Betty's Icebox — Restaurant in Asbury Park

Definition of happiness is this place in my mind. Whenever I am down the beach area I always make sure to come here. Even when I am not coming down here, I convinced my mom to drive down. Everything is awesome and so many delicious things to chose from. Shaved ice, ice pops, hot chocolate in the winter time, popcorn, cookie sandwhiches, choc covered bananas, unique waffle cones, cookie dough, and coolest section of candy around. Not only is the stuff amazing and so worth the trip down there, the customer service is the best! I always like trying new things from there but as well getting my usual which is birthday cake cone with birthday cake gelato but I like to mix it up. After runs, I always like to get two different ice pops, they are so refreshing! Always have specials going on so following them on instagram is the best bet to see everything they got going on! I even tried choc covered cheesecake before! Vegan place. I am not someone who is vegan or dairy free, but I find everything great! Giving this 2 star because the salt water taffy is fresh but everything else was underwhelming.

The banana chewy candy and strawberry chewy candy were a little hard and flavor was just okay.

Icepop was made with fresh fruit which was exciting to see and that was tasty, and would give it a 3.8 out of 5 since it's made in house.

The Gelato was slimey, and looked as if it was frozen, defrosted, and frozen again which I'm sure is not the case but that was the appearance. Unfortunately the flavor and texture is definitely not Gelato. I'd reccomend Breyers Ice Cream from a grocery store as opposed to spending money on the Gelato here.

Shaved ice has beautiful texture. It was light, airy, and fluffy. The issue I had was that there was not enough syrup provided on the ice. I went back for more syrup and it still wasn't enough. My syrup was tasty but my friend got shaved ice as well and said her syrup tasted as if it surpassed the shelf life and was old.

The owners daughter was working the closing hours and when we got there at 8:45 she said since they close at 9 they shut the machines down a half hour before close which is 9:00 so we could only have ice or a pre made ice pop. After 2 of my children accepted this they ordered ice and as I was paying I noticed the other boy working there was about to serve another customer the shaved ice cream. When I asked the owners daughter about this she lied to me for a second time and said he wasn't. As I waited there he clearly was serving her and I got infuriated. Not only did she lie about the machine being shut down but now about him serving the girl. When I said something again about it her response was " well I know her". Seriously this is how you treat customers. When I asked to speak to her manager she said I am the manager and when I asked to speak to her boss she said that's my mom.
