JDS SUMMERHILL VARIETY DELI — Restaurant in Atlanta

I hate doing reviews like this as I also own a small black owned business but I must speak on this situation. I discovered this store Nov 29,2022 and I've been hooked ever since. I've ordered through uber eats, Doordarsh over 20 times since then. I've placed enough orders that I've gotten their $12 reward plenty of times. In the past 2.5 months I've spent well over $400 not including app fees because the food is GREAT for the most part. I've had a few orders that weren't always right (consistently leaving raw onions on my chicken sandwich after i request none) or their normal standard but being in the food service world as a Caterer I completely understand ESPECIALLY when there may be different Cooks on different shifts. Anyhoo, 2 wks ago I ordered my usual order & added on the righteous burger and yes that burger was amazing! 2 days later I ordered the same order again & well let's just say the burger was no longer righteous. Most of the ingredients that makes it righteous were left off, my burger was literally rare inside. Enough things were wrong with my order that I actually complained to the store through the uber eats app fir the very first time. They refunded me for the burger of course but now I can no longer order from them on uber eats, which is sad because they truly loss a great customer. And Yes I can still order through doordash & I can walk in and order what I want instore but I no longer want to give my hard earned dollars to a company that penalize ppl for telling them the truth about bad service better yet bad food quality. Especially as I've been a loyal consumer since being introduced to them. I still recommend them just don't order food on Sundays or after 5pm if you want your order to be right. And as a business I need you all to do better on how you handle customer complaints....

UPDATE Tonight my husband and I were watching Diners Drive In’s and Dives and there was a jerk chicken spot that caused us to crave some so we ordered a dish from JD’s!!! Ready for pick up in only 15 minutes. JDs always delivers, we got the Jerk Chicken with Cabbage (I snapped the picture after I started eating, it’s hard not eating the food right away). Their jerk sauce is spicy with a hint of sweet and hits all the right spots. We get extra sides of jerk sauce for dipping, that chicken tasted like it was right off the grill 😋Cabbage was sautéed perfectly. Roscoe and Vick are the nicest guys. The food is consistently amazing. If you are reading this please stop and go visit JDs. All the dishes are great from the stir fry, pasta, salmon, fried catfish, subs. This is the kind of spot Atlanta needs, real food, real people, fast, fresh and tasty!

JD’s is a quick walk from our house and we go for small stuff we need around the house, snacks, Jamaican patty’s, and of course their food! Roscoe and Vick are great, your always greeted with a smile and great customer service which can feel like a lost art these days! They are also always so kind to our kids. So the food. Awesome. Let’s just say JD’s will not disappoint you! The first time I tried JD’s was when my friend had the jerk chicken egg rolls! I had one and it was fire! But today my friend treated me to the Salmon Alfredo pasta for my birthday and I’m too happy!! The salmon Alfredo is so bomb, they put a big piece of Salmon over the pasta! The sauce is a nice consistency, not too thick or clumpy!!! You can pour it over your pasta!! I got an extra side of sauce and I didn’t need it! Lesson learned! The pasta is packed with fresh perfectly cooked veggies and the salmon melt in your mouth!!!! This Salmon pasta was so good with the most seasoned creamy Alfredo sauce; I’ve ever tasted that wasn’t made in my own kitchen!!! When you order this pasta, make sure you’re going home cause it’s so good you will need a nap after it!! The portions are huge!!!! They have a heavy hand at JD’s when making your plate (my type of plate). For $20 that’s a lot of pasta, definitely can feed two people!!!
