Tacos & Tequilas Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Atlanta

I had been wanting Tacos for dayssssss and finally we ended up at Tacos & Tequila for dinner.

As it sits in the plaza there is ample parking which made it perfect as it was a few of us and we drove separately… Upon walking through the door and heading up the stairs, the ambiance is very vibrant. As my visit was during the evening hours the lighting was dim but not intimate. Once I arrived at the hostess desk, the hostess greeted me with a smile and a warm hello. As we were a party of 3 we were able to be seated immediately.

After being seated Chips & Salsa was delivered to the table immediately. As a heads up, don’t get full off the chips & salsa. LoL! The salsa is super fresh, mild and the perfect style of chunky. The tortilla chips were fresh and warm and were salted well enough to be eaten even without the salsa.

It took a while for our server to come to our table. By the time Cezar arrived we went ahead and ordered our drinks, appetizers, and main course all in one shot. (That should tell you how long we were sitting and waiting!)

I decided on the: Beef Empanadas - Appetizer Fresh. Crispy. Meaty. Well seasoned. Very filling. Served with 3, making them perfect for sharing.

Southern Tacos - Main Course (This dish comes with 3 tacos, rice, and beans.) The tacos were AMAZING! The chicken was well seasoned, perfectly fried and moist. The fixings were super fresh and balanced out the taco as a whole. The slice of avocado was a great compliment to the taco as a whole. It added a layer of texture profile as well as added a well blended balance to the charm of the southern spin on a Mexican dish… The rice was over cooked and bland. The beans were standard but when mixed with the rice provided as an optional flavor change from having just the tacos…

During the duration of stay there were a few areas of opportunity that caused my visit to not be a 5 Star experience:

My party of 3 received 2 sets of silverware. When it was realized and a third set was requested, the wait was an extended waiting period. The sauces that were requested during the ordering process did not arrive with the meal. As such, we had to track down our server to inquire about the 2 sauces only for him to return with 1 of the 2 and we had to again request the other sauce. The attentiveness of our server was minimal. During our 40 minute visit he checked on us twice. Though twice in 40 minutes isn’t a bad ratio, it was the timing of the check-ins. They were so far apart that it made the service experience lack luster. The music was super loud. To the point that it was uncomfortable when trying to engage in normal conversation.

Overall my experience was acceptable to warrant another visit, however, I may consider just doing a To-Go option as the tacos were...

Exactly how I rated is what i experienced. 1 star for food 3stars for service and 4 stars for atmosphere! The food was terrible Rreal Tacos would never serve us food that tasted or came out the way this food came out. I ordered the steak tacos and my husband ordered enchiladas and the fajita bowl. To have an open kitchen as if the cooks are really cooking to order is crazy when in fact they serve precooked food. The steak meat wasn’t real steak meat if it was I don’t know what part of the cow they cut that meat from but it was all rubber I couldn’t eat my tacos I returned to sender expeditiously!! The fries literally was the only edible thing I ate. My elote corn was terrible to much mayo on them small corns. To much of everything on them small corns and they were cold. My tacos were also cold so I know they weren’t cooked to order or they were just sitting waiting to be delivered to our table. My husband hated his food. It had no taste and to much cheese he said. He didn’t finish his fajita bowl at all. After sending back the tacos we asked for our ticket and the waitress brought back to go containers and we literally laughed and said no thank you! To think we wanted any of it and we literally was seated for only 30minutes is crazy. Read the room love we don’t want any of it you can take it all back lolbs. We only finished our drinks which were ok they weren’t as strong as we expected. To know that we were debating on the going to rreal tacos because they never fail us. But we wanted to give a New Mexican restaurant a try. We now know when we really came to eat stick with what you know. But listening to my husband saying he enjoys doing food reviews with me and trying new places I said why not and I soooo regretted it that night. Stomach was in a knot from that one steak taco I tempted to eat. SMH! I guess it depends on the time you go because I always read reviews before I go eat somewhere. Exceptional Bartending Experience with Dewayne at Tacos & Tequilas

I recently visited Tacos & Tequilas, and I have to say that Dewayne, the bartender, made the entire experience unforgettable! From the moment I sat at the bar, he greeted me with a warm smile and genuinely engaging conversation. It’s clear that he’s not just there to serve drinks—he’s passionate about what he does and knows how to create an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.

Dewayne’s knowledge of the menu is impressive. He gave spot-on recommendations, whether it was which tequila to try or which tacos paired best with the drink. Speaking of drinks, his margaritas were simply the best! You can tell he puts care and precision into every cocktail, ensuring the flavors are balanced and presentation is perfect. His attention to detail, even during peak busy times, was remarkable.

Even though the bar was crowded, Dewayne never missed a beat. He was incredibly efficient, making sure no one had to wait too long for a refill or new drink. He’s got this amazing ability to manage multiple guests at once while still being personable with each one. You feel like you’re his priority, even when it’s clear he’s juggling a lot. His customer service skills are top-notch, and it’s easy to see why he’s so well-liked by the regulars.
