McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Arnold Township

1st time visitor to McAlisters. I was really hoping for a quality Tuna sandwich and could not have been more disappointed. My lunch plate with a small drink was OVER $10 and barely enough Tuna to cover the bottom of the croissant bun. But the most disappointing was the wretched taste of the Tuna. I routinely eat Tuna sandwich's from Deli's, Subway, etc. and the taste of this Tuna was awful. Please don't get me wrong, it wasn't a "spoiled" taste. The dinning area of the Deli is clean, modern, roomy and well lit. All of the employee's seemed friendly and refilled my drink twice. I actually considered asking for a refund in lieu of this review due to how little amount of food and how bad it tasted but decided the review may be more helpful. So we drove 25 mins to come to this location because it had such great reviews. We got there a little more than an hour before close, you would have thought we walked in at 8:59. Every employee stared at us like we had just committed a murder, the audacity to come in during operating hours! All of the mats were up, chairs were pushed in and the manager (? The only one wearing a collared shirt) was mopping. Now I’m all for getting started on closing tasks before close, I have been there, but mopping is usually something you do when you aren’t expecting anymore customers. The vibe the employees were giving off made us so uncomfortable we opted to drive the 25 mins back home, rather than eat there like we had planned. Food smells good though, so at least we’ve got that...

usually great, except my boyfriend and ordered to go (delivered to car) for 6:15 p.m...we arrived at 6:00 and we waited until about 6:20 or so to go inside to see if the food was ready yet (ordered at 5:40). since other cars that were next to us who had arrived afterwards had all gotten their food, we figured ours would be ready. and thankfully it was, except it was cold. bread soggy and inedible, avocado was browning at the edges already. my boyfriend said the food was just sitting on the counter when he walked in. from a food safety standpoint, the meals could be queued better in correlation to pickup times so they aren’t sitting out too long, our food was sitting there for quite a bit. i’m not upset at you mcalisters... just...
