I came in on May 30 around 8pm, just to give reference to the staff on shift at that time. I ordered Salmon, brown rice, and cold noodles. The only thing that should have been served cold is the noodles but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. When my food came the Salmon and rice was lukewarm, definitely not fresh. Also, I got white rice and when I told them the issues with my meal, I found out they didn’t have brown rice but should of been told that while I was ordering so I had the option to order something else. That wasn’t a huge issues though. I gave her the plate of food and she came back literally 30 seconds later with a new piece of salmon along with the one I said was lukewarm still on the plate. Never had that happen before, usually when the order is suppose to be remade, it’s a fresh plate. She dropped the plate down and made it really obvious she was pissed off. I ignored her attitude and still tried to enjoy the meal I paid for. The new piece of salmon was the same temp as the last one and I wasn’t surprised being that she came back with it 30 seconds later. No one who eats fish wants to eat it room temperature. I went and asked for the manager and again to my surprise it was the rude lady with the attitude. I asked her if their Salmon is made to order as in fresh to which she responded yes. I then asked her if it’s made fresh how did you have a new piece of salmon on here so quickly? She said because “I took it from another plate that was ready” which is a strange move in my opinion. So I asked her if I can have a freshly cooked piece of Salmon because the previous one was again not hot, which I shouldn’t have to ask for that to begin with. I gave her the plate with the rice and two pieces of lukewarm (lukewarm is being generous) Salmon back. About 10 minutes later she came back and slammed down a piece of Salmon on a little plate and walked away. Then she came back and said “do you want the rice?” With her negative tone and I had to remind her.. yeah I paid for that… she came back and threw the small bowl of rice on the table. Note the portion of rice provided was much smaller than the usual amount they give you in the proper bowl when the Salmon and rice are plated properly together. She couldn’t even take the time to remake the entree properly. As a manager she needs work on professionalism. Shouldn’t have people who have emotional issues as managers. She should have to properly been able to handle a customer complaint without getting mad, this behavior is leads to bad reviews. The bad experience she caused us to have was most definitely preventable. All you need is emotionally intelligent staff that know how to self regulate without projecting their off putting moods onto others. The manager on shift definitely put the “Child” in Flower Child. Friendly recommendation, demote her and get someone competent. This was my first time going to eat there in the evening and my second time eating there in general but the first time I ate here was in the morning a few weeks ago and I loved it. I got the Salmon, brown rice, and fruit. The morning shift staff was amazing and the Salmon was fire. Had perfect crispy sear.. 5 stars. I expected the same experience this time and I really hated that this manager ruined this restaurant for me. As you see the Salmon tonight was nothing like described from my first experience. Atmosphere was good, clean, other than the managers...
Read moreTo start, this review is not meant to get anyone in trouble or express my dissatisfaction with the food. I am expressing my disappointment and deep concern about what happened today - This should never happen to anyone.
While waiting for my order (over 25 mins), I just so happened to OVERHEAR the server (whoever assembles the order, could be manager?) tell the person plating food (let's call them chef) that my bowl was supposed to be salmon bowl not shrimp and put the bowl back on countertop. I then SEE the already assembled bowl return to chef's hands, chef does not change gloves, chef removes shrimp from bowl with gloves on hand, and adds salmon. Then staff says my order is ready.
Now, I am dangerously allergic to shrimp, shrimp juices, any and every form of cross contamination, so I walk over to the server before leaving. He seems busy, so I ask "Hey, can I ask you a question?", he responded slightly annoyed "Yes, your order was a bowl; it's ready" and then walks away. At this point, I turn and say "No, I need to ask you a question - Did this bowl have shrimp in it? Because I am allergic"; he then responds, "Let me ask" and in front of me, asks chef to remake the bowl because of my allergy, then apologizes under breath and walks away. I wait another 10-15 minutes (so at this point it's 40 min mark) until that is ready.
Had I not been sitting close to the kitchen today while waiting for my order, I do not know if I would still be alive. I did not have my epipen with me in the car - if I started eating the original bowl that I received on the way home, I could have gotten very sick or worse, died. When I got home, I had an allergy pill with my food because I still didn't trust it. Unfortunately, I will never eat at Flower Child again because they do not seem to have a proper allergen friendly protocol. This is truly disappointing since I am a semi-frequent customer, and even visited another location while in Houston, TX. I can't risk it though - I can’t trust what I’m eating. Hopefully bringing awareness to this issue will promote safety...
Read moreThe food here is excellent. One of my new favorites. It's healthy and flavorful. Yesterday was my second time eating here. The first time I ate a salad that had brussel sprouts which was delicious. I looked for it yesterday but it's seasonal. So, instead I got the enchiladas (chicken). I was not disappointed. I didn't change anything bc I like to try it as is. I did remove the jalapeños. All those flavors oddly mixed really well. My husband had the chicken dinner with smashed potatoes and corn. He said both the chicken and the potatoes were very good. I actually tried the corn and was pleasantly surprised. It is a mixture that tastes sweet, wholesome, and just plain yummy. It has red quinoa and is nit sticky at all. If you are trying to ear healthy or light without skimping on flavor, this is definitely the place. I got the chocolate chip cashew cookie...not my favorite. I think it contains coconut pieces. I love the rose petal lemonade. The passion fruit black tea is unsweetened and is served cold...add some agave and it's perfect. They have chicken, beef,...
