I was extremely underwhelmed and somewhat disappointed with this restaurant. I've been looking forward to eating here for months now because of the high ratings and because I heard it was a great place for breakfast. I was super excited when I got the opportunity to go today. First, let me say the overall look of the place is like an old 1960's diner. It is definitely stuck in that era. That's not a bad thing. I kind of liked that charm. Now, on to the food...Let's just say, I wonder if any of the people who gave this place a 4 or 5 stars, really tasted the food. Or maybe I got a different chef because the food was most definitely not a 4. At best a 3 because it was hot. However, I ordered the catfish strips with eggs, grits, and a pancake. None of which tasted seasoned at all. Now granted, it came to my table piping hot but it was nothing to sing about. I understand this place has been around for several decades and been visited by a number of celebrities but I wonder if they thought the food was good because I didn't see any reviews by them. My friend ordered the skillet fried chicken and the breading was extremely thick and floury. The dressing and green beans tasted like they came from a box and a can and the macaroni and cheese was very dry and they used shell noodles instead of macaroni noodles. The staff were extremely friendly and our server was very attentive. We only paid about $26 for our meals combined, plus I got coffee; can't beat that! All in all, I was not impressed and will probably not be back.

First time visiting this spot in Atlanta. Came here for brunch, on my birthday. Last visited: July 2023. Parking is sufficient, and it’s available outside the restaurant. Our table ordered: - Chicken and Waffles - Pancakes w/ Hash Brown Fries (?) - Orange Juice The service was prompt and no issues with it. I got a note and paid the tab at the front counter, while leaving. The indoors seating and atmosphere was just so-so, nothing special. Other than, apparently there are photos of famous people who’ve visited, as celebrities and actors such as Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson — and some other folks, whose name I’m drawing a blank on now — have visited. Food was great, nothing extraordinary. Chicken was nice and went well with the waffle. There was a lot of maple syrup and butter packets provided, but we didn’t use a lot of them. I only used one syrup packet, and all butters — if memory serves correct — and then left the rest. We actually stacked about seven or so of the unopened maple syrup packets, one atop another. So, yeah. All said, food was decent here and was filling at the least. But it was nothing exceptional. Hopefully I might revisit here if I get another chance, one day. After all, it looks like someone famous people have frequented this spot at least once, so it might be worth another try.

ICONIC BUT DISAPPOINTING You walk into the Silver Skillet and it’s like stepping back in time 50 years to the dinners of the 60’s and 70’s. The décor is amazing, with walls filled with symbols of the day, including a side-by-side picture of the restaurant with the Atlanta skyline today and back then. And the service on a Saturday morning was delightful. Of course, there was a wait as we sat on the shaded bench outside the restaurant, but the greeter was cheerful and efficient and the wait staff upbeat and friendly. We so wanted to love this place! Unfortunately, our meals were well below expectation. Our meal included two Super Skillets (onion, ham, green peppers, cheese, tomato) – one with mushrooms added – along with waffles, pancakes, grits and a side of bacon. The pancakes were indeed delicious, and the bacon was crispy as requested. But the grits were just okay, the waffles were tasteless, and the omelets were stuff with a ground ham that made the dish unenjoyable. We walked away surprised at how disappointed we were with the meal. As an aside, if you are a clean freak, the Silver Skillet is probably not the best place for you. The walls were dingy, the fabric on the booths needed a real scrubbing, the silver was far from sparkly…just an overall feeling of “not fully clean.”

The restaurant was a fan favorite for several years. I assume that it still is that is one of the reasons why I wanted to go there particularly to eat I saw this location on television and since I lived in the city I wanted to make sure to make a visit . It appears to be a lot bigger than it is They have a small dining area. It's a bit cluttered but I guess it's because it gives you the old school vibe where there's lots of things going on in the old school diner things on the walls and all of that good stuff the souvenir shop and everything. The floors weren't as clean as I would like them but I guess that was just a busy day for them. We were seated pretty promptly. I had a egg and cheese sandwich and chicken sausage it was very good I enjoyed the complete meal. I had a delicious hot chocolate, the other meal was country ham and eggs with grits which was also delicious from what I'm told, the pancake was cooked to perfection. The food came out within 20 minutes of ordering so the service is pretty prompt. Our waitress was pretty quick with everything a catered to our needs checked on our table twice. Our visit was all in all good and we would definitely return. And we would definitely return. Parking is more on the side of the restaurant where the entrance is.

This is a classic establishment with a lot of history behind it . We arrived pretty early . And they had a line outside but we only waited about 5 minutes . There’s no outside seating . Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu . The silver skillet isn’t equipped to handle tables larger than 5 . It’s a small environment for four -5 people at a table max. The food comes out fast and they’re ensuring you’re enjoying everything while the service is in effect. My two major nit pick is the lack of a soda machine in 2024, and the brand of syrup being used . There should be no reason I’m purchasing a canned soda at a restaurant . There’s other syrup brands out there that taste a lot better . Those packets gave me elementary school vibes . Some things can evolve for the better (in my opinion ) . If you want to use the restrooms , they’re located in a separate building next door . All in all enjoyed my breakfast . They also have merchandise for sale and vintage candies u can purchase. It’s definitely a restaurant to try when ready .

While visiting Atlanta I came across this restaurant. Upon passing it on my arrival in town, I noticed it had a line, so I took a mental note to double back, and I’m glad I did. The food was great! I ordered the veggie omelette, cheese grits with raisin bread as toast, and a slice of their ice box lemon pie, which is home made and rumored to be favorite, and I see why, cause it was good and didn’t disappoint. My service was great as well, staff was very friendly, inviting, and made you feel right at home, even got a little history lesson on the restaurant as you can tell from the decor and atmosphere that it’s family run and operated. My overall experience was great, and whenever I’m in town I’ll definitely be back. Thanks Silver Skillet!
