First the good….Setting is beautiful right in the boardwalk and overlooking the beach. Service was okay, they talk to you to get your order but don’t expect “have a nice day” or “enjoy your food”!! Now to the bad….we eat at the food trucks all the time and have NEVER had a bad experience. We ordered 3 Connecticut rolls and an order of fried clam strips. This allegedly came right out of the kitchen but the lobster was cold and had very little butter, okay cold lobster still okay! The clams strips….GROSS!!! One bite and we spit them out into our napkins! I’ve never had clams strips taste anything like this…will never order them again from Cousins! Will never waste my money going to this location again. When they first opened the line was out the door and down the boardwalk, on this day we walked right up to the counter, should have been our first clue!!
Answer to CML reply: as I stated in my review…we eat at the food trucks all the time! We are VERY familiar with the lobster rolls and order Connecticut rolls all the time! There was NO CONFUSION at here on MY part! As for the clams strips…we did not see them on the menu a picture flashed on your board and I asked the order taker if they were “clam strips” and he replied “yes” I even asked the price because we didn’t see them on the menu board! They were...
Read moreThis was a pilgrimage, crustaceans beside the sea. It's almost a noble calling, maybe how the mighty seagull feels when it approaches a marsh rich with invertebrates. We went for the connecticut style crab rolls, which are ethereal buns full of crustacean goodness. Snow crab meat from the far north Atlantic is served warm in butter.... and I could eat twelve of them, take a break to unswallow, and then eat 12 more. They are absolutely wonderful. The lobster rolls are as always, good and tender, but never as good as that flakey buttery crab. And here comes the let down, the fried clam platter. There is nothing more beautifully down east than fried whole clams... and these clams were fresh... but the breading was so dense and so bland that you found yourself peeling the clams to idenrify edible bits of mollusk. They were just... sad... and actually took away from the whole meal. The goal of breading something isn't to lose the perfect ingredients in a heavy bland batter, but instead to accent it with a novel crunch. These guys have to try harder at the fryer. The fountain blueberry soda is even better than it is from a bottle. If 4.5 was an option, we would have done 4.5/5. They just need a new breading regimen for those poor sad...
Read moreStopped in on July 3rd with my family. We placed two orders, one order came out in 15 mins. After 40 mins of waiting for the second we went to the counter only to find out it was lost. The person we were told was the manager (a guy) saw to it that the order be replaced and given to us right away. Thankfully that did not take very long, however we were now forced to take our food to go because it took so long to get. In the car we realized they gave us a Maine roll (with mayo) instead of the Connecticut roll (with butter & lemon) we ordered. Also, our Rootbeers tasted like seltzer water. We called to advise them on what had happened, he became defensive and swore he gave us the correct food. They only offered to refund the tip and half of the roll (check should be in the mail). Overall the food was ok. We found the portions to be a bit small. The clam chowder tater tots were the highlight of our meal. **I failed to mention that our meal came to $70 and was not close to being worth the...
