I’m a Local of Atlanta & have eaten at Bellina Alimentari about 8 or 9 times between going solo, with my girlfriend or with friends over the past year or so. I ALWAYS enjoy the Carbonara & make myself comfortable by the the table with the books on the inside of the restaurant. The past 3 times I’ve been here the Carbonara’s presentation has been off... Everything on the plate or in the box is supposed to be brought together by a spongey egg yolk neatly perched on top but the past 3x I’ve had it, the yolk was not prepped properly & was broken all over my pasta & the pork was slightly undercooked..
If this was the only issue, I’d give 3 stars. Maybe 4. The reason for the 1 star review is A LOT worse than that.
The last time I ate here I showed up solo. The young lady at the register seemed to be hard of hearing when I ordered my Carbonara to eat inside. While ordering, she told me that I wouldn’t be able to eat inside because of someone’s dog who ordered before me. I quickly explained to her that it wasn’t my dog. After taking my order, she marked me for to-go despite saying I was eating in ($1-$2 charge for ordering to go.. Why..? I have no idea). I quickly walked to the front to ask her why she tagged that on & she told me with her manager behind her that I said I wanted a to go order... I blankly looked at her & politely told her that the dog isn’t mine & I’d like to eat in.. She apologized, and I thought that was it. I turned around to find a place to sit by the gentleman who had his service dog & we had a good conversation while waiting for our orders.. After 5 minutes a random employee told both of us that we wouldn’t be able to eat here (again) because of the service dog.. When the guy got his to-go box, he left while I stayed seated. About 3 minutes later the same random employee told me I was rude to the lady working the register, despite her getting my order wrong, assuming the dog was mine & receiving an apology already.. I told the girl I didn’t realize it was still an issue & asked how I was rude in which she said (verbatim) “You just were.” She walked away & I waited another 3-5 more minutes before the Manager/Owner walks over & drops my plate on the table. Mind you, the yolk was broken again this time. He told me to take my food & leave (with a plate). He also proceeded to tell me that I was rude & I cannot bring dogs in the restaurant. (AGAIN, NOT my dog.) This Manager/Owner continued to repeat how rude I was to his worker despite her apology to me.. He refused to see my point of view & actually threatened me by getting in my personal space before telling his worker to call security to kick me out of PCM. At this point I told him I had been a consistent customer here & never had an issue before this & didn’t understand why I was being targeted for no reason.. He showed no regard for that & threatened me by saying (verbatim) “I don’t need security. I’ll deal with you, myself..” At that point I was totally appalled at the entire experience & the workers here. The manager remained in my personal space while I remained level headed, but confused.
I asked for a box in that moment since I was being kicked out & he said I couldn’t get a box now.. So, we stood there awkwardly in front of a lot of customers sitting down & dining in before I asked for my money back which he refused to do & then decided to get me a box & told me to get out. After moving outside, the security guard he called for came to talk to me outside & after explaining what happened.. The guard actually told me that the manager & some of the staff at Bellina Alimentari in general are (verbatim) “pretentious assholes,” & he gets called by them a lot for questionable reasons.
This was a total NIGHTMARE. I’ve never been disrespected at any establishment quite like this. I will never return here & I advise ALL Black people, any minorities, disabled persons or service pet owners to...
Read moreI don’t think I can count on one hand how many times in my entire life I’ve left a bad review due to bad service but my experience last night was completely unacceptable and my server Andrew should never serve again with the way he treated my party so poorly. My party consisted of 4 people and upon the arrival of the first two guests, they let the hostess know that there would be 2 more joining. They sat at a two-top and the hostess said it wouldn’t be a problem to move to a bigger table once one was available.
As I (the third person joined), I pulled up a chair and the server came over to ask me what I wanted and I inquired about desserts and he explained them to me. Everything was fine up until this point. I didn’t know what I wanted and needed more time to look at the menu so he went to go take of his other guests and never came back to our table again.
Our 4th person even joined the group and was never greeted or asked if she wanted anything. Andrew never checked to see if the food was good for the first two women in my party. He didn’t ensure everything came out to their liking. We watched him come outside and go back inside at least six times while purposely avoiding eye contact with us.
I don’t remember the name of the Busser but he was amazing. He helped us move to a 4 top that was right next to us. He was super sweet and he said that we could order drinks with him. When we started asking questions about what alcohols were available, he said he would grab our server for us. We watched him go over to grab Andrew, Andrew looked to have caught an attitude, he didn’t even turn our way, then he proceeded to go back inside without checking on us.
At this point we weren’t getting any service and asked to speak to a manager which was Daria and she was our saving grace. She came out and listened to our concerns, apologized, took the rest of our orders and brought it out promptly. She closed out our checks and apologized again at the end of the night. The only reason why I’m not leaving a 1 Star rating is because of Daria and the Busser whom I’d love to give 5 stars to. I will happily change my 2 star rating to 5 stars upon Andrew’s termination. We’re also servers in the business and know under no circumstance should any guest be treated like that. He literally pretended like we didn’t exist. We’re also always generous tippers and hope the Busser got the tip we...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Bellina Allimentari on Sunday and were very disappointed to say the least. I do want to mention good things however: a $50 bottle of wine, a lovely ambience and our waitress (unfortunately don’t remember her name). Let’s start with an appetizer. We ordered a burrata to start and they brought us stracciatella instead. When I questioned, the waiter told me that they re out of burrata and this is pretty much the same type of cheese. Yeah, I know...but this is not what I ordered and may be you could ask your client if they wouldn’t mind stracciatella instead. Considering the $100 check I received, I would expect a better customer service. But this was only the beginning. We do have a tabu to never order pasta in America (with rare exceptions) due to many terrible experiences in the past, but this time we decided to take a risk. I ordered Pomodoro pasta which was OVERCOOKED and filled with garlic (I could not even taste tomatoes). How can you get the most simple pasta wrong?!? And How do you have a courage to call yourself an ITALIAN place (and to put this price tag at the same time) when you don’t know the BASICS of Italian cooking (my pasta was literally melting in my mouth). I lived in Italy for a year and love cooking myself and I just could not believe what I was served. My husband (who is btw Italian and lived there his whole life) got shrimp pasta that was (and here I quote him) “navigating” in butter and garlic. Shrimp and butter together? Really? How is this Italian? To finish this beautiful story, it took us about 7 hours to digest our lunch, I swear, we were really feeling sick after this food. I guess if you are used to eating healthy you can’t even digest their food properly (note: we do not have any stomach issues:)) This place can’t be called Italian, it just...
