As you can tell from the other reviews the owner Ben can use a crash course in customer service and honest business practices. This establishment stole/ lost mine and another women’s card. I left my card overnight by accident. Thanks to their strange card system I took the restaurants wine tracking card home instead of exchanging my debit card at the end of the night. I saw that they tried to charge my card for a random amount but I already froze my card once I realized I forgot it. When I tell you the insanity that just ensued… First, I was standing at the counter for about 5 minutes before even being “helped” by Ben. He was frantically searching for another women’s debit card that he “misplaced” he made her cancel her card then find a new form of payment?! When I asked for my card he said they threw it out as per their policy. when I said that I never heard of a policy like that before he became irate and started yelling. Also, there is a small sign saying they chage a $50 fee for forgotten cards which is very odd. But if that is the policy why would you throw it out? When I asked him this he said I should “just reorder a new debit card dont you know how to order a new card” woooow the audacity. So I should be out of a debit card for 1-2 weeks because you took mine? When I said please stop yelling at me he kicked me out! as I was leaving he followed me yelling at me that no one cares about my card and that I should not have left it. I truly thought he was going to hit me and I said as much and he just got louder. The entire restaurant was staring. I have never been kicked out of an establishment especially not for asking where my card is. Scammers tend to become hostile when called out. Stay far away. There are better and more honest wine bars I would go to Barcelona or Storico Vino instead.

First time at this wine tasting bar. The vibe was good, but they don’t sell bottles like other places. Wines on tap - you will get a card to swipe, which lets you sample your choices of wine. The card costs $40 or $50 if not returned. Expect a 20% service charge no matter your group size. We were five but still charged 20% gratuity even though the sign says it applies to parties of 6 or more. The cashier lady said the sign wasn’t updated. They charge at their discretion—seems like the sign doesn’t mean much. This is not how you do business. Nothing was mentioned unless customers ask. In my opinion, it’s not worth going back if a business sacrifices long-term success for short-term gain. Plenty of good wine tasting options out there.

What a cool experience! I love being able to taste wines on my own pace… AND as many as I want!? The best. You’re allowed a new glass if you’d like, and Shaun was super attentive and available for any questions we had! I made a rookie mistake and accidentally knocked my wine glass over, the chef ran over with a towel to wipe the wine and came back with a new wooden board (with a couple extras) for our charcuterie board! The service here was TOP TIER. From walking in we were greeted with smiles, and leaving with smiles. Thank you so much again Shaun and Chef! We can’t wait to come back with our friends!

  • FYI : This is a long review BUT much needed to encapsulate the experience. **

Let me first start off by saying that I frequent The Works and have had a pleasant experience at all of the businesses that I have patroned. In the times that I have gone, I have always seen this establishment and waited for an opportunity to give it a try. Well, I found it. I had a family member [aunt] visiting from out of town and recommended we try this establishment because they wanted to go to a place that served wine. As I mentioned before, I have not had a terrible experience to date with any of the businesses in the area. Little did I know it was soon about to change.

We walked into the establishment and the atmosphere was okay. There was a class going on in the back of the room and my party of 5 [family] came in eager to indulge in the experience. I saw the wine kiosk and unfamiliar with how it worked I asked the cashier Jazmine some questions. Her answers were short and demeanor was unwelcoming. I shrugged if off and figured it out for myself. My mother also went to ask questions about the experience and the cashier was once again short and the tone in her voice gave off that she had an attitude. That should have been the moment we left the establishment because it went downhill from there. My mother came up to the cashier with my aunt to ask more questions because once again the cashier was not providing a clear explanation as to how everything worked. Once again the cashier responded with an attitude and short and started yelling at them to the point where she walked off and yelled screaming about she doesn’t have to put up with this because she only makes $7.25/hr and it’s just a job. Honestly speaking that was very apparent in her poor service that she treated it as just a job. She didn’t pause her private conversation that she was having on her phone to show us how any of it worked. She seemed bothered every time we asked her questions.

At this point I am ready to leave and upset that my family has been treated in this manner. However, I can't leave because prior to this outburst I had ordered wine on the card they give you and there was no one else to check me out. I sat there for about 5-10 minutes waiting for her to come back. We grab the business card with the owner's name on it and proceed to call the manager about the experience. However, he did not answer and a voicemail was left. She finally came back to check us out. She was nice to me but still unpleasant to my other family. Once she checked all of us out, we proceeded to leave. As we're leaving she is still yelling at us as we were exiting the store making rude remarks.

My aunt and mother finally got a chance to speak to the owner Ben Ferris a day after the incident. My aunt had a conversation with Ben first. Ben was also unpleasant and unremorseful for how the staff treated his guest and did not take any accountability for his staff's actions. Furthermore, the time frame in which the cashier left , she was speaking to the owner and lying to him saying that the whole group was drunk. Unacceptable! Once again no one had anything to drink prior to walking into that place. Then when the owner spoke to my mother the number of drunk people went down from 5 to 2 people. I also tried calling myself, but of course the owner never returned my phone call.

I find it very telling to know that the cashier rushed to make up this elaborate and fraudulent story and even more telling that the owner is not sorry for how his guest are treated. It shows me that the cashier has done something like this before and the owner aware of the behavior and just does not care. To say the experience was unfavorable is an understatement. I usually read the reviews for the places I go to and I wish I did at this place because there seems to be a pattern of bad attitudes all around with both the staff and owner. Beware of going to this place. I will...

My family wanted to show me a good time on my last day in The A so they took me to Midtown to The Works. We decided to visit a spot called a Taste. Walked in and it appeared to be a whole classy cozy sexy vibe. We were not greeted upon entering the business. The associate was behind the counter on her cell phone and never acknowledged us. We went to the counter to inquire how things worked she was rude out the gate. She left out with her cell, gone over 10 mins. I called the owner he did not answer . When she returned I gave her the card back not knowing she held 25.00 on my debit card after she stated no hold. I took a business card and she states yeah take a card and she continued to make rude comments. Once I landed back home called the mgr he took her side, stated she told him we all appeared to be inebriated. I was not happy with his reaction to the whole situation. I told him that she stated that she makes $7.50 an hour and does not need this mess. He confirmed that is her salary asked me what do I wanna do about it or what should he do about it? I told him this is your company. It takes months to get a customer and seconds to lose one. There’s so much more to talk about however he lost five customers because of her rude and unprofessional behavior. Collectively, we all decided we were never stepping foot in Taste again with the poor service that...
