Read moreI was extremely underwhelmed and somewhat disappointed with this restaurant. I've been looking forward to eating here for months now because of the high ratings and because I heard it was a great place for breakfast. I was super excited when I got the opportunity to go today. First, let me say the overall look of the place is like an old 1960's diner. It is definitely stuck in that era. That's not a bad thing. I kind of liked that charm. Now, on to the food...Let's just say, I wonder if any of the people who gave this place a 4 or 5 stars, really tasted the food. Or maybe I got a different chef because the food was most definitely not a 4. At best a 3 because it was hot. However, I ordered the catfish strips with eggs, grits, and a pancake. None of which tasted seasoned at all. Now granted, it came to my table piping hot but it was nothing to sing about. I understand this place has been around for several decades and been visited by a number of celebrities but I wonder if they thought the food was good because I didn't see any reviews by them. My friend ordered the skillet fried chicken and the breading was extremely thick and floury. The dressing and green beans tasted like they came from a box and a can and the macaroni and cheese was very dry and they used shell noodles instead of macaroni noodles. The staff were extremely friendly and our server was very attentive. We only paid about $26 for our meals combined, plus I got coffee; can't beat that! All in all, I was not impressed and will probably...
Read moreWell it had been a long time since I had been here. So I decided to take a trip. I went with the idea of having some lunch. I went with the idea of having a ham steak and red eye gravy. Sadly thats on their lunch menu, witch is only served M-F(WTH). If you go on weekends, basically its breakfast, burgers and sandwitches. Since what i orginally wanted wasn't available,I settled for 2 eggs,2 pork chops, hashbrowns and toast. I ordered a unsweet tea to go with. The food soon arrived. The food looked great. However I thought $15.95 was a bit much considering the paper thin pork chops that came with. Now the food was great. Then came the other shocker. I recieved my bill, witch was almost $24. But then i did some investigation to see they charge $4 extra if you order hashbrown instead of grits. I had got the impression from my waitress that it was either grits or hashbrowns. I was not aware it was a up charge, and was not informed. However I shall return during the week, one day for lunch. I might like to add this little piece of advice too. This resteraunt is very famously known for having movies filmed here. I would advise you to make sure its open before traveling. They are known for being closed due to filming from time to time. I do find the interier neat. Has a 70's diner feel. There is also a cabinet with pictures to see the various movies and famous people who...
