I purchased a coffee then proceeded to ask a question to someone standing behind the counter for directions to an atm on a Sunday. He proceeded to tell me there’s a bank but it was a 7 mile walk away. I asked the same question but reframed in another way, hoping I’ll get an answer to an ATM machine. The same man looks me dead in the eye and repeats his answer word for word, as if I don’t hear him the first time. His buddy was standing there watching it go down, I guess the other guy was the boss. Both times the man wanted me to go on a 7 mile hike to a bank, when I just wanted to get quick cash back. One of two things: 1) both male workers standing behind the counter knew nothing about the Asheville area and the coffee shops surroundings. Or 2) They felt the correct answer to the question ā€œwhere is the nearest atmā€ was a 7 mile walk to the bank from the coffee shop. I found an atm asking the store next door, but know that your employees don’t like answering questions about anything besides coffee maybe. This was about 2 weeks ago and it left a sour taste...

I really thought I’d like this place because the reviews are so good, but sadly that was not the case. My friend’s latte was spilled over on the saucer, and expecting any kind of latte art was out of the question (see photo). It seemed so carelessly poured, but considering there was only one barista making drinks, we let that go. Strike two was when I received my Americano. I honestly have never had anyone mess that up, but it tasted like 3 burnt shots of espresso. I couldn’t drink it without asking for a cup of hot water to mix it in. Strike three was when my other friend received her iced pour over - watered down and equally disappointing. I’m not sure if it was because there was only one barista or if they went through improper training, but I’d like to revisit to see if it was just this one instance. I will say the space and ambiance was lovely, and the staff was helpful and friendly, which is why I’m giving it...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting High Five Coffee and trying their seasonal beverage, the Blackberry Smash. From the first sip, I was hooked. The drink perfectly balances the natural sweetness and tartness of fresh blackberries with a smooth coffee base, creating a refreshing and flavorful experience that is both unique and satisfying.

The presentation was just as impressive, with a vibrant, deep purple hue that made it almost too pretty to drink—almost. The combination of flavors was well thought out, with just the right amount of sweetness to complement the rich coffee notes without overpowering them.

It's clear that High Five Coffee puts a lot of thought into their seasonal offerings, and the Blackberry Smash is a testament to their creativity and quality. If you're looking for something new and refreshing, this drink is definitely...

Had my 1st experience at High Five coffee, in downtown Asheville, today. 5 stars across the board, and wished I would have gotten over here sooner. I ordered both the Cubana & the Diablo, as well as a "medicine ball" and their sweet scone. The Cubana is a 8oz Americano with 2oz half & half. Seasoned with raw sugar & sea salt. It tastes mild, smooth & sweet with an *almost honey aftertaste. The Diablo is 8oz Americano with 2oz half & half. It has raw honey, sea salt, cinnamon, & cayenne. It definitely has a cinnamon taste, with a mild kick from the cayenne. The sweet scone had hints of all spice and chocolate chips. It was a nice pallet cleanser between the 2 coffees. ā˜•ā˜• The medicine ball has a coconut oil fudge flavor in the middle, that will melt on your tongue. Go drop if next time you are downtown!!

My absolute favorite coffee place downtown Asheville. I’ve tried to hit all the coffee shops downtown, and this place tops my list ever so slightly. It might not be overly excessive in any realm of coffee or foods, but it hits all the right spots perfectly for me. Open early, offers solid morning breakfast sandwiches, and the coffee/espresso is super delicious. The staff are super friendly and nice to everyone who stops in. Right across from the parking garage to easily stop and grab coffee and go before your hour time limit is up in the garage, it’s also a super convenient location whether you’re already downtown or needing to drive through. If you’re looking for that quick morning boost, this place is great and reasonably priced.
