The room was clean and nice, and I liked the security in place to get to the room floors. If you don't have a room key, the elevator will not allow access to the upper floors. The front desk staff (night & day shift) are hard to understand, not impossible but hard. I don't think a single one of them had English as a first language. I was under the impression that breakfast was included (served from 7-11am), so you can imagine my surprise when the rude breakfast staff showed up to my table and gave me a $74.05 bill. My party consisted of 4 people and when we got to the breakfast area at 10:25 there was no staff around and the only thing available was some powdered eggs, a few potatoes, and some yogurt with some fruit toppings. We poured some coffee and started looking for cream and saw some behind the counter, which was open, so we went behind the counter to get it along with some orange juice. That's when the breakfast staff finally decided to show up and began to tell us we're not allowed behind the counter and to get out of the way and that she would give us what we needed. We told her we'd waited for someone to show up for over 5 minutes and figured it was self-serve. She said we were wrong and rudely took the orange juice from me and began pouring for us. She did not tell us that more dishes would be refilled or anything. There were 10 people trying to share what was left, and we all sat down. Within a few minutes, 12-15 other guests showed up and found nothing left, and then suddenly, the staff came out and refilled everything. We were surprised to see them bring out French toast, bacon, more eggs and potatoes, and croissants. This food was brought out after I was given the surprise bill. I was not the only guest table that was surprised by receiving the bill either. When we finished eating, I went to the front desk to ask about it, and I was told breakfast isn't included unless you pay for the breakfast package. I explained to them that at no time was I made aware that any other packages were required. The clerk made a phone call and then gave me a revised bill giving me a 50% discount. If I knew breakfast wasn't included, I would've gone somewhere else because the food offered wasn't worth 1/2 the price they charge for it. Take away the breakfast issue, and our stay was pleasant enough. The location is close to several venues within easy walking distance. Their valet parking uses the same self-parking garage on the next block behind the hotel. The valet parking charges $55/day, and the self-parking pay by phone option charges $47/day. So you can save a little money by parking your car yourself or pay the hotel a little more and use their valet. The beautiful dual staircase in the lobby is closed to pedestrian traffic, so it's basically...
Read moreI was very pleased with Hotel Indigo at 230 Peachtree St. Let's go ahead and get the negative things out of the way: I requested adjoining rooms and a refrigerator well in advance in the IHG app in a live chat. I was informed that my requests were submitted, but it does not guarantee that the hotel can make the accommodation on the day of checkout. Upon check-in I inquired about the adjoining room and I was told that they did not have adjoining rooms. Of course this annoyed me because I really wish the live chat had just let me know that on the day I requested it, so I wouldn't be expecting it and so I could choose another place for lodging, if I chose to. After the response to that question, I didn't even ask about the refrigerator because I was thrown off, but I know for sure that they do have these upon request because another guest who utilized this option, confirmed it for me. After that I asked for my room to be very close to my mom's and she the associate said that she would get them as close as possible, but once I got upstairs I was on a completely different hall from her. I checked for cleanliness, but didn't touch anything. I called from my room and another associate (I think her name was Hibah) was able to get me switched over to the neighboring room to my mom's, but I still had to walk down and trade the keys. I do not think there was any ill intent in the first room placement, as the primary on the room, I honestly think that Monica (I believe that was her name) was trying to get me the best view which I appreciated. The first room was bright, airy, and very clean. Unfortunately the room I moved into had a view of a parking garage, therefore it wasn't as bright. Also, there were some very minor things that were missed when housecleaning cleaned the bathroom. Either way, as I cleaned and sanitized the room with Lysol, I was pretty pleased with the rooms and the rest of the hotel has a wonderful ambiance. Now on to more positives, besides the cleanliness. I enjoyed the breakfast and my server Odessa, we also met her sister Joy who assisted her in getting us served. We arrived close to the end of breakfast and they allowed us to sit and chat after closing, which was very nice of them. I stayed two nights with the Hotel Indigo and I would certainly return again. This hotel does not have a pool, but honestly I think I would return anyway. I really it enjoyed and was pleased with the cleanliness and the service. Associates at the front desk and even the valet took time out to help me with suggestions for dinner and other places to checkout while visiting Atlanta. I must recognize everyone for their commitment to...
Read moreI recently stayed at Hotel Indigo Atlanta Downtown and was quite disappointed. The parking near the hotel is severely inadequate, which made arriving and departing a hassle. Additionally, the vagrant situation in front of the hotel was ever so present, making the area feel unsafe and uncomfortable.
Thinking I could avoid the drifters outside, I decided to use the basement parking lot, which I accessed via an elevator labeled B1 Parking. However, after exiting the elevator and passing through the double glass doors into the basement parking garage, I realized it seemed to be fully enclosed with no way to walk to the adjacent parking garage. I'm not even sure how cars enter that area.
When I tried to leave, I discovered the doors had locked behind me. I had my key card, but it didn't help as there was no phone, video camera, or any way to alert the front desk that we were stuck. To make matters worse, I encountered three young ladies, aged around 18 to early 20s, who had been stuck there for about five minutes without any means to call for help. They told me that they had walked around the entire parking garage and couldn't get out. None of them had cell phones, so I had to call my wife to inform her that we needed assistance.
Once my wife arrived and we made it out of the basement, I went to the front desk to report the situation. They seemed unconcerned and told me, "Well, we told you that we didn't have parking." I informed them that I understood that but my issue was being stuck in the basement. If there's no parking for the building, I shouldn't be able to get down to the basement in the first place. You need a key card to use the elevators, so it should be the same for basement access. I explained that this was a safety concern, especially for the three young ladies trapped down there, as something could have happened to them. The conversation with the front desk turned into a back-and-forth, and they really didn't seem to be concerned. This situation must happen frequently, and they seem to be sick of it, but apparently, there's nothing they can or will do about it.
Additionally, there's only one microwave for the whole building, located in the lobby, which happens to be filthy and takes forever to warm up a slice of pizza. The ice machine is located on the ninth floor, or at least that's where I was sent to.
Overall, my experience at this hotel was less than...
