *Offer an old fashioned punch card...buy 10 scoops or sandwiches or dozen donuts, get 1 free?

The gal who serviced us was WONDERFUL! Friendly, kind, talkative, entertaining! Complimentary! ;) She said I was way too young looking to be grandma! ;)

I will be back checking up on changes and.improvements to...

For years we would pick up Drews Donuts every Saturday. We supported him wholeheartedly. Our friends even catered Drews donuts at their wedding! When Drews was taken over by the new owners a bit over a year ago, it unfortunately turned the Drews Donuts into a shadow of its former self. The apple fritters have went from "best in the country" to something you can pickup at the local gas station. There is no longer anything special about this place. I went as far as to call and talk to the new owner (Sonny) and suggested doing an optional more expensive version of the apple fritter that shows some RESPECT to the Drews Donuts name. There are far better options for donuts in the area Arnold/Imperial/South County area. For those that never knew Drews Donuts before the new owners took over, I wish you could have known it, it was the best! Our family won't be back. I do however wish the new...

If you're thinking of going here.. do it.. go now.. like get in your car and drive man! I LOVE this place! The donuts are delicious and even better the people that work there are amazing. They're so friendly and helpful. My boyfriend brought donuts home from another place that was closer to the house and I instantly knew he didn't go to Drew's. Drew's is honestly the only place I'll get donuts from. 🍩 OH and my favorites are the kolaches, apple fritters, old fashions, the fruit filled and the MAPLE BACON long johns. Edit: I just saw the negative reviews and those folks must've burnt their taste buds. There's no way those are accurate.
