Title: A Disappointing Breakfast Experience at Harper's I regret to say that our breakfast experience at Harper's in the Ocean Hotel and Casino was far from what we expected. We were in Atlantic City celebrating a special occasion and decided to try Harper's based on its good Google reviews. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a 30-minute wait, which we didn't mind as the service from the hostess and waiters was initially wonderful However, things took a turn for the worse when we were served a sample smoothie. As I lifted the glass, I was hit with the unpleasant smell of eggs—a clear indication of improperly cleaned dishes. Although this was quite off-putting, we decided to overlook it and proceeded to order our meals: Bloody Marys, Harper's eggs, and traditional eggs To our dismay, the food was terrible. Despite being hungry, the taste was disappointing and the Bloody Marys were unpalatable. We reluctantly consumed some of it, hoping for the best. Unfortunately, shortly after leaving, we both began to feel unwell. It's been two days now, and I'm still recovering from the aftermath of that meal While I appreciate the lovely service, I am truly disappointed by the quality of the food and the subsequent illness it caused. I will return to the Ocean Hotel, but sadly, Harper's will not be on my list of places to revisit. This experience has left a bad taste in our mouths, both literally and...
Read moreMy sis and I took our mom to AC for Mom's Day weekend. We ate here on that Saturday-- actually surprised we were able to get a reservation only hours before we wanted to eat there.
None of us had ever patronized this place before: (1) Food was AMAZING! While I am persnickety with my choice of foods (via my taste buds) on the front end (e.g. ask for host recommendations, what's most ordered, food choices based on my cocktail selections, etc.) once I order, my food is 99% tasting how I imagine.
For my mom and sis, it's usually the other way around; I'm usually on pins and needles when their food comes out with fingers (and toes) crossed praying that the presentation looks appealing and the taste matches.
We ALL LOVED our food. Beautiful plating and all cooked just how we would like.
I had [pictured]: shrimp and grits potatoes rye bread 'mom'mosa coffee (Frenchpress) My sis had: chicken and pancakes (the pancakes was substituted for the waffle. Based on the description of the waffle, it seemed more savory than sweet.) (I think) raspberry mimosa Our mom had: cheese eggs bacon potatoes (i think) wheat bread
(2) Our host was the perfect combination of visible/present and out of sight (if that makes sense) and was very amenable to my MANY QUESTIONS and (all of) our tweaks to what we wanted to eat.
Five stars all round -- we definitely plan to go again!

Read moreWe chose Harpers for our only dine-in breakfast during our stay - we waited to sit, and the hope was that we would enjoy our expensive breakfast. Unfortunately, we were left very disappointed. The food was good; but the service from our waiter was extremely lacking, which overall gave me a bad impression of this place and I would be very hesitant to eat there again. Our waiter returned only somewhat to check on us from a distance, quietly asking “you good?” In fact, no, we weren’t good. They did not ever bring us the first part of our breakfast order and he never came back to check and see if we needed anything so he didn’t know until the end of our meal. We had to request things from other staff walking by. He never apologized for the food never coming out. You just cost your business the extra money they would have received for that. I just don’t understand the lack of customer service in a very nice hotel/casino. Yes, everyone has bad days.. but to not come and check, and to not show some sort of customer service is very...
