Man...I don't like giving bad reviews but sometimes its well deserved.
Came to Atlanta to do a college visit with my son and we are both big on deep dish pizza. After googling for guidance, we found Nancy's in midtown. The food pictures looked good and They advertised a 20% dine-in special Monday-Thursday which made it even better. Starving and excited, I failed to check reviews (shame on me). Any who, when it comes to cooking deep dish it takes a while so we decided to call in the order so it'd be ready when we arrive. We ordered a medium pizza over the phone with Anayah and she told us that it would take 30 mins before the pizza was ready. We made it to the restaurant 25 mins after ordering and were soon seated. After being seated we ordered wings and a cesar salad that came out 30 mins after ordering with no pizza in sight. 15 mins later the waitress let us know that the pizza was on its way out. Finally an hour and ten mins after ordering we got our "large pizza" (basically she didn't put our order in when we called). The waitress let us know they upgraded the pizza and would be discounting our meal for the wait. This made things a little better seeing as how they acknowledged the mishap. The pizza was fresh out but undercooked with doughy crust. Pizza didn't taste bad but the cheese and sauce didn't sit on the crust and ran right off.
finally we were ready to leave and the bill came. I noticed that aside from the regular dine-in special there was no discount on the bill. I brought it up to the waitress and she went to Anayah for an answer. Waitress responded saying the discount was applied (dine-in special). I asked to speak with Anayah and she repeated the discount was applied as well. I let her know the dine-in discount was already in play due to it being Thursday and they should be applying something else. She assured me that the discount expired in March and they no longer offer it. I pulled out my phone to show her the website shows the discount offer expires 5/31/25. She looked at my phone for about ten seconds with them glasses on and said "oh well, you cant get two discounts anyway" giggled and walked away. Wooooooow lol!!! I looked at my kid and he just cracked up lol. I paid the bill without disputing any further and still left a tip for the waitress because regardless of my feeling slighted, she did her job.
Will neve patronize this place again. I just pray that they learn proper business etiquette and how to stay in a good light. I'm always rooting for my folks to excel but If you can do better and choose not to,...
Read moreDuring a recent visit to Atlanta for an event, we went on a pizza-finding mission and were thrilled to stumble upon Nancy's Pizza, a blast from our past in Illinois. We used to be regulars and loved their pizza. After our event, we placed an advance order and were told that when we arrived, the host would give the kitchen a heads up that we were coming to dine in. Sounds like a plan, right?
Well, upon arrival, we told the host about our pre-order, and they verified that they'd spoken to us on the phone and had even alerted the bartender about our order. We took a seat, eager to get our pizza on, since good pizza places are like unicorns. But twenty minutes went by, and we were still waiting for someone, anyone, to take our drink order. My husband took matters into his own hands and went to the bar to order our beers.
We continued to wait, baffled that our pizza order was MIA after 50 minutes. By the time we finished our beers, my husband was like, 'Peace out, we're leaving!' The bartender apologized for the delay and offered to check on our pizza. He came back and said the kitchen was working on it. My husband joked that maybe our order had been given to someone else, but the bartender offered us a discount on our pizza and even prepared our check.
Just as we were about to leave, he comes out with our pizza and apologizes again. The bartender was kind enough to waive the cost of our drinks, so we only paid for the pizza. We left, thinking, 'Well, that was a disaster!' But the real kicker was when we got back to our hotel and discovered that our pizza was colder than the pizza in the frozen food section of our local grocery.
Needless to say, our experience at this Nancy's Pizza location was a joke. The ambiance was nice, but the service and food were a major letdown. We appreciate the bartender's attempt to make things right, but we wouldn't recommend this location to our worst enemy. If we ever find ourselves in Atlanta again, we'll be sure to try a different Nancy's...
Read moreLet’s begin…. I’m from Chicago. Sweetie picked this place because we strive to find Authentic Chicago food, here in the ATL. Seasoning, meat curing, baking, vegetables, all grow, cure, and bake different in different regions. One good example of this is the Baking of the Bread, In Chicago, the French/Italian bread bakes light and fluffy , with holes on the inside , and crusty on the outside, in ATL, the Italian/French Bead is dense and heavy, this is because of the different elevations that the bread is baked in. I actually have my Italian/French bread sent to me from Chicago, this is how serious my taste palette is. Now let’s go to Nancy’s. We ordered a personal stuffed, a 14” thin, both sausage and cheese, and 2 Italian beefs with cheese. First, our order was wrong, we got a 10” pizza, and no cheese on the Italian beefs, maybe it saved us a couple of bucks, but the bill was still over $100. Oh I forgot we had 2 weak Margaritas, which were bought with no salted rims, just sad. The Italian beefs were on dense skinny Italian bread, (not Chicago bread), the au jus, which should soak into the bread tasted like it came from a mix packet, instead of the juices created by simmering the meat in the juices, in short, rename your sandwich, this is NOT a Chicago Italian Beef, not even close. In fact, Take the Chicago name off the restaurant, nothing was authentic Chicago, the pizza was OK, it was close, but Chicago Home run inn frozen pizza at Publix tastes better! I eat, Chicago pizza, Stuffed pizza, Deep dish, (2 different styles now), thin crust, thick crust, pan pizza, butter crust, so I went to different restaurants to satisfy my different pizza cravings in Chicago, and all the Italian sausages have fennel spices in it, my personal stuffed pizza was short on the sausage and taste. The Thin crust was O.K., but for those who know Chicago food,...
