Iām a regular here at Brash for many years with the Atlanta History center in rotation. Been a west midtown girl since 2012 and witnessed Brashās upbringing to west midtown. My visit this morning at Brash Coffee was totally uncomfortable. Iām always there for a great experience, given their reputation for quality matcha and amazing coffee. Unfortunately, my interaction with the barista left much to be desired. Iāve bit my tongue for too long but letās talk about how rude and nasty Julia is. This isnāt the first occurrence. This is not the first time Iāve ordered my matcha and requested it to be freshly whisked. It really changes the way it tastes and how traditional matcha is to be prepared. (been drinking Matcha wayyy before it became trendy.) She seems to be the only one who rolls her eyes and makes it seem like youāre an inconvenience, makes you feel not valued as a regular paying customer.
Especially when it came to handling simple drink request, it wasnāt even busy this morning the time I came in. I asked for a simple preparation for my matcha. The barista Julia seemed visibly annoyed by the request, rolling her eyes and giving the death glare.
With current state of the economy, recession, recent pricing changes(brash is and always has been more on the expensive side) with a lot of coffee shops nearby now. I still choose to spend my hard working money here and will continue to tip my baristas on every single order.
For a place that prides itself on specialty coffee, the lack of care and professionalism in handling a basic order is disappointing. If I wanted Dunkinās I wouldāve went there for that service lol. Instead I choose to support my local small businesses. Hope you guys donāt get side eye bad negative additude Julia! (Sheās dark haired, Asian gal) She will make you feel uncomfortable, leave you with a bad experience and make you feel like a inconvenience to her. For that reason I leave Julia a 2 star for poor service.
I also want to add a quick shoutout to these AMAZING baristas here at Brash whoāve Iāve had many great interactions with and continues to make my morning into day so much more pleasant⦠Abi, Sun, Encar, Taylor, Sami, Madi, Destinee, Cydnee, Hannah, Rebecca, Joe, Omar and all the wonderful baristas at the Atlanta History center, you are all a damn vibe....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Atlanta coffee scene is a thriving one, and Brash is its shining jewel. Not only does it consistently offer the best cup of coffee I've had in Atlanta, but the baristas that lovingly tend to this shop are always a bright addition to my day. Brash and it's affiliates have curated a fantastic selection of coffee beans which you can buy for reasonable prices in very snazzy, quality bags, and the best part is that they can tell you exactly where they source all of their ingredients from. I've yet to see another coffee shop in Atlanta boasting organic and locally-sourced ingredients (their cream/milk is from an organic farm in Alabama, their AMAZING bagels are from Emerald City Bagels based right here in ATL, for example). Everybody that works there is excited to share their knowledge of coffee with you, and they do not take the art of coffee lightly. When I bought a grinder, a Chemex, and the Miguel Menendez Red Bourbon washed coffee beans from Brash, Joseph (the manager) personally helped me configure my grinder to the same consistency they use to brew their iced coffee and walked me through the pour over process himself. When my boyfriend and I walked in on a day that the owner was in-shop, he gave us a free tasting of their Cascara espresso simply because he was excited to teach us about this special coffee grown at high altitudes with a signature fruity taste. Unlike other coffee shops on the Westside, (I'm looking at you, Octane) Brash is never too crowded to be an annoyance. It's a small building, yes, but I think that only adds to the charm as it is thoughtfully decorated with a cozy feel in one of the most unique settings I've seen (a shipping container!). In short, the art of coffee-making is very important at Brash and it shows through the kind and very savvy people that work there and the loyal customer base that they so deserve. As long as I live in Atlanta, Brash will always be my go-to for my iced coffee, bagels, coffee beans, and great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE: I am updating my original post to 5 stars..Chris -the owner- responded pesonally - and addressed the previous issue with grace and honesty...which remains one of the many reasons we always strive to patronize small businesses...small businesses equates to local support and personal attention. We grabbed coffee and tea there today...and quickly remembered why we love coming ... .thank you Chris and thank you Joseph.
Great coffee! Super nice welcoming and friendly staff...except for one person.... who admittedly, we decided to put up with...so we continued to go into the Westside provision store - all the time.... but for whatever reason when this person is there she continually greets us with an attitude every time... so we were in the area today - so we stopped in and this person was there and treated us the same way...but in addition decided to be very childish and openly provided the person with the coffee order ahead of me with a design like they do in every coffee with the milk... And made an overt effort to hand me mine just "poured in"..nice way to make customers feel welcome and to patronize your store...good grief... we will not be...
