Stay at your own risk. I am not sure what happened to this location. We have stayed here on several occasions, but this hotel seems to be falling apart. Our most recent was for the Big South Volleyball tournament at the GWCC, March 27-30, as part of a LARGE group of several teams from our club. There are 3 elevators, 2 main and one service. One of the main elevators was completely inoperative, leaving just 2 for a 10-level hotel. This was compounded by the 2L button (main lobby) button in the service elevator not working, so we had to get off on the 3rd floor and walk down 2 flights of stairs to reach the main level. Waiting times for elevators in the morning were often 10+ minutes. After checking in and grabbing a quick shower, I discovered that housekeeping neglected to check or replace the shampoo. The front desk didn't get housekeeping to replace it; they just handed me a new bottle. Like I work there or something. So another 2 rides in the elevator back to the 7th floor with the associated long waits. The real fun was Friday evening, and Saturday and Sunday morning, where thieves literally jumped the fence and busted out several truck windows in the paid parking lot, stealing firearms and electronics. This just HAPPENED to coincide with a temporary "lapse in security coverage". This affected at least 2 people in our group, that I am aware of. The large TVs in the bar area and outside seating area were also inoperative. leading us to find other places to enjoy a drink and watch some March Madness basketball. The morning were were supposed to check-out, we went ahead and got our luggage out of the room, just in case we were not done by the noon check-out time. We came back to the hotel at around 10:30am to find that housekeeping had already entered our room and started cleaning. We did leave the DND tag on our door, but the front desk said that the DND tag was not on our door, and this was regular practice by their housekeeping staff... This will most likely be our last stay, as there are plenty of other Marriott Bonvoy hotels in the area that seem to appreciate the business of higher-tier members. I already cancelled my upcoming April reservation in favor of the Springhill Suites just a couple blocks away. This really stinks, because the proximity of this hotel to the GWCC and restaurants on Peachtree is fantastic, and outdoor area is an awesome place to hang out and unwind. There are also several Lime and Bird scooters normally parked out front, making slightly longer trips a lot of fun! I'll consider this Aloft in the future if and when they get back to the Marriott standards that...
Read moreThe property of Aloft Atlanta on 300 Ted Turner Dr NW, Atlanta, GA is absolutely the worst hotel experience I've had in my life. I stayed there this past weekend as an official overflow stay of DragonCon, and experienced:
-Service contradictory to what I was advised in writing: in writing, it stated I would recieve room service every 2 days. After four days had gone by, our dirty towels and garbage was accumulating, I went downstairs to ask about it to find out that I should have been told that service was only per-request that weekend due to the convention, and that garbage should be left outside my door. Another person was told to go take their own dirty laundry downstairs to the front desk in order to get additional clean linens. So in summary, I'm having to do my own room cleaning to catch up until proper service was attended, and that happened exactly once when I requested it.
-Room in disrepair. The telephone to the front desk was completely non-functional, electric outlets didn't work, and the inside handle of the shower door wasn't attached on the bottom half of the shower door. The thermostat was posessed by demons- it wouldn't stay at any set temperature, was often extremely cold when it said it was 74-75 or it was extremely warm in the room when it was set to 72. Seriously, this thermostat made no sense.
-Building facilities were minimally functional. The entire time, there was only one of the two main elevators working- the other was out of service- and this is the only set of elevators permitted for guests to use that goes to the parking lot. The side service elevator would work to go from the 2nd (Lobby) floor to rooms but we were specifically told we couldn't use it to go to the parking lot, it was employee area only at that level. Also, not a single ice maker on any floor OTHER than the 1st floor worked, which sucked when we had one of our party become injured and needing ice, let alone for things like cold drinks.
-Surprise "Have you checked out" inspections: The day prior to our check out, we had somebody come by the room to ask if we had checked out yet, despite our reservation being clearly to the next day.
-Lack of amenities: If you're a DragonCon official overflow hotel, I would expect you to have the amenities accordingly, you know, like the buses and in-hotel streaming of DragonCon TV channel. As far as I am aware, the buses didn't happen; and in-hotel streaming of DC*TV was not provided. So I have no idea why you were actually considered an official overflow hotel.
In summary, this was absolutely the worst hotel stay I have...
Read moreDue to my recent stay at this property, I would NOT recommend staying here. The issues with my stay began prior to arrival. I notated that the room should be prepared as feather-free prior to my arrival in the reservation. This is often an issue with hotels so I called the hotel to address it as I was leaving the airport and was told they were too busy and would have to get to it when I arrived (which was around 100 am and had been noted in the reservation as well). Upon arrival, I attempted to valet park my vehicle and was told valet was full and directed to self-park. I attempted to self-park only to find the lot completely full with the exception of spots that the hotel apparently rents to monthly renters. Returned to the valet, explained the situation and was finally able to valet the car - mind you the fees for both self-park and valet are ridiculously high. I finally got to my room and as expected, the room was NOT feather-free. The front-desk agent had to scramble to remove the feather bedding, locate replacements and provide extra feather-free pillows because the ones I received were poor quality and in need of replacement and offered no support. Eventually I was given extra decorative pillows to sleep on because the front-desk person wasn't able to find sleeping pillows that were feather-free.
It's now approx. 2 am and I attempted to settle into my room and close the shades which were broken and could not be closed to properly block the light from the outside street lights. I reported this to the front desk and was told no one was on-site to address it and it would have to wait until the next day. I asked that they have it addressed first thing. Left my room early the next morning (7 am) and returned around 4 pm to find that none of the issues had been addressed and had to call the front desk again to explain the issues and request they be resolved. At this time I also requested that a manager contact me - they never did and I still have received no follow-up from the hotel due to all of these issues. The room was also filthy - food crumbs on the desk, a mess on the floor next to/behind the toilet and the shower drain hadn't had hair removed from it in a while. Overall this stay was terrible. I'm normally a great fan/supporter of the aloft brand but this hotel was an exception to that great experience and I would advise avoiding it at all costs. There are plenty of other properties to pick from...
